volume levels are so low! :(
I put my headphones on. That might help. :-)
Elle Shell headphone's on, volume's up, suddenly they're clapping their hands for Mrs. Hudson. RIP my ears.
Hmm, that's odd. I didn't have a problem with it when I put my headphones on. So sorry EMKT EF Swara. :-(
Elle Shell LOL it's okay, Elle Shell, dont worry bout it :)
Oh good. I thought that was on my end.
Lara Pulver: (on Irene Adler) She’s a very flawed, damaged, fearful woman and she has this wonderful mask that’s solid, that’s always got her to where she is in life. And then she meets this man, and they see each other. But it’s that he’s flawed as well. It’s a love story between the two. It’s like looking in the mirror, in that sense.
Mark Gattis: (on Sherlock and Irene’s love story) What I love about it is it’s so complicated. That’s what’s thrilling about it. She’s gay, he’s not interested in anything apart from brainwork but something happens. It doesn’t actually have to be as mundane as love story. It’s much more interesting than that.
Benedict Cumberbatch: (on Sherlock and Irene’s love story) It falls in the vein of you know, classical English romances in a way: the repression of emotion, the idea that it’s there but it’s not. It doesn’t have to be spoken. That’s a great thing to be able to play as an actor so it’s a joy.

I love how Ben just instantly replies to anyone who mentions Martin, and also that he is not afraid of bringing him up over and over again in the space of ten minutes!
"there is massive female fanbase out there"
*female fanbase laughing nervously from their chairs"
IRENE NEEDS TO COME BACK IN S4. Scandal in Belgravia es my favorite episode. It just touches you idk, makes you see Sherlock cares for the first time, it makes you see he actually got feelings
but...he cares all the time
Marisol1711 she was mentioned in tonight's episode season 4 episode 2, but she does need to come back to.
Marisol1711 ah me too!
i agree with you...she has to come back! But he cares...he cares about john...all the time...special example: the scene where john is in the fire and sherlock saves him...
also he cares about mary and misses hudson...
Very very close but not
Me : "hmm... The volume is really low. Maybe i should wore headphones"
Puts on headphones, the crowd clapping for Mrs. Hudson, i'm suddenly deaf o_o
next time I'll read comments beforehand because I did exactly the same... And now I need to check my hearing :DDD
I love the chemistry between Irene and Sherlock...
Me too
Me too
"We had a dashing young Sherlock Holmes..."
"Then we fired him..."
"THAT'S why Martin was so angry on the first day of work..." XD
Thats a beautiful description of Irene in the actresses words. And how she describes how Irene and Sherlock SEE each other. Really good interview!
So glad Una Stubbs got recognition for being the best Mrs. Hudson. I love her so much, she's *adorable*. :)
Sherlock's a really interesting person: He doesn't care about that Molly loves him, but he's like YOU HURTED MY LANDLADY, PREPARE TO DIE!!!
Why must Sherlock care about Mollys love for him? He is not interested in her. Girlfriends are not really his area, should be actually known since the first episode.
Just saying.
I loved what Mark Gatiss said.He has the perfect understanding of Sherlock!!! It'd be a sin to compare a normal love story to what Sherlock and Irene had. That's a kind of a divine intellectual bond
It was never a real love story between Sherlock and Irene, may be a relationship on the same intellectual mutual level also called "sapiosexual" when someone is attracted to the intelligence of the other.
It's there but it doesn't have to be spoken. British society in a nutshell.
"Martin, hobbling around in the woods of New Zealand" ahhaahhahahaha!
Reference to The Hobbit
Everyone's complaining about the volume, while I'm just here not even listening at 100% with headphones
That episode was my favourite to date, they really picked the perfect actress for adler, mind blowing. Very well written.
benedict: so she's like a sort of mother figure to me on set
everyone: oooooohhhh!!
haha
Everyone claps so hard for dear Una :P
"Your pupils were dilated "
dilated*
My wish is that someone would write a romantic comedy for Benedict & Louise
because they have wonderful on screen chemistry and it would be nice seeing them play characters who get together. Please forgive the typo in the previous message. I left out the word "be" between to & exactly.
next time put the mics ON the actors. Sheesh. Can't hear them hardly at all.
WHERE IS MORIARTY !
I find it adorable that Benedict and Una have such a close relationship c:
I can't believe, that this blonde man is my Sherlock ;(
I found I had to listen through headphones to hear this properly. Too quiet otherwise.
am i the only one that find it a bit ironic that the british filminstitutes videos' doesn't even have good sound?
What highlight does Benedict use?
I'm glad I'm not the only person that had trouble hearing this, genuinely thought I'd gotten really bad ear damage, but no. Just god ol' crappy audio recording.
Can I just say, why was Una not invited onto the stage? She was in this episode too you know.
Vicky Lee so was Martin
@@julianelovesyou1130 but he was in New Zealand not in the audience 😉
As a HUGE fan of the original stories, I just have to express my utter appreciation for this series! BBC has done an amazing job, and I can't wait to see what is coming next!
He does not look good as a blonde. It washes him out.
I think he had to dye it for Parade's End.
+Kate Miller It _doesn't_ wash him out. I'm sorry, but what are you talking about? He's Benedict Cumberbatch. Look at his face. Look at his eyes. Look at *him*. Maybe it doesn't catch your eye anymore, but you can't wash out his personality. You cannot step over Benedict Cumberbatch. And he comes in all colours available to the human genome: blond, redheaded, brunet. The tenor of your comment suggests you are well acquainted with his image and his presence, so that you can make a connoisseur's remark, but it strikes me how shallow it comes out to be when put to the test. Why would you say that?
+Akil Ali No, it's not _that_
@6:32 At first, I heard Mark said "HE's gay, SHE's not interested.." when it's actually the other way round. LMAO XD
Naturally, the episode keeps us in suspense. A good story does. She whips him, gets her phone back, gets him to reveal the code, humiliates him in front of his brother, and if it weren't for his last-minute HUNCH, she'd have gotten away with it. So, yes, Sherlock's intuition (it was a lucky GUESS, not logic) triumphed, along with his rejection of her. But then he rescues her. Out of sentiment or oneupsmanship? It ain't logical reasoning. Why not let the bitch get executed? Sherlock's human. Yay.
Damn. Benedict is ROCKIN' that lavender polo! Yum.
I love how Ben mentions Martin almost every time he talks :)
I can barely hear it on my speakers, but it's relatively loud on my headphones. So if you're having audio problems, try your headphones.
I just love the utter intelligence in that room
Now why can't all her interviews be like that!?!
I can't watch anymore Benedict videos because I get sad that I'll never meet him! He's such a great actor, he portrays all his characters so perfectly.
"Sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side." Sherlock to Irene. Naturally he's angry at her and redeeming himself in front of his brother who accused him of naivete'. He may not be a virgin, but I suspect whatever sexual ventures he had in the past were experimental and self-seeking. Why would Molly want such an indifferent lover? Why would Sherlock be motivated to sleep with her? For him it would serve no purpose except to gain something else. "I took your pulse."
I really loved Sherlock and Irene's relationship. It was kind of an intellectual love. But those two will never be 'together' because neither of them are of that temperament, which kind of breaks my heart, because the chemistry was UNBELIEVABLE
@KT. Adler is perfect for Sherlock. Listen to the interview w/ Lara's insights into her own character: Irene is flawed, damaged, frightened, wearing a mask--the makeup, the nudity, the mobile phone that can't be "interpreted." Sherlock is the same: the long coat, the scarf, the hair that covers his face, the intellect that pushes out sentiment. "They saw each other," she said. "It was like looking in a mirror." Old cliche' about how women only like the bad guys applies as well to Sherlock.
It's so annoying how the interviewer keep stressing the "love story" angle... it was barely a love story. I love the character analysis with the masks and stuff, the "love" angle was 0.1 percent of the interaction between Sherlock and Irene. I wish people wouldn't oversimplify it into a plain ol' romance.
English isn't my first language and hearing at this low is just like I'm deaf, can't make out anything @.@
But I guess seeing Benedict is enough for me :)
"Mrs. Hudson was attacked by an American. I'm setting the universe back in order."
Oh how I wish someone would write a romantic comedy for Benedict & Louise. Maybe Sherlock wouldn't be indifferent to Molly. It is still too soon for them to get together anyway. Once wouldn't hurt anything. Two or three times a years wouldn't be too much for him.I'd settle for John seeing him coming home the next morning from Molly's place with part of his shirt hanging out of his pants.
For me it was the writing and the direction and Martin Freeman the first three seasons.
Well, although BC looks hot no matter what, I do prefer the longer & darker hair on him.
I like Benedict with darker hair. The light colour washes him out too much.
I disagree with you too. She was amazing and played her role to the fullest. To me, and this is only my humble opinion she is the best Adler ever played
pfft Benedict looks so uncomfortable when the interviewer mentions how much people liked the bed sheet scene.
When they were talking about Martin it really touched my heart.
I know, I felt a little confused by their relationship, too! But mostly, I couldn't decide what I thought about the end of the episode--whether it showed if Sherlock actually loved her, or what exactly he felt for her. I still am not entirely sure, but I think he did--it was just never spoken or acted upon. Ultimately, it's a lot easier for me to relate to John and Sherlock's relationship, too, rather than Sherlock's with Irene.
That's where the got the idea for the end of the pool scene from, then...
Addendum (second reply)... the show never led us to believe she beat him (at least that's how I read it). However... however... she DID GET to him. In some small way. ;) And that makes the story more interesting than if he had remained coldly deductive throughout. (The "hound" got to him, too. We need to know that he is human.)
It's my favourite cause I get to see Benedict basically naked x3
Nah seriously it's an awesome episode, I love it the most because you see Sherlock, not exactly fall in love, but begin to have feelings for Irene and I think it's just beautiful.
He already does love her. In the way he loves his other "friends." Which is to say in a way that he won't recognize as loooove, but does treat as loyalty... and need. But he's not and never will be IN love with Molly.
I was always pretty confused about Irene. I still am... but this helps.
The interview makes me wish this show had conventions like Supernatural. *sigh*
try captions it helps
Yet the captions are APPALLING. With such rich material, please get an actual human being to transcribe. Whatever auto program you're using is rubbish.
I wish Martin was there, or at least heard everything they said about him :)
Martin does at least. Benedict mentioned it in an interview. Someone asked about fanfiction and fanart and Ben said something along the lines of "Martin knows more about it that I do. He's like 'look at this Tumblr!',"
Is it just me or Mark Gatiss does wear greatly similar outfit than Mycroft does in the series?
He looks better with darker hair
Im a huge Johnlock fan, but god damn the chemistry between Irene ans Sherlock is amazing... thats the truth.
@ste11astar haha, no problem. and wow, i'm surprised; i thought several people had done it already xP now i feel kind of bad for actually being THE person. but don't worry, your comment's overall statement deserves all the attention. :)
@AkaneCoeur I'm literally the only person who even knows about it at my school. And it's frustrating because the point of my obnoxious fangirling is completely missed. Nobody even knows who Benedict Cumberbatch is :/

Omg, omg, omg, omg!!! I can't wait!! I love them soooo much.
I love how they explain Sherlock sexuality and his relationship with Irene.
@ste11astar totally agree. :)
(and i hate to be THAT person, but... i think you mean "it doesn't HURT that the lead actors are nice on the eyes".)
You can't possibly say that the worst thing about Sherlock is Irene Adler and then say that the reason was the actress. You either don't like the character or don't like the actress. Or maybe, you don't like either, but if you don't like how Irene was written in the show, you can't jump to the conclusion that Lara Pulver is an incompetent actress, especially if you haven't seen any of her other work. She's worked on the West End for many years, which is considered the Broadway of the U.K.
this was the best episode so far i think. beautiful ending.
We're a small, and by small I mean gigantic, fandom living in the Tumblr asylum. It's fun, you should visit us sometime. We live off of jam and crumpets, and obsess over red pants and purple shirts. Sometimes, we even come up with a Reichenbach theory. And remember, never call a Sherlockian mentally unstable. We will skin you and make you into shoes :).
@kamwrites Why? It's true. I'm not saying that I hate them; I'm a huge fan of Sherlock and I love the cast. It's just that the lighting is so awful, and their acting so normal. It's funny to me because it's kind of like having a conversation with a white elephant in the room and not acknowledging that it's there. The ludicriousness of the situation makes me laugh.
Good god, I keep seeing a whole load of people talking about how Sherlock is popular at their schools and it's so disconcerting! I swear that I am literally the only person who likes Sherlock at my school. Grrr! What is it like in their funny little brains? It must be so boring!
@littleJenTower i read somewhere that he's a redheard, which seems to be the only hair colour where i've not seen any roots show. they put a lot of pale foundation on him in sherlock, which could explain the eyebrows??
@Treeonfire15 I'm pretty sure, that he's naturally blond. You can see it on his brows, they're blond too. And I don't think they dyed it for War Horse, because they didn't dye it for Sherlock either. Who dyes brows anyway???
They've read smut. So yes, I dare say they've found their way onto Tumblr. Unfortunately for them :P
wait they mentioned they liked the movie The Privet Life of Sherlock Holmes. Isn't this the movie where Sherlock tells a woman he is in a relationship with Watson in order not have sex with her? Huh.
Oh my gosh, I loved the Sherlock/Mrs. Hudson relationship before, but now I know their in-real-life relationship, it all makes so much sense. alksjdfha the emotions.
Same here! everyone just keeps asking why I am wearing a hat that ugly. It's a DEERSTALKER! Do your research.
There are some of them in my school. But I don't notice them. Sadly.
Have they agreed beforehand on the position their legs? xD
Only Benedict changed his pose at all times
(P.S. Sorry, but my English is VERY bad, I'm from Russia :D)
who else thinks they should have shown up in character...?
you know
ben in a sheet
lara naked
mark with -
oh, wait, he's already in a suit
mark with his umbrella, then
:)
Really random but, did anyone notice that at 5:15 all the boys are crossing the legs the same way & the girls are doing the same but in the opposite direction?
if this was an american audience the women would be going nuts. men would cheer to cause Benedict is a bad ass as sherlock can't wait for season 3.
It is kind of implied in the first episode that he is gay
But it is left unsaid for now
I think it's what is great with him...this kind of ambiguity
The best episode yet! Bring on series 3!!!
@geschreiben nope. naturally a red head . His hair is probably blonde here for shooting the movie War Horse, could be wrong about that bit though.
@AkaneCoeur I feel sorry for you! /: I don't have a single friend who doesn't love it >
wouldn't it be interesting if Benedict played Spock in the JJ Abrams's Star Trek film, and NOT Zachary Quinto? Sherlock does remind me of Spock at times, with his intellect and his lack of proper emotions and such. Watson even calls him Spock in season 2, episode 2 I believe. LOL! Can't wait for Star Trek 2 to see more Benedict!
Hahaha yes it seems like it :D. Alot of people have been giving similar answers :). Might have to join tumblr to be with my fellow fans.
I dont like it because Sherlock is completely out of character :/ Although the beginning of the episode is awesome :) then Irene comes..
Why would Sherlock only fall for a "baddie woman"? How heteronormative of them, and on top of that, what a erasure of asexuality!
@jbenal Fucking yes. all the sounds are up to the max and scared the shit out of myself when I played something else.
i can not get over the simailarity bewtween mark and who played mycroft - forgotten the name now haha whoopsies
I am guessing that its because its a live panel and the sound isn't controlled as the room must have been vast :P
brillaint information there but why is it sooo quiet. Got my speakers on full blast and only just about hear it?
Vibrating phone in your pocket... Most... Most excitement... All year... WHAT MARK WHAT ARE YOU SAYING. O.o
A lot of people seem to reference tumblr in Sherlock youtube vids, do tumblr have a large Sherlock fanbase?
досмотрела до конца, даже ничего не поняв.. нужно учить английский....
I thought that Moffat said that Sherlock was gay for a second there.
almost lost my fangirl mind
