The phase converter still works. Never had any issues. I now have 4 of them for use on different machines. Swapped out the single phase motor on my Delta tablesaw with a 3 phase...
Frank, I am going to wire a Lathe by the Hendey Machine Co. The motor is a GE Induction Motor 3phase 220/440 5.6/2.8 amps. 2HP Full Speed load 1740. The previous owner had 12gauge thhn. which is good for 20a. But the NEC states that my conductors shall have an ampacity not less than 250% of the sum of the full load 3-phase current rating. I'm confused on the amp rating once its converted to single phase. Thanks for your help!
Cool. If you'd like, comment once you get it and do the install. I'm on the fence about one still. I really need the full motor hp for my lathe from a VFD, but on the other hand they are inexpensive, and 2/3's power in a few days is better than a machine just sitting there for a few months.

Is the unit still working in 2017? I am considering buying one for my lathe.
John Strange yes. Just used it tonight. I have 3 others as well, table saw, sander, bandsaw. All different size converters, diff size motors.
Frank, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. It looks like I'll go with one of these for my 1hp South Bend lathe. Are you using 10awg wire?
John Strange yes. 10 gauge wire
Dose the phase converter have a switch on it or is it just hot all the time?
What are you planning to power up, lathe or a mill, or?? I'm interested in any thoughts or advice on these. Thanks.
Erstwhile it is wired in, no switch. Just sits there not doing anything until machine is turned on....then converts.
John Strange I'm looking at powering at surface grinder, b&s 612. Ordered one of these yesterday will see how it goes

Does it still work?
Yes. Still works.
