These screen protectors vary in thickness from .30mm (ESR) to .71mm (Torras), which can effect touch sensitivity, durability, and lip clearance above the screen. The thinner protectors can be more fragile while providing better sensitivity and clearance. The thicker protectors are usually tougher but can negatively affect sensitivity and make the case lip effectively shorter.
How do you rate this screen protectors, since you haven’t mentioned at all how much of the visible part of the screen is covered by this screen protectors with black borders? Next time when you do a test, open the front facing camera and see how much it covers the white lines on the side. That’s a proper test and one that everyone is looking on the new 16 Pro Max, since display has thinner bezels and all screen protectors have thick black borders that covers part of the screen and bleed light on the side of it.
Ordered the Caudabe Sheath for my 16 plus after watching and hearing about them on your channel. Ordered the Torres screen protector also, love the new dust catchers that companies are doing now. Can’t wait for my Caudabe case it is a first for me.
I would've liked to have seen how each screen protector fits on the phone. I've tried screen protectors from Anker, Spigen, and ESR on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Each either don't cover the whole screen (which can be seen when viewing the Camera Control UI) and others have sharp edges, which matters if you're not using a case or using a case with an exposed bottom. I've given up on screen protectors for this phone until I see one that fits without covering part of the screen image or leaving it exposed.
@ I meant with the screen on to show the coverage. You showed the screen protectors with the screen off, which doesn’t really show anything except lack of air bubbles. Sorry for not being more clear.
@@ddlevineI can’t understand why these TH-camrs never check for edge coverages, rainbow effects, thickness, and touch sensitive… What exactly are they reviewing then? This is just a screen protector application ASMR.
It would be nice to see a responsiveness test for these. I purchased the ESR protector for my 16 Pro Max after watching this video, and the typing experience was absolutely terrible. I had to take it off after just one day of use.
Did the ESR cover the whole screen even though it did not have that black border or did it cover as much of the screen as one with the black border such as the Torras?
I have the iPhone 16 pro max and I’m on to my third Spigen screen protector already so very disappointed, strangely no issue at all on my previous iPhone 14 Pro Max, it’s almost as if the slightly bigger screen is the difference & is creating stress fracturing. Will have to try one of the other brands next time.
Great video Michael, thank you! If you could say, which one felt best in your opinion when swiping around? I tried spigen once but it has really sharp edges and feels very uncomfortable.
I agree with you on that, the Spigen’s edges are sharp. I’m not just saying this because they sponsored the video but the Torras is what i’m using currently and its edges are smooth. I would rank the ESR 2nd and the Spigen 3rd.
Very informative. Any suggestions on protectors that don’t cover up the camera? I find that protectors that go can really compromise the quality of photos/videos. Thank you.
My Spigen case was quite fragile. I dropped my phone lightly and it chipped and cracked. Sensitivity on it is fine but the fragility is pushing me to try the thicker Torras case.
@@Tensilver-in9xzI know you didn’t ask me either but I wouldn’t myself. It has no coating so it fingerprints right out the box. I personally use ultraglass screen protectors and I love them. Easy to install (unlike spigen and mous) So no issues there
Well.. If you have Apple Care and you want the best thinnest experience.. don't use a screen protector. The excess for a screen replacement is £25 which is in and around the price of screen protectors.
I had my IPhone 12 for 5 yrs without a screen protector and there wasn’t a single scratch on the screen. However, there’s already a scratch on my IPhone 16 just for 6 months.
@@MichaelsTechTalk You didnt understand me... I mean blocking some margins of the screen in the camera app. So your cant completely see the "L"s in the corners of the camera visor.
Iphone's camera lens is made with sapphire glass, which means you don't need a lens protectors to keep it from any scratches. on top of that, if you're using a lens protector, it may reduce the quality of the camera.
@@AmyCRoszak just don’t use it. I never scratched lenses, even not using a case for years. I’m planning using just a screen protector because my 14 pro got some small scratches.
I do a lot of outdoor adventuring and was glad I had lens protectors on my 14pro. Sure, a raised rim around the lenses of a case will protect the lenses if phone falls or is placed on a flat surface. But if falls (or meets a sharp, pointy hard rock or pebble (think basalt), the case rim does not protect the lenses … One of my lens protectors shattered when I was hiking and climbing over and around large rocks. After that, I’ve always carrying some extra lenses with me when I travel. It’s never happened again, but that time could have been horrible had one of the lenses shattered! I don’t know if the lens material is hard enough to have not shattered like the protector did, but it makes me leery. PS I just learned that 9h camera glass and 9 on the moh’s hardness scale are completely different. 9h is a measurement on a pencil scratch scale, very resistant to scratching- it’s about a 3 on mohs hardness scale similar to calcite (calcium carbonate). avalonking.com/blogs/blog/what-is-9h-hardness-explained-by-avalonking?srsltid=AfmBOoqFpScxMPfyaK2lpiQKDk-NlsLvLAW_KecHlew_nmwI1fAV17zt
The ESR protector has a visible band at the bottom which has clearly not made contact with the screen, maybe the protector moved when you applied it...
I’ll be honest, i’ve never used them. Good cases usually provide good enough protection for lenses. But if you’re rocking your phone case less i would recommend using them.
@MichaelsTalkTech. Read that you are expecting to review the Flolab screen protector. Interested to see what you think. I have a 15 pro max. My ranking would be. 1A. which screen protector provide white border on the edge for iphone 16 pro max?
Not sure tbh. A white edge screen protector would look very dated on a 16 Pro Max.
