    chuck some bricks in it and leave it to spin for 20 minutes making a complete racket.....right by the next door neighbours bed room window (while shes on nights thus waking her up after a 12 hour shift)....while you go and sit in your van up the road for a power nap!

      You forgot to turn the radio on full blast whilst wearing your earplugs.

      Or rinse it out with a hammer.

      On a Sunday preferably. Oh and leave your radio blaring too.

    best way is a couple buckets of water and then a few buckets of ballast in it till the ballast is nearly coming out the opening. leave it spinning for 10, 15, 20 minutes and it will be spotless and smooth inside. the outside is another issue. otherwise a hosepipe to blast it clean. i like to do the ballast, water and some brick acid technique every few months.

    Great video. Just hired a mixer and needed to know how to clean it before I started 👍

    I personally use water and some gravel which helps to loosen any mix left.

    • @Onlinesully
      @Onlinesully 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that’s one of the best tried and tested ways to do it.
      you definitely know what you’re doing there.

    P gravel and a hose. Tip the crap into wheel barrow after 5 minutes of rumbling around

  • @alexboag1053
    @alexboag1053 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are you able to do a more step-by-step guide? As I got left behind after the wheelbarrow part, as I didn't have a wheelbarrow and didn't know what do... :(

    Is this a fkn joke? You actually made a 3 min video on how to rinse a rotating drum with water?

    • @leepocklington8532
      @leepocklington8532 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Greaux on how to clean an already clean drum mate hahah. Our mixer is a disgrace compared to this only used once brand new mixer. It has done about 200 more mixes though. ✌🏻

      Yes. It's British humour. They're better at comedy than construction. It takes all sorts.

    Let your stuff go hard,then hit drum repeatedly with a claw hammer or similar,hammer paddles too until they break on the inside of the drum,finally tip out slops from the mixer around the mixer,setting it to the ground in principle,thus impossible to shift at the job end.I have seen this in the past.Or be savvy,clean out with gravel,shovel of stone,few half bricks and water at the day's end,and protect from frost.

  • @Benzknees
    @Benzknees 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great but what do you do with the cement slurry in the bucket? Hopefully not tip it down the nearest gulley or onto the ground.

    • @Joebunkyss1
      @Joebunkyss1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Benzknees use it next day.....the water seperates then tip the sludge on ground and it dries out.....you can reuse it....just count it as sand.....the cement in it is dead.

    • @Benzknees
      @Benzknees 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott Awaywithit Hope you're joking! Mortar works by the cement slurry bonding to the small particles of sand, which are carefully selected, dried and graded to produce the strength, consistency and colour the user needs. Even if you went at set mortar with a hammer you could never break it into whatever sand sized particles were required. Having odd sized lumps in the mix would much reduce the creation of the correct matrix that forms a good mortar, and also absorb water unevenly inhibiting the set to parts of the mix. It would crack and fall apart over time.

    I went wrong somewhere, followed the pointers up to step 3 but got my testicles stuck in the mixer blades. Where did I go wrong?! Please help.

  • @francisdolan8861
    @francisdolan8861 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe that might work if you used for one mix but if your using a mixer all day you need to put small rocks with a bucket of water and leave it for 5min then throw in a bucket of water when you empty out the rocks

    Light a small constant fire in the drum. Allow to burn for an hour. The metal drum expands and any hard lumps no matter how big simply tap off with minimal effort. All you guys claiming to have gorgeous mixers must be doing site work where cleaning out is easy. Not so easy doing private work.

    • @147pw
      @147pw 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      dont use this method, it will melt all the grease around the spindle of the drum and knacker it.

    absolute waste of time video. If your relying on videos on here to help you clean out a mixer. I'd actually give up now!
    Not one for posting negative comments, but some times you've just got to be honest!

      Are you serious? Give up now? First off, you clicked on this video like the rest of us. Second, if people have never cleaned a mixer, doesn't it make sense to find out? People like you should think thrice before leaving comments.

    Turn on mixer. Pour in water. If you needed a youtube video to help you do this, you shouldn't be using a cement mixer.
