    Enjoy a clean work area with our customizable dust shoe project. This dust shoe is designed to be a high performing and inexpensive option for CNC routing machines that use routers or CNC spindles - such as our line of ready-to-assemble Benchtop and large-format CNC machines.
    Be sure to also check out our Benchtop Standard Machine -- www.avidcnc.com...
    The version shown here is 90mm and suitable for the following routers; Bosch 1617, Dewalt DW618, and Porter Cable 690 or 892.
    The design parameters such as SpindleDiameter and HoseDiameter are easily changed in the Fusion 360 project, or pick from one of our many pre-configured STL files.
    Let us know if you have any questions!

    Hi - trying to customize this and Fusion360 is giving me an error when I try to resize the hose diameter: "Top Frame/Compute Failed/Failed to Solve. Please try revising dimensions or constraints/Coincident" -- And when I try to change the spindle size to match my DeWalt DWP611 (69.07mm), the slots in the fingers are all messed up (they don't cut all the way through the fingers, and below the area where they should be cut out, they suddenly protrude into the opening. I'm guessing a F360 update broke this project? I've tried the 1.8 and 1.5 versions, on both Mac and Windows, F360 v2.0.4391 -- any ideas?

    Can someone explain what's going on at 00:59 please? Where does that dialogue box come from? It looks custom. Is that part of the perimetric modeling in Fusion? TIA

    Great design but being new to CNC in general and Fusion 360 specifically when I download your files and load into Fusion I see that in the CAM module the 4 operations in the BrushFrame component show "No ToolPath" errors. I bet this is a simple fix and I will find the solution when I learn more of Fusions Cam functions but thought I would mention it here.

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Slipery 123, I've updated the Fusion archive. A recent fusion update appears to have affected the association of a couple key entities between the model and CAM data. I fixed and posted the updated version (v1.5). Try that. We'll probably have to start hosting this as a live Fusion project so this doesn't happen in the future. Thanks for letting us know! -Nathan

    Just about to cut this out soon but wondering if it will work with my 2 1/2” flattening bit? Or will it get caught in the brush strip? Cheers!

    Nathan thanks for making this video. However after downloading and saving , when I load into mach3 the model of the work piece is way off and I cannot seem to place it on center of my work area. As I try to regen the tool path it sets up way off to the right side of my table and too close for comfort.

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mickey - No problem. The design itself wont (alone) determine where the work will be done on your machine. Depending on your work-holding and the material you'll want to zero the machine in the front left corner of your workpiece. After zero'ing (or setting the G54 values directly in the offsets tab) you jog the machine to ensure the machining will occur within the limits of your machine and the workpiece.

      cncrouterparts thanks I understand that, however I ran code on some foam and noticed the boot size too big for the suggested 11 inch length.
      I know need to resize in fusion in order to fit on work piece.I do remember measuring on fusion and was within the 11 inch. My mock foam measured at 12 1/4 "

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mickey, I see. Thank you for clarifying that. If it's a bit tight you might try changing HoseOffset from 5.5" to 5" in Modify>Change Parameters. That should give you 1/2" more room. Great idea to try it on foam first! Let me know if that helps. -Nathan

    I ran into a problem when changing the magnet diameter from 1/2" to 18mm. Everything adjusted as it should, but the insert diameter in the bottom section also increases to 18mm (in the model only). Checking the sketch for that part, M8InsertDiameter is still 1/2", but when you close the sketch, the model shows it as 18mm. I couldn't find anything in the parameters that would cause that, so maybe it's a problem with F360. Any idea what's going on there?

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi HighDesertVideo - I see the same. Looks like a designer error. The entity selection logic for the lower frame extrude didn't properly take into account situations where the magnet is larger than the insert diameter. We uploaded a v1.4 to the project, give that a try and it should work better for you. Please send us pictures, I'm interested to hear how larger 18mm magnets like that look/work! -Nathan

    Great video, Fusion 360 rocks! One thing though is that this design is flawed with routers that vent downwards - it blows chips everywhere before suction kicks in....or at very least resuces efficiency. Do you have a design with a diffuser? I built one and it make a huge difference.

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Marc! Good suggestion. We haven't used a diffuser on our in-house shoes and while I know of several forks/customizations of this shoe, none with a diffuser that I'm aware of. Regardless of venting, all router/spindles will produce turbulent air vortices (tool and collet nut flats are contributors as well). As long as the brush is in contact with the material it should do a good job of dealing with the kenetic energy of the chips so that the vacuum can take them up. We tend to make several different frames for each machine (1.5", 3", and 4" brush material being typical) so that the right one can be used for each program. -Nathan

      Here is my design for what its worth to suit a Dewalt 618....it will do until I get one of your super sharp spindles :) a360.co/2iKsdK5
      I produced it from 3/4 MDF, cut a slot in the top ring with some bolts to make a pinch ring to secure it to the router. Add a brush around the outside and it seems to work great. I'm able to get this type of design to work with a shopvac/dust deputy with 90% of bits picked up...the other design...maybe 80% of dust left behind.

    • @jeremymcgrath3301
      @jeremymcgrath3301 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And I agree all will produce some turbulence....this reduces it a lot though...

    • @AvidCNC
      @AvidCNC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice - Looks good! You might try a dedicated dust collector if the opportunity arrises - even the 1HP models will move a good volume of air. -Nathan

    Hi cncrouterparts, im about to machine the above dust shoe but i have a few questions first.
    How can i make the spindle offset closer to the edge of the frame as im running a 56mm D spindle.
    And will it make any difference to the finished product if i use 20mm HDPE and not 25mm or 1inch like you have modled here??

  • @chadcushman5590

    Just curious, I've seen this model with both 79mm and 80mm for the CRP 2.2kw spindle mount, anyone try this yet with suggestions? Don't want to order more HDPE, trying to make this a one shot deal.

    I tried downloading the supposed Fusion 360 file, but it had a ".man" extension. I then uploaded that to Fusion however Fusion can not locate a ".man" extension file to open. What's the process in more detail please. How do you get this ".man" extension open in Fusion 360?

    I must be missing something on the download. The "Fusion 360 (Parametric) Design (.f3d) Archive" downloads as an ".man" I cant open it.
