I like how close the camera is to your face. Too many tutorials are filmed from so far away that it's hard to tell what is actually going on.
I agree! However, IMO it could have been even better if at the very end, after these close shots she had then pulled back and shown us the difference in these two looks from say a normal speaking distance such as the distance most people use when speaking to someone face to face.

I know this video was from 5 years ago but it is absolutely on point. I've watched literally thousands of videos on eye makeup and how to properly place it on, especially for hooded eyes, but your tutorial is far superior. It is to the point, does not add in any extra unnecessary "fluff", and it covers and shows exactly what needs to be done to open the eye versus common mistakes we all have made that end up making our eyes look small and sunken. So I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this video. I appreciate it very much and from what I've read in the comments, I am not alone in saying it. 🙏😊

Same, came across this today and it may be 5 years old but after countless hooded eyes tutorials, this time it finally clicked what I was doing wrong and why. It really helped that this was to the point and not bogged down with product names and a nice length that wasn’t overwhelming.

Exactly!!! ...I hate when they give their life story...or play-by-play on why they're doing the video...why it took so long to make it... Blah blah blah. That fact alone made me keep watching her. I usually lose interest before they even get to the point. Or I skip past "back story" mess to get to the good stuff... if I do watch.

I have downturned/hooded eyes and this is probably the most helpful tips/tutorial video for them I've seen so far. I was basically watching the "bad" eye the whole time going "b-but... isn't that how you DO eyeshadow???" No wonder I can never get any of the eye looks I try to work out quite right. I have hooded eyes and have watched tons of videos on how to "properly" do your eye makeup. They were ALL wrong! THIS! This is the way I should've been doing it the WHOLE TIME! I feel personally attacked! 😂 I literally used to do all of these things. I knew the way I did it wasn’t flattering so stopped wearing eyeshadow and winged liner years ago. But I just tried your way and it actually looks great and only took a few minutes! Probably the best makeup tutorial I have ever seen. Thank youuuu ❤️

Heather Ainsworth same! I always tried to do winged liner (I am 38) and I saw someone say to skip eye liner if you have hooded eyes or do tight lining a few months ago. I have not used eye liner since and have never been happier with my make up. I look so much younger and fresher.

It's really hard to find good hooded eye make-up videos but this was REEEEALLY good! Super easy to follow and great tips! Also, I'm gonna agree with some people below; thank you for not overexplaining or going into brand names and exact colours and brushes and suff. This was all we needed to know, no more, no less. yeah im in my fifties and i am stuck in the dark eyeshadow on lid , highlight area under eyebrows and black eyeliner look...quite 70's lol it is great to learn a new way of doing it and yes it does help my hooded eyes.
You have helped SO many people with this tutorial! I wasnt allowed to wear makeup until I got on my own and didnt have anybody teach me and have never had a make-over ever, even though I always wanted too! You have done in about ten minutes what I couldnt understand for decades! We're talking TOTAL gamechanger! Everyone compliments my eye color BUT its always been downplayed because of droopy hooded eyes! It feels great to know that I can achieve the results I want!!!

Loved the video; at 55 I've got one on left eye drooping & not naturally; I had a small cyst removed in my eye brow area in my early 30's, but then the drooping started around 40's mabye but now at 55 truly shows up, great tutorial on hiding that awful droop we ladies deal with..🌟❣

This was a great tutorial! I’ve put on eye make-up all my life. But as I’m getting older and my eyes are hooded now I’ve to change the technique. This war easy to understand I didn’t get overwhelmed with brand names and colours and brushes of certain products.

Another good tip which looks great on hooded eyes is to use a dark colour on the a third or quarter of the lid on the outside (not the inside near the tear duct) and smoke it slightly so it blends in with the dark colour above the lid. Then use a lighter colour on the rest of the lid. That gives a lovely open look to the eye and can be perfect for both day and evening. I also love using the colour I have used on the side and above my lid underneath my lower lashes and then use a slightly sparkly shadow (like Stila Magnificent Metals in Sea Siren) over the top under my lashes and then put my mascara on. It really opens your eyes, also makes them look larger. I do this all the time and am forever getting compliments on my eye shadow looks. Also tightlining your eyes (on the upper eye) really enhances your lashes and makes them look thicker and longer. Make sure when doing this that the item is waterproof or tear proof so it doesn't smudge etc later in the day x

God, she saved me! I've been doind everything wrong. I've been having so many problems with my hooded eyes, even when I went to make up artists just to glam me up for an event or something. I've began to doubt my beauty and I was considering to do a plastic surgery because I didn't like my eyes and I was always so gealous on other girls that had those large sockets because I wanted that shit. XD
I'm 55 and just learning how to do this correctly. Paid a few times to have lessons but I learned nothing. This is wayyy better!! The best to you!!!

I just watched this video and I am amazed at how simple it is to lift a hooded eye with makeup. I have done all the don'ts, so I will try the dos and I am sure I will love the results. I seriously was looking for a short video and passed anything that was longer than 10 or 12 minutes. Thank you for the wonderful tips that work and keeping it short and sweet and easy to understand!

This is the video I didn't know I was looking for. I always got that extra crease whenever I put on eyeshadow, so for years now I've always been very careful to only put eyeshadow on the eyelid, never around. Now I can actually start experimenting with colors and shape :D

Thank you so much for your version for the hooded eye. Over the last couple years I have noticed mine droop more than they did. Aging, over 55. I really liked your instruction and took notes for my next application of my makeup. I saw some of my errors and haven't been very happy with how my eyes turn out lately. I have been trying different looks. Not are all for the hooded eye. I like yours the best so far. I will be watching more.

Thank you for such a eye opening video. As someone with heavily hooded and slight droopy eyes, this has indeed helped SO MUCH! I always wonder why following the usual common eye makeup color sequence and technuques we were taught cannot work, and why eyeliner always make my eyes smaller. Now I know I can skip eyeliner and reverse eyeshadow colors instead. THANK YOU !!!!

Thank you for this tutorial! I have always struggled with putting on eyeshadow because the color disappeared on my hooded eyelids. Now 30 plus years later, gravity has made my upper eyelids droop even more. I have started using eyeshadow to make my eyes more noticeable but I have still put on makeup exactly the way you showed us not to. I was so frustrated! Trying to decide what style i wanted to do for an upcoming wedding, This was the BEST advice ive seen on youtube for hooded downturned eyes. I never gravitated to what u did on the right side, but didnt understand why . U just made it all make sense. Thank you ❤❤

Wow thank you you just taught me what I've been doing wrong. I learnt to do make-up 25 years ago and it's time I updated my look. Now I know how to do my eyes properly so the lids aren't so hooded. Usually I'd do some of the things you did on the right eye and the difference is amazing
Loved this video! I have hooded lids and learned about applying the lighter shadow to the bottom half and the darker to the top. I like how you show your face close up so I can see how the smudging and creating a cat eye is done. The eye liner tips are great as I never did know how to use it without it looking costumey. Yikes, no wonder mom hated my baby bat goth phase in highschool, I did everything you mentioned on the right! Luckily I can go for a more subdued (but still totally goth) look now that actually compliments my hooded eyes. Thanks for breaking it down!
