As an X-Men fan who had to watch Marvel literally remove mutants from merchandise and go through stuff like M-Pox and the Inhumans push between 2014-17, this year especially feels like I've been validated. Punisher alone makes the a worth while physical to pick up. This is the only legal way to play it without spending $400 on a sega genesis cart. On top of this being the arcade port makes this a must have.
@Kensterrrrr You choose to come to a retro dedicated channel to antagonize someone about buying a game physically. I've seen your comments on the channel, and all you do is antagonize people for anodyne comments, and I am the one who needs to get a life ? Pure comedy🤡

I think the more of the reason was because they didn't included it the beat em up collection due to licensing issues so when it was resolved, they included here.
Glad Capcom is on such a hot streak these days. Many forget that the 2010s was a tough time to be a Capcom fan. Glad they turned things around and started taking fan expectations into account.
So glad capcom decided to have the digital version drop sooner than having the digital and physical version drop together definitely buying both games for my ps5 and switch and getting the physical version for my switch

Bro, I paid almost $200 for MVC2 on the Dreamcast a year and half ago, and you talk about buyer's remorse now 😂😂😭😭. Seriously though, I can't wait for Thursday to come so I can dive back into my childhood with this collection!
I'm in no way calling this a skill issue but if you find projectile spam annoying here... you would go crazy facing off against Athena in any of the early King of Fighters games. Which I would LOVE to see you cover as a series evolution eventually. SNK has done just as much for fighting games as Capcom has.
@@retrorebound8887 Ah see I'm pretty big into fighting games. These games (the 90s to mid 2000s) are well known for spamming with zoners. That was more what I was getting at. Either way always love the content man! Garou: Mark of The Wolves is one you may want to look into next year because we're finally getting a sequel after 25 years with Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves.
I laughed so hard at your comment about the voice actors. Cool fact, they actually used the voice actors from the original X-men/marvel cartoons from the 90’s. So the Wolverine you hear, is actually the Wolverine from the cartoons. Apparently when they recorded the original voices marvel was like, Nah we don’t like any of them. COTA was releasing very soon and they needed voices. Capcom approached the animated voice workers and they agreed to do the lines. Due to the limited time they had to get voices marvel would approve. They needed a sure fire way of getting a green light, so as they were pretty much already approved being in the animated series it was a no brainier.
I believe the sprites in MVC2 for old characters like Cyclops and Ryu are worse than they were before, because they were scaled differently. The older games generally had more detailed sprites.
Saw an ad for this and it caught my attention. I skip what I thought was 100% of ads but this game genuinely looked great. Might pick it up seeing that it got good scores
Yeah, it's literally Cal Dodd's voice for Wolverine. For those who don't know, Cal Dodd voiced Wolverine in the 90's X-Men cartoon, reprised the role in X-Men '97, and voiced Wolverine in all of the Capcom Marvel fighters up until Marvel vs Capcom 3 when current Wolverine voice actor Steve Blum took over.
Lol was a little baffled by that comment! As a kid in the arcades I was hyped to hear the 90s voice actors reprise there roles in a game. You just didn't get that much to often back then. "Berserker barrage" is ingrained into my brain.
Classic arcade fighting games were infamous for cheap input reading AI that would try to suck the quarters outta people, so don't feel bad about having your ass kicked by it!

I played this games when they were new and it was heaven because they were coming out when x-men the animated series was relevant. Its also from the sega era. As a kid i imported X-Men vs street fighter on saturn and the first game i got when i bought my Dreamcast was marvel vs Capcom
I love all the mvc games but stylistically I think MvC1 is my favorite for presentation. Something about it from the colors to the UI, even the combo counter. I’ve just always thought it looks really nice overall. Also zoning is always really strong in these but necessary for diversity of playing styles. Best advice I can think of (not that it was asked for anyway haha) is to get comfortable with movement in these games, ie super jumps/ air dashes etc..
