It's nice that you added the info about cost and time at the end. People, myself included, often underestimate the effort that goes into these restaurations. Great work!
I was the one who suggested this a couple videos back and you replied saying you'd try it out and I'm happy to see it! Honestly the materials cost all in was less than I expected. And it makes me appreciate your content even more knowing it took 3 weeks for us to enjoy 15 minutes of viewing. Thanks for another fun project, excited as always to see what's on your table next!
I saw your poll early today, don't forget there are about 91K of us who think this content is great. Don't be discouraged, this was a great item and interesting video, particularly the electronics. Great stuff!
You see the thumbnail for these videos pop up and you don't think it's worth much to watch it... and then you watch it.. and you can't stop... and the zen overwhelms you.. and it's awesome. :)
What a great restoration you are very talented and you amazed me with all the electrical elements you had tou sort out and the pieces you made . Well done
Thank you for doing what YOU like to do. If you do what you're passionate about, we will follow. Don't ever do things just because others tell you to do them.
Wow, nice job! Thanks also for posting the cost/time at the end. I like the way you put a video together, showing us enough but not every. single. rivet. Perfectly edited.
12:05 Dont tin the wire and then crimp it. You get better and longer lasting connection without the soldering tin. The tinning just makes it more brittle and likely to break.
Reminds me of when I was a kid. My dad is an engineer, and would build little circuit boards with various LED light patterns as stress relief. He powered them with AA and AAA batteries that were dead, but had just enough left to power those lights for weeks. I knew exactly what LEDs were before they became mainstream. The rivets and spot welding brings me back metal shop projects in high school.
I want more videos please!!!! I have watched them all and there are not a lot of them. Please please please! You’re my favorite of all the restoration videos and you are so talented, and can make almost ANYTHING from scratch! Instead of other people who buy all the new parts…
Nice vid and a perfect restoration. BUT... The green-yellow ground connection is a very bad joke. Soldering on paint can't work and soldering on steel is difficult. Just crimp an connector on the cable an fix it with a screw. 😊 Greetings
my favorite channel about restoration. always amazing results. the main thing is often interesting and extraordinary things to restore. thanks for your work
Good job on the restoration! Interesting to see how everything was put together. It wasn’t a lot to “restore” as far as metal work really. Most of it looked in good shape. Maybe another upgrade could have been “always on” / rotating light switch? Could allow you to use it as a decor light that is always on. Maybe even colored lights, but the customer could choose to change them out. :) Good job!
at my work, we make and have circuit boards, so we have to make sure we wear ESD smocks and shoes/straps so we reduce the chances of static discharge.. then you got this guy, putting a circuit board together ON STYROFOAM, one of the most static-y things around😢
Thoughtful and innovative melding of old and new technologies, and original and repro parts. Better than when new, and the heart of the old is still there. sometimes it's neat to lave a patch with original paint and patina.
You did a very good job! Regarding such a thing is quite easy to rebuild exactly this way, i have to say i value the patina over the finished look this time.
It's nice that you upgraded some components especially the built in electronics and bulbs with latest LED technology. I am interested to watch restoration videos, not only restoring the item but upgrading too to the current technology. Furthermore I also enjoyed watching recreating lost or damaged parts. I'm glad you included the 3D printing sessions in your video. Great job! Do the same thing to your future videos.
12:09 IIRC Soldering crimps is not a good idea, as the solder can slightly soften with age and heat resulting in more resistance and more heat til it melts awaay dropping connection or burns the connector off
You have the patience of a saint and his was clearly a passion project - great attention to detail, well done! Love the editing! (I’m waiting for the “T” , “N” and the “D”) 😊
This was a great restoration. The only thing that I would suggest doing differently is to make a recess for the fuse and speed switch so that this could sit or hang flat against a wall. Also that is a very sweet little spot welder you have. Now to print yourself some non conductive tongs to hold the piece you are welding.
I am surprised by how much it cost only because the restoration project looked so good I thought man this must sell for a lot so it's probably expensive to restore and I wasn't far off I guessed 300 bucks to restore maybe it's like a 500 dollar or more sign 🙂 very beautiful end result though, I am like I would love one of these but I am sure it's far out of my budget ha ha it's stunning :) I am working on building a solarium for my mom and my niece who love to garden and was thinking of making a cafe and all that and this sign would just be so cool to use.
Was this previously owned by the King of France? How is it possible this was listed for $80?? lol It seems overvalued at $8 in its original condition. Amazing restoration, as always. The inclusion of costs at the end is a real winner. Especially when you consider people might come back to watch this 50 years from now. :)
It's nice that you added the info about cost and time at the end. People, myself included, often underestimate the effort that goes into these restaurations. Great work!
Was just going to post this. So many times I watch restoration videos and wonder "How Long" & "How Much" . Thank you OTND!
Seconded!
I don't know if it was a good idea after all, seeing how shocked people are by the price of the object 😅
@@OldThingsNeverDie- highly appreciated by me as well! The "shock" is meant as compliments!
I was the one who suggested this a couple videos back and you replied saying you'd try it out and I'm happy to see it! Honestly the materials cost all in was less than I expected. Now all you need is the letters T.N.D. and you can mount it on your wall for everyone to see as they watch your videos.. nice work as always...
Yes!
This was my thought too :)
I thought about it too 🤣
Great idea!
I saw your poll early today, don't forget there are about 91K of us who think this content is great. Don't be discouraged, this was a great item and interesting video, particularly the electronics. Great stuff!
Not a typical thing you see being restored. Was very interesting to watch you bring it back to it's former glory. Great video 😎
Thank you Paul ! 👍
I suspect "to better than its former glory".
You see the thumbnail for these videos pop up and you don't think it's worth much to watch it... and then you watch it.. and you can't stop... and the zen overwhelms you.. and it's awesome. :)
Thank you al3k 😊
Enjoy your new addiction, boss
It was a nice touch to add those LEDs that look like vintage bulbs
You're so good at this! I love watching how precise you are and how you can bring what most would call junk, back to it's former glory.
I've never saw a spot welding machine but jeez it's efficient!
I love that you restored the old light sockets!
Awesome! Loved the sound when cutting all the little bits, and the switch turning the video off
What a great restoration you are very talented and you amazed me with all the electrical elements you had tou sort out and the pieces you made . Well done
Thank you for doing what YOU like to do. If you do what you're passionate about, we will follow. Don't ever do things just because others tell you to do them.

Thank you 😊
Very impressive refurbishing project. I was wondering what you could actually do with such a piece. Well seems quite a lot it looks... Thumbs Up
I love the result, AND the filming style. The rapid fire sounds are cool. You’re a master!
12:05 Dont tin the wire and then crimp it.
You get better and longer lasting connection without the soldering tin.
The tinning just makes it more brittle and likely to break.
Such a cool revision of the original!! I cannot believe you took the time to clean each light socket and case! Amazing. So cool. Thumbs up! 🙂

You paid 80 bucks for "that"? Lol! Thats what i call dedication. Turned out great, as always
The guy shoud have paid him $80 to take away that piece of smashed rust.
Nicely done. Saving a bit of history from the junkyard and giving it new life. 👍
Old and busted ➡️ new hotness. Always a joy to see your amazing work!
Really liked the little recap at the end! Continue comme ça!
Merci 😊
What a funky thing to buy and restore. Great job.
Me encanta como quedó!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excelente resultado 👏 👏👏👏👏!!!!!
I don’t care what it is you are restoring, I’m watching at least 5x.
The whimsical items are always my favorite. Thanks for the post.
I want more videos please!!!! I have watched them all and there are not a lot of them. Please please please! You’re my favorite of all the restoration videos and you are so talented, and can make almost ANYTHING from scratch! Instead of other people who buy all the new parts…
I thought there was no way to save so much of the original! That was amazing work!!
My daughter Olivia would love to have that in her room.
wow amazing transformation! I'm always so awed by your work! you have immense patience and are meticulously detailed
A joy to see this process as ever! such skill, patience and perfection!
This is by far the coolest restoration video I have seen.
Nice vid and a perfect restoration. BUT... The green-yellow ground connection is a very bad joke.
Soldering on paint can't work and soldering on steel is difficult. Just crimp an connector on the cable an fix it with a screw. 😊 Greetings

I like how you added the price to this video. I realize you can't always break it down perfectly, but Its gives perspective.
The music of the drill was fantastic! I smile through every one of your videos, only broken by a frequent surprised laugh at your humor.
Good job on the restoration! Interesting to see how everything was put together. It wasn’t a lot to “restore” as far as metal work really. Most of it looked in good shape.

Good job!
Omg I would’ve never imagined the cost of it. Great job!
The video I didn't know I needed today. Watching this brought me weirdly... a lot of joy 🎉❤ Thank you ✨️🙌
I love watching someone repair old things :)

Buen trabajo me gusta la sencillez de como haces los pasos para llegar al final de la restauración saludos desde Uruguay
Hello mister beautiful restoration beautifully restored good job well done
At first I thought: oh h*ll no!!!
Turns out to be one of the best yet!!!
Unbelievable!! 😀👍🏻
Why was that your first thought
Thoughtful and innovative melding of old and new technologies, and original and repro parts. Better than when new, and the heart of the old is still there. sometimes it's neat to lave a patch with original paint and patina.
I love your talent and what you do with it. Thank you so much, God bless you.
We restore kitchen appliances and gadgets in Japan . I take my hat off to you ignore the haters please.
Very niche, comment just for the algorithm to suggest your channel to new viewers.
And I appreciate the cost summary!
You did a very good job! Regarding such a thing is quite easy to rebuild exactly this way, i have to say i value the patina over the finished look this time.
Yay! I'm so glad you posted a new video! I was re-watching the old ones 🙈
oh sick i've never seen a spot welding machine before. that was cool

Missed opportunity to add a RickRoll at 4:08 🤣 (and also at 10:31)
Gorgeous restoration though, great work! 🔥
12:09 IIRC Soldering crimps is not a good idea, as the solder can slightly soften with age and heat resulting in more resistance and more heat til it melts awaay dropping connection or burns the connector off
Agreed! Also when crimping unsoldered wires - do not twist them as one strand can pinch another and create a weak point.
Welcome back. I've missed you.
Love the cost and time infos a the end! I always wonder about it when whatching restoration videos
As always, amazing work. That is an interesting piece to restore, love it! The quality and care you put into your work/craft is amazing!!!
Seems like your editing work is as on par with your restoration skills - a pleasure to watch and some neat editing work 👍
Beautifully done, loved every bit of it.
Lights turned off when you turned the switch on and vice versa 😂😂😂
Wow, turned out amazing, great job. Probably looks better than when it was made the first time, lol😊
That's a different thing to restore for sure! I loved the end result with the techno music! 😎
I love these videos. My son had shop in school. He disliked sandblasting.
Now you just need to get a T, N and D! Excellent work! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You are AWESOME. LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE VODEO
Ух ты здорово получилось. Спасибо, лайк.
Another great restoration.
You have the patience of a saint and his was clearly a passion project - great attention to detail, well done! Love the editing! (I’m waiting for the “T” , “N” and the “D”) 😊
That bench sized spot-welding machine - "I've gotta have me one of these !! 😄ps seriously though a lovely job utilising some excellent skills👍
хорошая работа, но объект не стоит таких затрат
I love your videos so much. You're very good at what you do! 😁

Man, what an amazing work! 😃
Really well done!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I love how not quite round this is.Makes it more authentic.
Amazing work 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
🙂 what a nice video. you could get other sockets, but you restored them
very well. respect for that and you have a new sub... greetings
Love your videos! So relaxing to watch! Please keep them coming!!
You did a really good job with that light letter 👍.
Amazing finishing, well done🎉
Well not something I'd ever thought I'd watch but here i am
Love your editing and use of sound , too !
Also, you should team up with the dude named "The Fisher" he magnet fishes and finds stuff out of waters! You two will make a good duo
It always fills me with joy to see a new video of yours ❤
Styrofoam circuit board assembly technique. All this time I was fumbling around like a caveman with boards. Kudos
Beyond repair; that's what I thought😮! A fascinating watch.
Nice work! Your editing makes it so enjoyable to watch 😁

That's awesome. Need to find more letters to make an amazing background for your pre and post reveals.
My goal is to watch all of your videos! old or new I watch them no matter what. Btw I'm subbed to you..
80 dollars? That would be very rare to find, otherwise I can't explain myself about the costs.
By the way, awesome restoration!!
Amazing job! It turned out great 👍 👌
Amazing job my friend congratulations 👏👏
Amazing Restoration 👍🏻👍🏽👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

Welcome back
Gotta love how extra you went for it. Not you just need the "LD THINGS NEVER DIE" letters for a full light display
Sick presentation at the end, love the beat.
I love that Marquee sign ❤❤❤❤
Nice job thumbs up! I thought you’d work on the panel to make it flatter. But the result looks great
Excellent!!! 👏👏👏 😎
@9:40 Honestly thought it was pretty cool to see you assemble the board, I've just started in on learning arduino so I took notes. :)
