wow no. 7 in the world now. He has a really good package and very steady RPB and can push some good players from China. With better mental training and tactical resourcefulness he should be beating lower ranked players more efficiently and cutting that gap from the best Chinese..
It's interesting to see that, Wong Chun Ting's style is actually brand new. He does not use the same RPB as Wang Hao or Xu xin, the fingers on the bh is differently positioned, more curled, taking less space. His grip is basically a penhold BH oriented grip and he also made it to the national team very late. Maybe the same grip could be even more successful if harnessed from earlier age? Just a thought.
+FormostPanda Wong Chun Ting once said that when he was growing up in Hong Kong and started to play Table Tennis, he used only one side of the blade, as everyone else at this time, later he started using the backhand
Mmmm not quite. Wang Hao grip is the actual penhold bh oriented grip Liugouliang explained the different grips of penhold and he said wang has the more optimal grip. I'm not saying wong chun ting grip is wrong but rpb is not really all about making more space in the back. Yes wct has more space but his grip loses out on stability from the more extended fingers grip. But yes wct style is different plays both sides tensor like shakehand European players, it like hes trying to play a shakehand game with penhold
Imo, this also depends on your hands and fingers size. Maybe WCTs ones are capable for such a grip, but I can't imagine someone like Xu Xin holding the racket this way cuz his fingers are too long.
In order for him to attain greatness, the only way is to minimize errors and improve on consistency. His style of play has something in common with Kei Nishikori, IMHO. I really like his change of speed and variety of strokes.
Mizutani Jun TT Because he is a rather new face and probably one of the few penholders left for the future besides Xu Xin. Hence the name "modern", which is slightly wrong. It should be "modern day penholder"
I think a "modern penholder" refers to the reverse penhold backhand. The RPB was probably invented by Liu GuoLiang and turned into the default penhold backhand by Wang Hao. Wong Chung Ting seems to have turned a previous weakness into a real strength: he doesn't even avoid the RPB anymore, he cherishes it and almost converts himself into a backhand oriented penholder!!!

only WCT and Wang hao favor their rpb (and also maybe Xue Fei). Ma lin favors his forehand more than his backhand(which, half of the time, is tpb, andnot rpb). WCT and Wang Hao have a balance of backhand and forehand.
He is good.... but he lacks the kind of power from the likes of Ma Lin and Xu Xin. If he can work giving more power to his shots.... he will be better than where he is now.
so much potential in penhold. :D don't give it up
He's using the backhand like shakehanders do while having the advantages of penholders on forehand, impressive!

I thought his curled fingers were reminiscent of the penhold grip of the Koreans. I wonder if Wong Chung Ting started using the old penhold style.

Great Video top 8!

As they say fluently delivered movement or strokes.
3:45 KENTA MATSUDAİRA reyizzzzzzz
After Wang Hao i saw first penhold grip player who hits backhand topspin smoothly...
check out Xue Fei
Top 8 TT i love your vídeos!! Could you make a video of Marcos Freitas?
Thank you for watching Miguel Xavier. I will do video about Marcos Freitas probably at the start of the next year.
If I were to compare his RPB to Wang Hao.. I think Wang Hao also has blocking which is very effective too..
vaya reves paralelo q tiene el colega y las piernas
I find Wong's style very similar to that of Wang Hao, but I like Ma lin's style more.
Traditional and modern together, perfect . I like Ma Lin too
やっぱり中ペン両面ドライブマンは強いな

Can you do something on matsudaira in the old days
I probably will do video about Kenta Matsudaira serve and blocking, thanks for idea.
respect
Who is the current best penhold player?
Xu xin. Can you believe hes no. 1 in the world now!!!!!! Check it out.
how is he using his backhand side
what makes he be a "modern" penholder? that's not a criticism, just a question
Mizutani Jun TT Because he is a rather new face and probably one of the few penholders left for the future besides Xu Xin. Hence the name "modern", which is slightly wrong. It should be "modern day penholder"
Lawrence Monsieur hmm, understood, thank you!
Gustavo Castro ok, thank you

Please do Vladimir Samsonov!!
i think he is 2nd strong rpb player(1st wang hao)
I think he is 3rd, what about Ma Lin
MophisGames Ma lin use rpb only loop (sometime flick)

Wang Zeng Yi have good RPB
He is good.... but he lacks the kind of power from the likes of Ma Lin and Xu Xin. If he can work giving more power to his shots.... he will be better than where he is now.
Very good RPB, but, like Wang Hao, he is like a shakehander playing with the penhold grip. His forehand is weak compared to other top players.
His forehand looks pretty darn good to me...!
"You Wong Chun Ting?"
"Excuse me?"
"What do you Wong?"
Lmao😂😂😂
各方面的实力和当年的王皓还是有很大差距,尤其是正手
步伐比王皓好,能跑
what he lacks is power!!!
So a modern penholder has 3 different types to hits the boy. Very unfair haha
класс за игру заходи в гости на канал мой поддержи лайк+++
I thought that Wang Hao had a great backhand but Wong's might be better still.
what? Wong is good and can still improve but Wang Hao is in different league in terms of RPB
なんか微妙だなーって思うのはあれだ、体幹の使い方が硬いんだわ。
STYLE WANG HAO NOT WONG CHUN TING ... WANG HAO ... WANG HAO ... WANG HAO ... NOT WONG CHUN TING !!!!
