So true! When I was a kid nobody had anything. We were the gen x kids, played outside all day until I the street lights came on, neighbors were our community and we borrowed freely and were chastised and welcomed freely as well. We’ve become so isolated that we don’t have that sense of all day, day in, day out constant learning from elders and youngers. I’m so happy you mentioned all this! Congratulations on your date anniversary 👏🥰

Well said. I never thought the way we grew up would be obsolete and we would fondly remember how it ‘used to be’.

You are right; I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and in school we always had to buy our own school supplies. If you only had the 24 Crayola crayons and another had the 64 Crayola Crayons you felt badly. It was always about getting more to fit in or be the okay kid. When I look back, I believe America has this superiority with stuff. Why can’t we be taught that it is about our characters, morals and showing love?

Congratulations on your 15-year anniversary. That is really sweet.
I can totally relate to the charging cord. I do that with a lot of things where I think maybe I'll get it to work later even though I know it won't. It's funny how we do things like that.
I love that tea kettle that you used in the video. It's really cool.

I’ve always been super messy and no matter how much I declutter, how many good intentions I have, systems in place, I can never keep on top of it for long. Of course, having mecfs makes it harder but it turns out, I’m just realising at nearly 50, I may have adhd…

I totally agree with you about the storage concept and the idea we might need something... Except for hdmi cords. I was certain we needed no more than 3 hdmi cords, to my husband's supportive dismay. Welp. We've since purchased 2 hdmi cords. RIP. Otherwise, 100percebt success rate.
Now I just have 1 bin of 'in case'. That's our allotment and we do not exceed that allotment regardless of the category.

You are so right about relationships. First, my relationship with God brings me the most joy and fulfillment. After that my family, friends and people I meet add so much to my life. None of this can be found in anything material. You made some good points and certainly things to ponder. Blessings in 2024.

Best things I've done for keeping my home clean:
-Decluttering (aka prioritizing my time and life over hoarding)
-Taking my kids out to play if my home is any level of caught up or tidy (cause being a SAHM is like running an in home daycare- things get wild.. even the couch cushions have legs)
-Creating a simple routine around morning tasks (chlorox wipe bathroom, dishes, laundry, make the bed etc) and a daily tidy up (my basket has a trash bag, a donate box, and space for misplaced items)
-Finding storage solutions that work for the messiest members of the family (thank you Clutterbug channel!)
-Requiring single layer storage (I consider it over cluttered if I can't see things at a glance because it's so easy for things to get lost)

I feel like single layer storage sounds like something that would help me but I’m not 100% sure what it is I think a video on this & some ideas would be amazing! I definitely get that out of sight out of mind with some of my things even if I think I’m organizing them in the best way if I can’t see them I forget about them. Ie sweaters stacked in drawers.

I've always wanted to see a beautiful antique gold mirror above the fireplace or behind the couch to catch the sunlight from the windows. I think that would be really pretty and to make your living room not seem so clutter. I would definitely not put as much stuff on your back cabinet on the surface. I think it would be so airy and pretty. I already love your place 🥰
