I did have to watch this movie several times to understand it. There’s still some parts i dont get…but, Gary’s acting was so cool and controlled i really enjoyed how he made me feel.
you have Gaius Julius Caesar, Max Rockatansky, Sherlock Holmes, Arnim Zola, both Merlin and Galahad and Mikhail Gorbachov at eachothers throats. Literally everyone in the cast is a legend
I really enjoyed this video but I had to watch it twice because I kept trying to figure where I had seen some of the actors before.....I think a lot of people wouldn't like it because you have to be patient and pay attention. All of the actors are really good in this movie.
I only have one issue with this. I think they should have had an extra scene at the start where Peter Guillam brutally executes a spy. After I saw this film I wondered why everyone was so skittish around him, then I read the original story. Peter has a reputation of doing the governments dirty work and cleaning house of double agents. He really HATES traitors and KILLS THEM ON SIGHT. Smiley purposely brings him along to intimidate them. Without knowing that, you loose the element of mortal danger, and shock at the end when someone else executes the traitor.
that does seem to be a very large character/storyline gap for a movie that takes this whole story so seriously. I will keep that in mind when i watch the movie, thanks!
@@AD98. Thank you. I've seen this movie so many times that I'm embarrassed Percy's name escaped me. For a while I had the Soviet Anthem part memorized from the group singing it. I'd zone out in the elevator in my building and start singing it! Lol!
I came from a big family 6 sisters 2 brothers and when the cookie jar was targeted she could tell who done the dirty just by saying It is "Written all over your face." And that was that ! Even the dog had a guilty look ! Lol
Usually I complain about movies that are three hours long when they should be two. This is one of the few movies where I really felt that a bit more scale would have eased the storytelling issues. It does no credit to the adaptation to have such an epic story boiled down to the point where major characters flick in and out of the tale so rapidly that it causes confusion. Another half hour, or another hour, and I may have really got to love this movie. Watch the series instead.
I just realized: it starts and ends with a gunshot (the one in Budapest and the one at the end - no spoilers). Other than those scenes, no other shots were fired.
The German translated version wasn't very good: Imagine: "Out - all out" was "heraus, allle heraus". A total grammatical desaster. And I missed Cumberbatch's voice very much. Ah - this gorgeous man.
I don't remember the movie that much now but I knew when I watched it was released a few years ago, I thought it was excellent and that Gary Oldman was great in it. Then I watched Smiley and Smiley's People this last week and Sir Alec Guinness is just marvelous - an absolute class act. Master class at that. Then again tv is different to film.
Tom Hardy was the one who crushed it in this version. And Svetlana Khodchenkova when the story was on them it worked. The rest just fell short of the miniseries.
Every character in this movie is speaking in a monotonous , slow-motion manner. Like they've all been drugged. Its a struggle just to continue watching the movie.
Simple Amazing, Brilliant! And I still wonder why this masterpiece didn’t win Oscar. ❤️
This movie has a fantastic cast.
Exactly. You nailed it. This is a truly great film that's been largely overlooked, certainly by the American public.
It captures seventies London perfectly, everything indoors looks from the fifties.

Love this movie Legendary
Gary is so handsome in the interview. He has a good taste in his clothes style
Brilliant stuff.
Love Ben's hair in this!!

Smiley goes swimming in Hampstead ladies pool.
Brilliant film !
Thanks for uploading. Can't wait to buy DVD (in my country)

I bet Peter killed Bland, Esterhaus, and Toby Jones's character. Forgot his name. It's his job. He must be black ops.

I can't imagine Guillam executing anyone, perhaps his boyfriend?
I think John La Carre did a great job with telling his experience in The Cold War.

This movie is very very good
THANKS!
Who is it that you don't want the mole to be?
it's very different from the book. Budapest not Prague, for one
Hola
gracegau36 I think you're forgetting about a gunshot near the middle of the movie.

Gary should have been shortlisted for honours.

Actually, there were shots fired mid-movie when one spy was being interrogated and someone else was brought into the room.
And all shots connected to one character
That's what happened in Budapest...

@@normalcrazy3411no but "desaster" is!
I found the movie version somewhat threadbare in comparison with the television series.

just a little sadly :/

Great acting, horrible screenplay
