Love your auction math. This is exactly why I became a seller, so I could get the pieces I really wanted by selling the pieces I was not as in love with.
Hello Mary 🤗 As always it is such a pleasure to listen to you as I do so with much attention and pleasure. I had been away so I am catching up on your videos. I loved learning about Robert Kime and Tangier Homes. Every book you feature is a treasure as is this one. I wish I could have every book you feature as part of my little library collection. It always amazes me as you show the various designers, how they manage to mix colors and decor pieces that I would never think would work together but they do. In a world like TH-cam where everyone wants all neutral colors and where beige and white are the go to colors, these beautiful books are a real breath of fresh air which seem to give anyone permission to live thier dream life through color and not be afraid to do so. I always appreciate how you surprise us with either making a favorite recipe, drink mix or like today, how you bid at an auction. It was so interesting. I am not good at math but I understood how you came out a winner!! All very fascinating. Thank you for taking us along and showing us this part of your life. I look forward to seeing you again next week. I wish you and Daniel as most wonderful weekend!! ☀️😊☀️
Daniel is a hoot ~ Thank you for the auction tour and how you can make a profit. The pieces were divine and would be hard to resist in some cases. The book review had so many beautiful pieces and decor was so colorful. Loved the collection of birds in your own room and you will find just the right pieces for both sides of the wall. Have a nice weekend.
Brilliant! Thank you for showing the method of acquiring such beautiful pieces! The upcoming auction looks very inviting. A lover of Asian pieces, I've dreamed about having a Quan Yin for years. My husband surprised me on our 50th anniversary with a beautifully carved wooden one. Another unexpected surprise was it was sent by freight truck that couldn't maneuver up the long driveway. Out came the leather gloves and we unloaded and carried the well packed, heavy wooden crate ourselves. It was still a surprise and so worth the wait! Enjoy the weekend and thank you for another great video🌺
Wonderful book review today, every page was a delight. Mary, you have nerves of steel for those auctions, I applaud you on your strategy. I’m so happy you got the piece you wanted. I love it when Daniel pops into one of your videos, I bet there is never a dull moment around your house. 😊
Daniel always makes me laugh. Cherish him, speaking from experience of loosing my dear hubby too soon, he also made me laugh. Thank you for explaining how you buy at auctions. ❤
Another awesome book review, Mary - thank you! We followed our kids from Texas to North Carolina a year ago, bringing only what we could fit in our vehicles. Needless to say, my much loved decorating books didn’t make the cut. So the reviews feed my soul and help me build my decorating library again. Really enjoyed the auction bidding; I need to watch it a couple more times because I’ve never done it but would like to. Also, will you share the paint color of your family room? I think it’s so pretty! Thank you!
Thank you! It is a Benjamin Moore color from their historic series. I forgot the exact name, but as soon as I can get my hands on my color and fabric sample book, I'll let you know.
5:44 creativity blessed to delight in all arrays of life and the gifts of artistry by hands worn as much as the faded beauty in all and everything within us. I touch and feel pieces that are drawn to me. I imagine the hard work of the hands and how it’s lasted with such given ages of each. Blessed
Love your book reviews! I already have a collection and it keeps growing thanks to you! Ha. Just bought Alexa Hampton’s book after your review. This book is gorgeous! I’ve seen it but never looked inside because I keep telling myself no more books! (But, like your auction philosophy, it’s more of a suggestion 😂) Your husband is a crack up! I bet you have so much fun together.
Hi Mary, another great video thank you! Daniel is funny. My husband is the same way. He does it out with my children as well and is like that everywhere we go. Life is always exciting. I have 3 children instead of two. So many beautiful pieces! I love those silver pieces. Enjoy your new find!
Never get enough of your video’s , did need this today very much. Just relax and listnen to your voice, looking ad the pictures and Im feeling home. Gone all stress💁♀️ Feeling Always so joyfull after your video’s. Feeling grounded ,safe and relaxt in my home, after watching☺️ Thanx Mary for sharing your passion with me and all the others❤❤❤❤❤ Im also a bird lover🤩
I love everything in your home, it is all so beautiful! I really enjoy your channel every week. Wish I had found you sooner, I used to own a bed and breakfast in Clinton NC I would go to Wilmington a lot looking for Victorian pieces for my home. It was built in 1916 and what fun I had shopping!
Hi, I love your Herend Birds... They will certainly be a beautiful addition to your room! Since your room has a charming softness about it, May I suggest that you try using a pair of gold gilded wall sconces/shelves on either side of the windows, where you indicated. Then, add smaller gilded mirrors above the shelves... the mirrors will reflect light and further showcase your beautiful birds! I believe the scale of the mirror that you shared with us is a bit overwhelming for the space. I adore the brown pelican... I look forward to hearing the rest of Daniel's story ❤❤❤
Yes, Jen, I love and appreciate any feedback, especially when it’s presented in such a thoughtful way. I had a similar thought about the trumeau mirrors. They may be a bit overwhelming with everything else. I am now looking for a pair of small gilded sconces, but didn’t think about placing a small mirror behind the birds…great suggestion! I also thought about a pair of gold Louis XVI barometers. Chairish.com has some beautiful ones, but way out of my budget! Thanks again for your help! I hope you have a nice week ahead!
Hi Mary ! I am always wondering where do these people find all of these lovely items ?? Your room is beautiful , I can't wait to hear Daniel story !!Today I took myself to this little town, went into a lovely shop purchase a handpainted tile fruit picture thinking it would look wonderful about my stove it is to big !! I also purchased the Ralph Lauren book you shared and I again I thought where oh where did they purchase all of those wonderful items??Must have scouts !! Then I enjoyed a salad at a lovely little tea room! Have a super weekend .. hugs from Indiana ~~ Paula .p.s.your front porch is picture perfect, where did your blue &white from? are you afraid of getting broken?? Love your kitty
Your day sounds like it was a lovely one. What a nice treat. The blue and white pieces on my porch are reproductions and could be replaced. I do fill them with water so they are quite heavy and not affected by the wind. I purchased some from One Kings Lane and the pair from The Well Appointed House (I do remember they were on sale).
Hello Mary, am a fan of your channel, all the way from West Africa. Watched on of your episodes not while ago on the some of the Channels on youTube you liked, turns out am a fan on Nicholas Fairford and the Chateau Diaries. However other channels i like include; quintessence by Susanna Salk and Homeworthy by Allison Kenworthy. Excited to watch you on you journey as you channel grows.❤❤️❤️
Mary you always have the most interesting topics with the interior design books. I have a question? How do you decide what to collect or how to begin? Thanks for this wonderful video.😊
I found intricate vases that are silver and I thought of getting a pair. I found three black fan shaped vases and decided to get them. They were cheap. That was not the reason. I wanted 2 for behind my clear class panthers so I could pay homage to Chadwick Bozeman, the first black panther!
The unbearable weight of silver and other valuable items… Thank you so much for beauties you introduced… ( I hope I was able to express my feelings correctly.)💐
Hello- in English “unbearable” means very difficult or painful. Your comment implies you have a negative feeling toward the ownership of valuable items. If you enjoy owning fine things, you could say, “the joy of” or “the delight of”. Otherwise, your English is great!
Yes- they included the buyer premium and taxes. ( I won the second auction for $800.00, but paid $1000 due to these fees) I didn’t have to pay shipping as the auction was local and I could drive to pick them up. When I sell them, I do (in most cases) require the buyer to pay shipping and insurance on the items. You are right the buyers premium can get expensive. As far as the time and energy, this is something I enjoy, but only a few times each year.
Love your auction math. This is exactly why I became a seller, so I could get the pieces I really wanted by selling the pieces I was not as in love with.
Yes, auction math! It's really the only way I can make some of my purchases.
Thanks again Mary. Enjoyed the auction education. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, Joyce, you have a great weekend too!

Wonderful, as always. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you- next weeks book, "Home At Last", is FABULOUS! In my opinion.
Exquisite and inspiring... as always! Thanks, Mary... and Cheers!

Thank you- and you are right, "never a dull moment". When I need a dull moment, and I often do, I hide in my potting shed or close my bedroom door. 😁
Daniel always makes me laugh. Cherish him, speaking from experience of loosing my dear hubby too soon, he also made me laugh. Thank you for explaining how you buy at auctions. ❤
Thank you for the reminder to appreciate every minute. Daniel does keep me on my toes and usually laughing at the same time!
What a great channel Mary! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend!
Thank you for watching!
Tres chic! Congrats on the auction.😊
Everything was so beautifully displayed, gorgeous! I also love the pop of color on your chairs. Pretty touch.
Thank you!
Congratulations on your new addition to your drawing room 😂🎉
Thank you!!
YAY!!!!🏝💚
I love a good auction. The thrill of the hunt and bidding is intoxicating!
Thanks Mary! Loved the video
Thank you Mary. I'm a relatively new subscriber and am enjoying your content very much. Interesting and soothing at the same time.

Your beautiful living room reminds me of the Park Avenue showroom of Scully & Scully.
WOW! I don’t know about that, but what a nice comment, thank you. Scully & Scully is definitely one of my favorite places to shop!

Good for Daniel! I think they're ridiculous too 😂
We have exactly the same nail polish color. I call it Jamaica pink. 🙂
I am really finicky about finger nail polish. I have 4 colors that I alternate between. On my toes however, I am open to most anything. 💅

@@warrenpayne7649 many of the items that I sell are usually listed on chairish.com. They are a great consignment platform.
