The Color Classic was the first Apple computer I owned. It got me through my senior year at Univeristy - but barely. I could not run Statistics applications 😞. The Summer after graduation the mother board failed for the second time and I asked Apple that instead of repairing it again I wanted to exercise the 'replacement' part of the warranty. The agreed and gave me a new LC475. Wish I still owned that work of art known as the Color Classic.
I guess you needed an FPU for the stats programs? Thanks for sharing that story! I went through something similar with the first Studio Display... took me 24 years to find another first gen...
Looking good. Glad the plastics seemed to be more forgiving on this one than on those Performas! I also totally dig the backrooms/liminal spaces vibe of your shooting area there. Lol
YES! The plastics were totally fine. Must've been the final year before things went downhill... And thank you! I get two steel tables and sometimes a chair. I only exist in Industrial Block C, Building 7, Room 14A. But don't tell anyone ;)
You have a real money pot there coming from that Color Classic but I know we both wouldn’t dare sell something as precious as that. Junior Mac Collector here. PS: you have to have an ADB keyboard plugged in to get a power on.

Thanks for the video. For me one of the most beautiful Macs ever, but it was never desirable from a performance perspective. So cute! 🤗 Regarding the audio (and maybe SCSI?) issue: I think Adrian Black once fixed a Mac audio issue by making sure the shielding was properly in contact with the motherboards ground plane, because the shielding is an integral part of the ground plane in some older Macintosh computers. Without proper contact with shielding, some parts of the PCB had no ground connection, i.e. don't work.
Agreed about the design & performance :) I watched Adrian's video a while back, so thankfully remembered the grounding issue. If the issue persists after a board swap, I'll double check the ground with a meter... but I reflowed those solder points and the contacts looked like they were touching the shielding... so there are a couple "lower hanging fruits" to tackle first
Nice machine…I actually just finished the dual speaker mod on my Mystic…freaking love the CC it’s my go to for most things vintage Mac. Oh yeah I got lucky and have a Performa 275 on its way to me right now. I can’t wait to clean and restore it and not Mod it.
Nice! Yeah, it's so compact, has a great little screen, and the plastic isn't too brittle.. lots to love! Congrats on the 275! Great machine to keep stock. I got a CCII in great condition for a reasonable price within North America.. but the shipping still messed it up. It was packaged OK, but not to a well thought-through level :( I *really* hope your seller packed it well!! Fingers crossed for you!

It's a combination... some of it was personally hoarded (I mean "preserved") by me since new, some was given to me by friends/family (who wants a dead old computer taking up space?), and a lot came from Facebook Marketplace where prices can be more reasonable than eBay

Yes, the Color Classic can only be turned on via soft power-on! I have the cable routed down below the table surface for a clean shot :)
