I bought this one as a stunt double for my Tudor BB54 eg. for running, chain sawing etc. happily surprised at the quality and the detail. The real thing is much more refined eg. bezel, crystal and bracelet but the lume is better on the WD. My WD bezel lines up. Thanks John for your great videos.
I have this exact watch.Lovely dimensions but it's a little drab imho.Really well put together ,great lume, crisp solid bezel.Watchdives are making some very nice watches
This is a sweetie. Decent price, good looks (I'm a sucker for a red pip on a diver) and I appreciate the lack of slab sides. If I didnt have the SM version sutomatic, I'd be tempted.
I've owned this watch for a couple months now, and for the most part, I love it. In fact, with this being my third watch that uses the VH31 movement, I am a true fan of it. Not only can it allow the watch to be thinner (as is the case here), it's also cheaper, more reliable, less trouble and... lighter!. So I'm going to propose a 'business plan' for other brands; give us higher quality, more feature-laden watches designed around the VH31. I truly believe if they offered these, we will buy! Thanks for the review, really enjoyed it (your accent is very calming to my Texan brain, lol)
I went with the red triangle version. Smoothed out the sharp edges of the bracelet and case - it’s now my grab n go top dog! Accurate, comfortable, reliable - it’s absolutely amazing as far as I’m concerned!
@@johnswatchjoint Maybe so, John. I read the same (about the bracelet sharp spots) from another commenter as well. No worries though, this watch is a real cracker - I like it as well (or better) than some of my pieces costing 8-10 times as much! Always enjoy your content, your review was bang on👌
@@johnswatchjoint Perhaps so, John. I do think I have one of the earlier batches - read where another commenter was saying the same. Such a cracking little watch, like it as much as any in the collection, no matter the cost. Spot-on review - always enjoy your content!👌
I have two watches with the vh31 movement and I absolutely love them. I would like to see one day a movement that is like the vh31 but with a date complication. For the time being though it's a great movement and the watch reviewed is a beautiful watch and I love your honest watch reviews.
Looks a decent watch. I have a Newmark with a similar movt and it works well, although does go through batteries a bit more quickly than a standard quartz. I also have an old Pulsar quartz diver, albeit not in such good condition as your beauty. I often look at as a reminder of a time when good engineering and QC was not the preserve of the wealthier watch buyer.
Hi John, great review as always, I've been leaning more into quartz recently the latest being a Vaer quartz, I also bought a Seiko for the first time in ages the SUR517P1 big date and have to say the seconds hand hits bang on the markers, so it can still be done, I would just like to see more that do this, I think I still prefer one tick per second.
Good review 👍. I like the fact you have upset a couple of manufacturers with your reviews, but don't stoop to naming and shaming them. Great video of Molly 😁
Hey John, great to have you and Molly back! Grab n Go has way further to go! Watchdives is leading the way and Addiesdive cleverly recyled the Ronda 515 quartz GMT into several new release GS style GMTs. The best is yet to come! Will you review the WD1862 "Speedy V2", too?
This is a good take on the homage John it allows people who prefer quartz only problem might be if you want to change battery yourself as it’s got the screw down back and I don’t trust the sticky ball to get it tight enough which means buying yet another watch gadget! Great specs on it though
No worries...another way of doing it in the cooler months is to sit the watch face down on a towel on a warm radiator for a few mins for the same result.
Nice review John. I like that they do the right thing with the movement. I have to say that my Casio "Bill Gates" hits all the second markers, but I can't say the same for my modern Seikos tho 😅
I have this exact one and it was my first Chinese brand purchase. I think it is a dream for the price. I’d much rather have a super accurate VH31 with its sweep over a low beat auto, the lume is amazing and I really like the green contrast, the matching dial and bezel gilt and brushed instead of polished case sides are so much more attractive than the genuine BB54, as are the overall dimensions. I am not a huge fan of the bracelet, I can’t complain for the price, but it is sharp in places and the clasp feels cheap. I am curious if the SN0148 BB54 bracelet is compatible… highly recommend nonetheless.
Great watch and great video. I have too many (six or so?) BB homages so I likely won't get one of these but I do have a couple of their mecaquartz watches. I wear their 'Ranger' pretty regularly though it wears a bit small. If I didn't have any watches and specifically wanted to get a battery-powered homage as a daily watch, this would be way at the top of my list. (Wearing my Cronos coffee dial BB54 today.)
Have you had a chance to compare it to the watch dives WD1969 pro? I realize the case size is different, but other than that how do they compare in terms of quality, fit, bracelet, etc.?
No I have not compared them yet as I have so much on but in terms of the bracelet finishing and clasp as well as quick release, the WD1969 Pro is my preference from handling them, though the other watch was very good.
It’s funny how suddenly everyone is on love with the VH31, 1-2 years ago no one wanted a quartz watch… For me it’s just unfortunate, that there is no date version of the VH31 … I have to many watches without a date already. Btw, that Pulsar is lovely!
This is sitting in my basket. An affordable hommage with good dimensions and specs. My only gripe is why it needs to be 11.5mm thick given its quartz movement.
Hi Ben. I have a lot of watches in at the moment but I always have a look for something new. We'll see how my schedule is but I have a lot of catching up to do buddy 😉
I ordered this with the red alum bezel 2 days ago in the back to school sale. Caught my eye. Thanks for the review as they are a few ones and one of them was very irritared because he wanted san martin quality 😂 Cost me 80 dlls with all discounts!! Cheers John
Well done that man. Great price! Unfortunately a lot of watches came in while I was on holiday and there is no way I could get them reviewed fully for the sale...this my initial comeback video with some of those watches in it 😊
This was significantly cheaper on Ali a couple of days ago, during the sale. Might be worth putting it in your basket and waiting for the next sale if you are a bargain hunter.
Unfortunately, I was on hols when some watches arrived but the review is valid for whenever you want to buy in the future. The links will still hold :)

Vaer are nice watches but expensive from the States here in the UK... BUT they are terrible for not hitting the markers. I have owned two.
This watch is very good. Only thing it needs is a different dial. The matt black makes the crystal look dull.
Interesting video and find. Thanks.
Awesome. Should have a on-the-fly adjustable clasp though
Are they using the same factory as San Martin? It looks almost the same.
They are using a new factory and have definitely benefitted from the SM collaboration but I have no insider info on such things 🙂

I couldn’t live with the mis alignment, so IMO it’s a risk getting one… good review thanks John
Hi Jez. Even leaving the watch on a window ledge in hot sun will warm the dial up enough for you to move the insert. Simple 😊

Hi again John, what do you think of the VH31 movement? Not had any experience of them personally. Hope your daughter’s feeling better soon 👍
Hi Micheal. They are as reliable as reliable gets. No issues. The only caveat is that they are battery hungry. 2 year battery life rather than 3.
@ Maybe It’s better to hack the movement when not using it. Might get some more juice out of it?
does this watch wear larger than the tandorio 37mm (skx)? i got the tandorio, and I'm now looking for a second homage diver watch.
It wears flatter but wider if you get what I mean 🤗
@johnswatchjoint Yes, i get it. I'm looking for a 38mm diameter watch. It's my sweet spot for my 6.75 wrist.
Txs. Congrats on 1.5M views.
Thank you 😊
I’ll tell ya - it looks nothing like a $100 watch. It looks just like a Tudor
Hi John would you say it wears bigger than the 37mm diameter suggests? Only asking as I saw a random review claiming it wears more like a 39mm 👀
It does wear bigger. But not as big as a 39mm. 🤨
They should provide the option of a better bracelet for a bit more and then it’d be a no brained to grab it
They are listening and improving all the time as you will see in my next review...

Is this watch suitable for diving
It should certainly be ok for a dip in the pool but if you are talking about skindiving then you are better with an ISO rated watch
