Originally I didn't want to see this movie. However my sisters tricked me into seeing it mainly because puns are my second language. Puns aside, I enjoyed how fun the movie was, and often it does look like the writers and animators enjoyed each moment working on it.
Shame you overlooked the AMAZING one-take sequence of the peguins landing on multiple planes.Think of it as the animated equivalent of the Daredevil fight scene.

I thought All Hail King Julien was fine as a prequel show but now that u mentioned it, I have seen better with the penguins in their show and keeping Julien as a comedy relief.
This is sad the last PDI film before it close down. I don’t know what happened the computer graphics animation studios from 1980s. Pixar and Blue Sky Studios I believe they’re last survivors and I wanted to see the fate of Disney, Pixar and Blue Sky weather they’re have a bright future or going to the dark age together. Simply like Toy Story 3 trash compactor scene. Toys represent Disney, Pixar and Blue Sky Compactor represents the future.
Disney already went 2 that dark age in the 80's. And at the time in the 2000's DreamWorks Animation and Blue Sky Studios became popular with their movies mostly competing with Pixar. Later came Sony Pictures Animation and Illumination Entertainment.
Minions is a prequel, not a spin-off movie. Whoever watched the Minions movie knows who showed up at the end proving it's a prequel 2 the Despicable Me trilogy.
The Netflix show actually has Julian be way more likeable. I kinda wish the lemur characters were always like how they are in that series but then Julian not really being liked by any of the other character's wouldn't really make as much sense.

This movie infuriated me way maore than it should have. If the show hadn't been so great in my opinion, I might have just found this average. The show avoided all the plain writing that the movie relished in
@@abrahamcortina6322 If you watch the series, you would find out that it’s actually canon to the movies as there’s continuity between it & the films. The animation’s also not bad & ugly. Sure it’s a low budget animation compared to the movies but that’s because it’s a TV series, not a movie! CGI was very hard to animate on television back then and for what it’s worth, the animation for the POM series is actually good and impressive for its time.
A lot of resets? Is this gonna be some sort of strategy RPG (Not Fire Emblem because A. Nintendo is a bitch when it comes to their IP's & B. Only a handful of games have characters that are at least part animal that aren't some sort of manakete which are dragons)

Well said. That's exactly how I felt when I watched the movie. I thought it was descent but man the pacing dragged on certain parts of the movie.
I never saw the other movies of the Madagascar series. I enjoyed the film and how they did it. I would say I'd give it a solid 3.5/5
The penguins are a good example of comic relief sidekicks that get more screen time but never overstay their welcome.

I don't know why, but I think while Dave is a pretty good villian, he's also pretty creepy both with his human disguise and as an octopus.
