#2 Was definitely a problem for me, and I ended up getting discouraged and "quitting" Now with a better head on my shoulders I'm starting all over ... it's a lot more fun when you doing things with the right mindframe and for the right reason.
Very inspiring and insightful. I'm totally new to this and very receptive to knowing what I'm getting myself into. Thank you. I'm learning, and I wanna learn. I'm not doing this for quick gain but for the love of music. I like change and adapt to what's changing in the world and music.
I needed this. I really want to thank you for putting this video out and I appreciate all the info you give your viewers. I’m 31 years old and started out with fl10 demo when I was 21. I got married when I was 25 and fell off. After being divorced, I stumbled across Bolo’s channel and he motivated me to do what I love. I have a lot of unfinished beats to finish, so gotta get to that now!
I only do it for the love of the music. I have always been curious about the intricacies and so forth but never exactly set things in motion to try and "make it". For those that do I wish you success. I support you . I love the music with everything in me. I feel like if you make it we all win. Good luck guys! Thanks Bolo
Not a lot of real musicians now. Mainly technology and pushing buttons. I’m not putting the tech stuff down just saying it’s not playing music as much as pushing buttons on already recorded music
1. Adapt to change! 2. Learn the business side by reading books, listening to entertainment lawyers for contracts, listen to the OG's, & ask questions to have a successful business. 3. Don't be hard-headed! Be open to hearing other's mistakes so you don't make the same. Thanks for the 💎's Bolo, you a legend.
Straight facts bro. That's why I've been trying to link up with you. so i can learn the game. I don't want to jump in head first. and make a lot of mistakes. You seem trustworthy. so that's why i chose to see if we could link up. If i have to pay for some of your time. we will figure something out. Great video bro.
@bolodaproducer I agree with you 100% with what you're saying. Adapting to evolving changes and learning the business side of music is a must...............That's why I try to seek advice or knowledge from you guys that all ready traveled down that path.....
Great video, I have also been through it all like yourself. The key points that I advise people on is to be humble, creative, adaptable and get on with fellow creatives rather than putting on a fake front.
What I've learned from this video is this: We have a tendency to get in our own way; and by not taking time to learn and to do what we should, we hurt ourselves even worse, especially in the long term. Thank you for this video.🙏🏽💜
Much respect to you bro. This why I follow you so much. You speak the truth. And you def need to do a TH-cam live of what to know about the music business. And do a Q&A! Alot of us would really tune in and gain alot from you experience and knowledge. Fucc all them hardheads. You gotta plenty of followers who are ready and willing to absorb all the information your putting out. Just know your not wasting your time!! Props from Baltimore bro!! I can't wait to start releasing some of my own content here soon. I have a little bit of equipment and software. Just learning everything before I dive in head first lol. But your definitely an inspiration and a cool ass dude to follow and help with guidance through some of this unknown territory.
I produce when I can, but only for fun. I’ve being doing this for a few years and I’ve earned about $7 on Distrokid ha! This video has definitely given me confidence to make music that sells, whether it be my next (2nd) release or something I do in the future. Thanks for sharing! Defo gonna share this video on my SM groups. ✌️
That's exactly why I subscribe to your channel and I watch your TH-cam's all the time because you tell it like it is and you want to see people grow in the industry!
It took me 2 years to learn how to change my product and actually raise the value with the change. Took me 8 to learn something about the business involved in the industry. I’ve also done nothing yet and I’m just now beginning these some of these journeys
I agree 100% you can never know too much always more to learn. Adaptability. Open minded about everything. Do you think having the connects help too like I know what you know is important for your own self personally but what about who you know?
“Well Bolo, I’ve been doing this for,…NAW MAN! “ 😂😂😂 I love the TRUTH you’re telling! Keep teaching and preaching Bolo! We all need your in sight and appreciate you 💯 for it too man. All your reviews, knowledge of the business and your opinions are valuable! And that’s whether people agree or not, hey, take it for what’s it worth in my opinion. Thanks man for always being straight with us. 👍🏽
All facts... I'm just now really getting focus with this... had a couple of distraction substance abuse.. homelessness..... County.... I joined a pro... I'm with distrokid... Next up is the website... do you feel like producer can survive if he doesn't make trap style Beats @bolo da producer
15 years making beats on FL strictly for the love of it, but I can now see the fruits of my labor!! Also just added the mpc key 37 to my arsenal. Be open to learn something new, no matter your age!
Good information. I'm a hobbyist and plan to keep it there but it still nice to understand how the industry works. It gives insight to what artists and producers have to do to make it in the environment. I don't think I'm smarter than someone doing the work. You don't come to my job and tell me how to design and manufacture hardware so I come here humble and looking to learn your craft.
Pure facts right here! Not gonna lie, I had very hard time adapting to change since the early 2000. One of things I’ve always tried to do is stay true to myself and create from the heart. The only problem is that I would refuse to adapt to change, which in a way makes me hardheaded. Anyhow, will take the advice from this video and keep pushing forward. Thanks Bolo and keep up the great work!👍🏾
I can throw beats all over social media every day, but there are so many talented people, that its easy to get drowned out and discouraged. If you were to bless us with that knowledge, I'd create new YT accounts just so I could give you more than 1 thumbs up! Most producers/beat makers stay bedroom musicians because we don't have anyone to guide us. Someone that's actually walked the walk. Great video!
Indeed Im taking time to learn uk/ny drill between jobs Made my first one start to finish nailed the concept...now the sound design, time ,determination and focus is where it makes or break up.
I just want to say I am one of those who make music strictly out of love for music, its an outlet a stress reliever ... ppl around me say I should take it more serious and pursue it because I am prob sittin on some classic records that would be hits and I dont even llook at it like that. I make music for me, thats subject matter is always real..... I make it from my heart and soul. Real talk .... Keep pushing foward everyone, some of Us will and some of Us won't. 💯 peace
I agree with all of it I know I am still a nobody but gotta learn something every day thru experience and also thru research. so yeah just keep going and keep learning stuff this is what I learn from the video
I feel like being hard-headed and arrogant is just a cover for insecurity and impatience. This is the summed up explanation of what I've heard from many interviews of major artists like Eminem, Taylor swift, Dr Dre, ect. A lot of us want people to see us for who we want to be before we do what it takes to become that idolized version of ourselves. Developing the self-control to keep those feelings in check may be the hardest part about growing as an artist. If we don't develop that part of ourselves first, then we won't be able to accurately perceive our true level of skill. So instead we'll keep convincing ourselves that we're already at a higher level than we actually are because we want the reward but at the same time don't feel like doing to extra work that it requires. The less we know about this industry, the more we take for granted that we understand what it takes to make it. But the truth is, nothing in this life comes easy. For 99.9% of us, it's going to require much more work than we would ever wish it would. Lower your expectations or else your ego will get crushed. Especially if you want to become a successful artist. Making it in the music business requires an obsessive passion that almost always leads to burnout. Like a drug that you want to quit but can't even though you're so tired of doing it. Basically OCD. You make a song and keep listening to it over and over until it's the last thing you want to hear, and then you listen to it some more and keep tweaking it to the point where all of the flaws are worked out. It's the most powerful love/hate relationship you will ever have. The highs are just as intense as the lows. Most people will jump on this Rollercoaster and then bail before the rides over. Everyone thinks they can handle it but then the ride starts and sooner than later, they'll want to get off.
It’s a lot of “industry experts” on social media with nothing to show for it & you can always tell. They have a lot of hard & fast rules about music and the music business but none of the results. When it comes to things like this you have to go to people who have actually done what you’re trying to do. I needed this video bc I have been feeling discouraged lately with the music but I am trying to push thru.
Straight to the point !!! Wow Bolo - Thar’s , Real talk , Real Business … if you can’t hear this today People , you’ll hear it later but it may be too late ..
All big facts bro!! I can tell that information came from a good place(heart)✊🏾... I'll definitely be asking some questions while I'm on my grind, lol. We appreciate the knowledge that u dont have to give us!!💯🙏🏾
Bro 3 yrs into making beats. Learning the software a beginner. My beats I feel are getting to a point where you can do something with em I got a friend of mine who raps. And he came threw yesterday to record. This was my first time recording someone else. Not to mention he has been recording with a producer who has more knowledge. I was not prepared it’s another ball game recording vocals(in fl studio)smh. Yeah I got along way to go. But I didn’t charge him or nothing. It was a learning experience for me. And a chance for him to catch a vibe. It’s not as easy as it looks. You have hit records. I salute ya bro. It is not as easy as it looks. But I do enjoy making music. And I’m going to continue to do it. Thanks for the info…
I can agree that I have no proper knowledge in the game am but still learning, my fear is ending up making a lot of wrong mistakes so I will highly appreciate if you gave me advices or any book suggestions on how I can build my self as well as my team, am just a young producer who’s sacrificing a lot for the industry in Africa.
You didn't say anything wrong....you can take that advice and apply it to any "industry". Even some of us ol' heads need to be reminded of this. I've been training athletes for over twenty years, I've had to reinvent myself in the "game" at least three times. Recently decided to get back in the music industry, to be a producer. Although I had a short run in the music business years...years...years ago, lol...I had to approach it like I didn't know, because it has changed so much. Keep putting out the TRUTH on what it takes. I personally appreciate it.
Producers need to learn how to adapt and be prepared for all opportunities. I just produce music as a hobby, I’m not trying to get rich overnight, If it happens great, but if it doesn’t, I wouldn’t be disappointed, because there’s so much undiscovered talent out there that don’t know the first thing about the music industry and some seasoned producers will steal their ideas and get rich in the process .I know for a fact that the music industry is a cut throat business and whoever can survive it, I have much respect.
Great job Bolo. It's hard-working with some Musicians Egos. I have made money through the years, writing many songs for artists not on the charts and trying to develop others while in the Church Choirs. It's hard to TRUST PEOPLE. The enjoyment and satisfaction of playing for the Lord is GREAT. Sure I could write a lot of HITS WITH YOU I AM SURE OF THAT. Check it out, BLACK ON BLACK MUSIC CRIMES. DAMN !!! Who do I TRUST, YOU? I'm just sayn.
I agree with you whole hearted, I have a lot to learn. But I understand the process is key to everything, and I've learned to enjoy it.. thanks for being real 💯🚀
Thank you Bolo! You're one of my favorites! I've learned a lot from your Channel. I went to school with a bunch of arrogant men, not that women can't be arrogant too. But it was very hard being a female and with men who knew no more than I did but fronted like they did. I ate a lot of humble pie. Your encouragement has helped me to finally put out my first release. Keep doing what you're doing!
I appreciate it, I might be a little bit older than you, but you are my go to guy I always listen to what you have to say , and apply to what I'm trying to do in this music game good looking out.
Real Talk bro! I've been doing music for a long time as well and I'm still learning. I feel that I still have a long way to go. I'm always anxious to learn more with this music. Great video man. Keep doing your thang bro and many blessings to you and your family.
Bolo real talk keep speaking your mind also some producers think things going to come to them you have to put in work connect with the right people and I tell young and older producers STOP DOING THINGS FOR FREE.
I definitely agree, well said. Producers should stay humble, its always something to learn no matter how long you been making music. We all students in this business
Haha 👌 it does taste better coming outa of the oven, learning is key in every business but your could not be more correct about the adapting and constant change in music. I'm excited to learn and thank you for sharing the wealth of information with us bolo
Bolo nothing but the truth ...💯...a sponge with no water will dry out over time....you absorbed all the knowledge over time to not dry out...thank you for sharing this truthful knowledge with us...💯👍
Appreciate the wise words I definitely need to soak up knowledge I got bits of pieces here and there but in all reality I am always ready to learn in life learning is a never ending process not just in music but in life.
What up Bolo?! I really like this video. Being an amateur producer and watching this really makes sense! I literally took notes on all three points you mentioned in this video. Thanks for taking time out your busy schedule to drop gems! Much appreciated. Stay blessed!
I agree I've been doing beats since 1986 ' from Kansas City live in Atlanta over 5 songs have been taken I depended on people cause I could of done things different change is important intergrating into computer is the battle of change im working with , we need people to listen to taking time is good not the quick way, 86 when i started and I dont know it all learning always I AGREE with you . I had more songs stolen by major producers, I almost quit I didnt do the court thing cause I thought it would harm me in the long run i know what was stolen came up 40 million dollars, i still keep going thanks for in put blessings.
appreciate the advice, i currently just produce my own music but want to get into producing for other artists too so your channel is super inspiring and helpful in giving ways to think about and navigate the industry. x
I really need the knowledge can you teach me. I been using different type of DAWs since 2009. I don't want to say I am professional. But I must say Ive been in the learning curve for a minute and now I ready to unleash and learn the business side more.
I'm 30+ years in and these youngin’s need to hear this tough love from a veteran 💯🥃

Even though I’m still a beginner I continue to soak this man’s knowledge like a sponge.
The authenticity of this guy is organic. Thanks for ALWAYS keeeping it real

You're 100%right Bolo. That use to be my problem back in the days. But then I learned to move my pride out the way. Things worked out for the better.

What up Bolo?! I really like this video. Being an amateur producer and watching this really makes sense! I literally took notes on all three points you mentioned in this video. Thanks for taking time out your busy schedule to drop gems! Much appreciated. Stay blessed!
I agree I've been doing beats since 1986 ' from Kansas City live in Atlanta over 5 songs have been taken I depended on people
cause I could of done things different change is important intergrating into computer is the battle of change im working with , we need people to listen to taking time is good
not the quick way, 86 when i started and I dont know it all learning always I AGREE with you . I had more songs stolen by major producers, I almost quit I didnt
do the court thing cause I thought it would harm me in the long run i know what was stolen came up 40 million dollars, i still keep going thanks for in put blessings.
