Sako is a premium rifle maker. CVA Cascade is my choice as the features like cerakote picatinny rail and three lug bolt head and barrel twist advantage.
I wish the Sako 90 moved in the direction of a full / true controlled round feed action. Instead, went the opposite direction. The Sako 85 as I understood it just needing the pitch of the ejecting shells changed as to not bounce off scopes.
Great to hear that manufacturers are changing the twist rate for copper and similar bullets. I hope they have a 7mm-08 or 280AI type or similar with 1:7 twist ❤
No mention of the now cheaper, two piece bolt like the tikka, or the loss of semi controlled round feed or the loss of a fixed ejector which would drop the case in your hand or fling it across the room if you needed it. They seem to make insignificant changes with a large price increase.
You couldn't have said it better. They screw around with designs, way to much. Thankfully a basic Tikka doesn't have all these issues. Simplicity, is the key. Make one thing, and make it well.
Agree 100%. I love my Sako 85 Black Bear .30-06. I have an Aimpoint T-2 in a Henneberger mount on it. Couldn't ask for a finer rifle. And the price was somehwat reasonable. It looks like the price for the 90s is many hundred more than the 85s.
@10glocks40 I just wish the Basic Known MFG , would Quit Screwing around, Trying to reinvent the Wheel, and Just make a Decent Rifle. Remington 700, is an absolute Disaster, what they did to it. Tikkas are very good, fir those who can't afford a Sako Rifle.
Anyone know, can you get these barrels threaded in 5/8 x 24? As in, is there enough material there to provide an adequate shoulder after threading? If anyone knows the thickness of the barrel I’d be very grateful. I believe the min recommended for 9/16x24 is .662” and for 5/8x24 is .725. I just purchased a Finnlight 2 in 270 Win and would at least like to get a muzzle device on there if not a can.
Sake been good for many years ,and many more fine models to come . I hope a 995 in .338 Lapua turns up one day , they are Grail rifles for me . Civillian model of the peace maker worldwide .
Got 2 sakos 85 and s20 both very good guns never had any rust or pitting on any of them . A gun for life is right only reason I would swap is for a different cal .
My 85 finn II 30-06 is by far my favorite and superior to anything else I’ve shot long range. I love Howa, tikka, etc all the decent once are great and will work but man it’s just super high quality and you can tell the difference just holding it in your hands. Definitely some love went into these
Shut up and pay 😂 ... priceless. Great review thanks. For me, the gap I am filling is a solid hitting 300 yard hunting rifle for packing ... I'd love the varmint but I'll get a lightened synthetic stock ... its a hunting rifle. I have a 6.5 Tikka varmint for PRS. Sako and I have arrived at a sweet spot. Again great review thank you so much.
my sako 85 had terrible ejection problem , I dont agree with you that sako have dealt with that at all, they just made a new rifle, it took mee 2years to find a soulution for my rifle... but now it works, had to make a very special shell deflector, and rise the scope higher,
Sako, LOL "Updating" their rifles with a picatinny rail, and an adjustable trigger, that Savage did in the 90's and charging tomorrows prices. What a joke.
@internationalplayboy8685 Yah ok that is your opinion on Savage. It makes it even more sad that it's 2024, and Sako is just now adding on the features that the "trash" company Savage did in the 90s LOL. What is Sako charging for "trash" Savage 1990's technology?
@@internationalplayboy8685 Savage rifles are not trash, for the price they offer decent quality and very nice features, I never liked thei filmsy plastic stocks though, but when it comes to quality and consistency Tikka>Savage

They have updated the ejector to prevent the ejection issues some had on the 85.
pardon my possibly ignorant question, I dont see any particular difference between bolts, so what exactly you mean by two piece bolt like Tikka?

Interesting comparison with a BRILLIANT presentation, Let's have some more like this one please,.😉😉👍👍🏴🏴
Are the picatinny mounts removable or they are permanent on the rifle sako 90 ?
Will sako 90 rifles fit in Sako 85 stocks? for instance a GRS stock for a Sako 85?

Didn't mention the change to the action base nor lugs.

I couldn’t understand anything this Frenchman said.

Its not true, there are more updates than that. I count 7 just off the top of my head, could be more.
@norrinradd9206 Savage rifles are low budget trash used mostly by burger flippers and janitors.

@@norrinradd9206 even burger flippers deserve rifles, I understand. No one that takes pride in their rifles would ever own a savage shit stick.
