As a huge Bloc Party fan I really respect you making this video. As far as my thoughts on each album goes: Silent Alarm - indie rock perfection AWITC - a mature and beautiful sound that resonates more as I get older Intimacy - experimental and beautiful Four - pure fun Hymns - the weakest album but still melodic and serves a good purpose. I feel you on so many levels with your list but I'd say I'm a bit more forgiving. Keep up the good work. Always love hearing this kind of passion about such a great band!!!
Thank you. I admittedly was very harsh on many spots, yeah - but thats due to me just being really passionate about this band and knowing they're not fully tapping into their potential. To be fair, I can definitely also see some albums maybe grow more on me in the subsequent years. I absolutely despised Hymns upon first listen, and upon having to revisit it for this video there were tracks that were resonating, even if there weren't a lot of them.
@@remic.7947 dude, i totally get it. Those first two albums though changed me forever. When I heard Banquet for the first time, it single handedly got me into music. I'd never heard anything like it before. Since then I discovered more and more of them and completely fell in love. AWITC was the first album I ever bought and I have so much nostalgia for it. From their poetic lyrics to the way they compose music, it's out of this world and deserves a lot more attention in my opinion
Four is a mature album. It's the coming to an end of the four of them. The sound in Four is so mature, so well played, feels like every note and chord and beat is lived and experienced. I love Four for this feeling.
Definitely curious where you’d rank Alpha Games in this. I usually hate listening to Opinions on “newer” Bloc Party albums albums but this was a pretty fair assessment. Trojan Horse and Better Than Heaven are very underrated for me. Enjoyed the video
Hi, thank you. Considering I have yet to give Alpha Games enough listens to form a very cohesive opinion on it, my first 2 listens found me liking it more than Hymns and, whilst I'm not sure I prefer it over Four yet (although it is certainly getting there) - I have found it a more captivating listen overall than said record. Alpha Games seems like a proper amalgamation of everything they have done up until this point - whilst also breaking the tide a little by introducing some of the most experimentation to come out of the band in years. It isn't earth shattering, but I feel like this is the best kind of record they could have made at this point.
The section about the debut album is pure genius. Couldn’t have put it better myself and it really is the most incredible run of 7 songs outside of a radiohead album in my opinion. Just incredible
Grew up listening to these guys. My favourite album is Silent Alarm, but singles like Two more years and Skeleton are pure. Favourite tracks is Like Eating Glass and The Marshalls Are Dead, but I have so many. I also love the Silent Alarm remix album, especially Compliments
Ur ranking of the albums is exactly the same as mine I adore silent alarm and WITC intimacy is a lovely album Four is just a big get up and destroy the world album and yeah we don’t speak about hymns as the for the new record alpha games it’s actually pretty good IMO
It’s really hard for to place any of the album from worst to best. All are amazing in their own right. I’m also one of the 8 people who really enjoys hymns lol.
agreed. intimacy speaks to people who have been in serious relationships a bit more i feel. as a known simp i love intimacy. Talons prolly one of their more timeless songs
I really like this video! there should be more about those bands on youtube, so they'll never be forgotton. I also made a video about bloc party some time ago, a mix of all of their solos, you should check it out! greetings from germany!
17:57 ur wrong;) the more I listen to this album the more I realize how good the back-half of it rly is. Plans and Compliments could not have been a better ending for silent alarm
After 5 or so listens and getting past my initial fanboy-ism and excitement over BP releasing new material, I must say I am a bit underwhelmed by the lack of content on the record. It is the band's shortest record yet, and I don't think they do enough in its limited run-time. There are some stellar cuts (Traps has become a top 20 Bloc Party song for me, Sex Magik, Rough Justice and In Situ are stellar tracks too) but then there's also a lot of songs that just fall kind of flat, By Any Means Necessary, Girls Are Fighting and You Should Know The Truth come to mind for me. The rest of the record is just okay, really. I do like a lot of the experimentation that comes into play, and it certainly gets pretty dynamic at points. Them returning to the Intimacy sound is something I had not seen coming. But again, it is lacking in overall content, and I don't feel like there's enough material on it that is all too memorable. I'd probably give it a 6/6.5
i actually loved hymns 🥶 my rank would be 1. intimacy 2. hymns 3. four 4. silent alarm 5. that other one 6. not sure how i feel about this one yet 😶🌫️
It really grew on me shortly after I uploaded this. Initially I found it too silly to like but I had learned to embrace it. Had it on repeat a lot these past few weeks
MY MERCURY IS IN RETROGRADE

12:42 the feeling I get when I hear this man- it's like being in love or butterflies... ah man that drum and bass..
Their first 3 albums are beautiful in every way but really their best stuff is from the fan made b side album Another Weekend in the City
It’s really hard for to place any of the album from worst to best. All are amazing in their own right. I’m also one of the 8 people who really enjoys hymns lol.
Amazing video dude. Spot on. I’d swap intimacy and weekend in the city tho haha
lol this is a great video. Underrated channel
I honestly believe that Silent Alarm is the best debut Indie rock album of all time.
IMO Intimacy is a bit better than A Weekend, simply because Intimacy has Talons. I love Talons.
Very good video I like

My favorite song is probably pioneers
Kele now either wants to be Muse or Radiohead, he just can't decide

its cliche but unfortunately BPs discography for me mostly was a downward slope
How do feel about the High on life EP?
