Abbey of the Dormition, Mount Zion Jerusalem
The legend holds that during Saint Helena's pilgrimage to the Holy Land between 326 and 328, she identified two spots on the Mount of Olives as being associated with Jesus' life - the place of His Ascension, and a grotto associated with His teaching of the Lord's Prayer - and that on her return to Rome she ordered the construction of two sanctuaries at these locations.
The monastic church- “the Dormition” is one of the most prominent churches in Jerusalem due to its size, beauty and location that overlooks the old city. The church was built on a plot which the German emperor Wilhelm the 2nd received from the Ottoman sultan during his visit to the Holy Land in 1898, and it was inaugurated in 1910. The emperor decided to establish here a large church that would demonstrate the strength of Germany, and the building does in fact give a feeling of a fortress.
The church stands out due to its round shape, unlike most of Jerusalem’s churches that are rectangular. The central building is round, as well as the wings and towers surrounding it. Also the cone-shaped dome has a form that is distinct from the other churches of Jerusalem. Another unique characteristic of the church is the integration of motifs from east and west- a massive neo-Romanesque building, which is similar to ancient cathedrals in Europe, combined with white and red stones that characterize the Mameluke architecture. The narrow alleys emphasize the vast dimensions of the church, which is 34 meters high- like a 12 story building. The church was established where, according to tradition, Miriam, mother of Jesus, fell to her death- sleep. The church’s name derives from this event- “The Dormition”, meaning “coma”.
The interior of the church is impressive, with a mosaic floor. The mosaic presents a Latin quotation of the Book of Psalms: “May the Lord bless you from Zion”- a verse referring to Mount Zion where the church stands. The mosaic also depicts the Ark of Noah that drifted on stormy waves. This is a common metaphor in Christianity, symbolizing the belief that only its followers will be saved from the Great Flood at the far distant future.
The church’s floor is covered by a large and round mosaic. The inner circle is comprised of three circles, with the Greek inscription “Agios”- meaning “saint” in Greek. The three circles symbolize the divinity, which sends tongues of fire to the four main prophets: Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel, who appear in the second circle. The Gospel is conveyed by them to the 12 prophets and four writers of the gospels, whose names are mentioned in the third circle and they are also depicted in the illustrations: the angle is Mathew, the eagle is John, the bull is Lucas and the lion is Mark. They were the ones who conveyed the Gospels to the whole world, which is symbolized by a zodiac.
The mosaic symbolizes the connection between, and the continuation from the bible- prophets to the apostles and four messengers of the Gospels. In the Apsis at the front of the church facing the east, stands the main altar of the church, with a magnificent mosaic presenting baby Jesus in the hands of his mother Miriam. Jesus holds an open book in which the following text is written in Greek: “I am the light of the world”. Below them stand the prophets who prophesized the coming of the Messiah, their heads surrounded by halos. The alcoves surrounding the hall are secondary altars which were donated by German Catholic communities.

I just visited Mary’s house in Ephuses in Turkey. I also took holy water from the spring. What can we believe? Was told she lived there for 7 years. John was with her.

No, She and St. John never lived in Turkey. They stayed in the Gethsemane house (which is a property belonged to Lazarus) until Blessed Mother was assumed into Heaven (details can be found in Maria Valtorta's Poem of Man-God, Vol. 5).

The disciple John was given charge over Mary by Jesus while he hung on the cross. It was his dying request.
Of course she would be wherever John thought she would be safe. That would be possibility be with him or somewhere he would put her. We don't know but the trail to Mary starts with John.
Mary didn’t die. She was brought up into heaven to be with God when her time came.

I fully understand Mary's prominence in Jesus' time, but I do not understand the Catholic's continually praying to "Mother" Mary. It is Jesus who we pray to.

The problem is that apart from Mary being mentioned in a couple of the Gospels, we know nothing about her and certainly nothing about where she lived and died.

Blessed Mother was assumed into heaven.The Church does not declare whether Mary died and then was assumed into heaven or whether she was assumed before she died. It leaves open both possibilities. However, the majority of theologians and saints throughout the centuries have affirmed that Mary did experience death-not as a penalty for sin but in conformity to her son, who willingly experienced death on our behalf. In support of this latter view, John Paul II said, “The Mother is not superior to the Son who underwent death, giving it a new meaning and changing it into a means of salvation.”
Third, the Catechism affirms that Mary was taken body and soul into heavenly glory right at the end of her earthly life. One of the consequences of original sin is the corruption of the body (see CCC, 400; Genesis 3:19). If Mary was full of grace and did not suffer from original sin, it is fitting that she, like her son, would not experience such bodily corruption.
Although there are no explicit proof texts in Scripture for Mary’s assumption, some biblical themes may at least shed light on this doctrine. For example, the notion of being taken up into heaven has some precedent in Scripture. Enoch was taken into heaven without seeing death (see Hebrews 11:5), and Elijah was whisked into heaven by the chariots of fire at the end of his life (see 2 Kings 2:11). If God could assume these righteous men of the Old Testament, it is certainly possible that Jesus could assume his own mother as well.
Even more, since the Bible presents Mary as the first Christian disciple, it is fitting that she would be the first to receive the blessings of following Christ. In the New Testament, Mary is presented as the first to hear God’s word and accept it at the annunciation (see Luke 1:38, 45). She responds to God’s word promptly by going in haste to help Elizabeth. She also describes herself as a servant of the Lord (see Luke 1:38, 48).
Mary remains faithful to her son, following him even to the cross (see John 19:25-27), where she experiences the fulfillment of Simeon’s prophecy at the Presentation: “A sword will pierce through your own soul also” (Luke 2:35).
She perseveres in faith throughout her life. She gathers with the apostles for prayer even after her son’s ascension (see Acts 1:14). Thus, the New Testament presents a clear portrait of Mary as the first and preeminent disciple of Christ, who hears the word of God and keeps it in her heart.
Since one of the blessings promised to all faithful disciples is victory over death, it is fitting that Mary, who is the first and model disciple of Christ, would be the first to receive this blessing. Catholics thus believe that the privilege of resurrection promised to all faithful Christians was given first to Mary and in a totally unique way.
While the rest of us hope to have our bodies raised to glory at the end of time, Mary experienced the resurrection and glorification of her body at the moment her earthly life ended. Thus, her assumption-which flows from her unique participation in Christ’s victory as the mother of the Savior and as the first and most faithful of Christ’s followers-anticipates to some degree our own share in the fullness of that victory if we persevere as followers of Christ.

That's the point. Their doctrine written by man whereas the new testament was written by the deciples with God inspiring and telling them what to write. The catholics ha e their own Bible which is so different from a Christian bible.
so that makes a whole series of miraculous events which had to be "created". Mary's own "Immaculate conception", then of course Jesus could not have had a normal birth, so that was an Immaculate Conception, too. Then they said why don't we spread the whole thing and say that Mary also had a non normal death. That closes out the whole event cycle.
