I remember chatting to Sean Hughes one night in Cargo, Shoreditch. I didnt know he was an alcoholic until then and he was absolutely wasted. So sad because he was such a really nice guy. If only more was done to help addiction, and more to prevent it. The stigma makes it so hard for people to admit to a problem and ask for help early. RIP. A lot of good gags and fun on TV has been lost with him.
For some of us, our first exposure to Sia was through the UK Garage scene from the Exemen Works remix of her song "Little Man". HUGE hit in the clubs back then! It's arguably one of the top 10 most iconic UK Garage tracks of all time.
A one-minute version of this truly exquisite and valuable video was posted on Sia Twitter a few years ago. I have been looking for the full version since then and I searched a lot but could not find it.😭You must be a Sia stan to understand how I feel right now.✌I can't find the words to describe my happiness.😍 This video is very dear to me.😊Thank you sooooooo very much.👍 For dear late SEAN HUGHES, I pray for peace and happiness from God.💚🙏💙
Thank you so much for sharing this. This series feels like such a magical time capsule, and I loved Sean as a music presenter. He was obsessed with music, so seemed so natural when he was interviewing musicians. Is there any way of accessing any more Inside Tracks?
Why does this look like it was recorded last week? Yet nearly 25 years ago. Now go back from 2000 25 years - 1975. Thing looked MASSIVELY different. Things are definitely slowing down.
Difficult to believe Sean is no longer around. Cool interview though. Before Sia retreated from the public and appointed a proxy to be the public face of her music.
Never heard of crash-land before or Sia. Does anyone know what Sia and crash-land song they cut out in this interview? Also, never heard of Sean Hughes before either. Sorry to hear he passed away. And I am 53, just never watched the type of TV everyone else did I guess.
2000: SIA Interview with SEAN HUGHES | Inside Tracks | When They Were Young | BBC Archive 0859am 28.9.24 i've never heard of BBC Choice or Sia. which must say something about the wonderful world of fear (she seemed terrified) and the fact BBC Choice had no guests to showcase.... good luck, though...
@@LateNightKaiju Comments on ‘2000: SIA Interview with SEAN HUGHES | Inside Tracks | When They Were Young | BBC Archive’ 0901am 28.9.24 chandelier? a song about adolf hitler's attack of inveterate piles, no doubt? anyhow... well done sia.. as for some saps robbing you of your royalties. i dont think...ah never mind, eh?
The Crashland song was New Perfume, which was re-recorded and released in 2000 after signing with Independiente. I was given the original Blue Dog version in 1998 by a DJ mate and thought it was stupidly good. There was an industry buzz about them for a bit, but they were done by 2001. A shame, as they had some great songs. Alex Troup later released stuff as Troup.
lol SIA seems a little high here. I used to play her single Taken for Granted to death when it first came out. It’s such a great song with dry sarcastic lyrics starting of as being downbeat with how she’s treated and finishes with her feeling more empowered. It’s funny she comes across as quite cute and ditzy and that’s completely different to the sound/vibe of her music ☺️
What a brilliant interview: laid back, relaxed, them having a laugh. Sean what a legend, RIP fella.
Sean Hughes, I still remember his TV show. RIP fella. Good to see Sia being herself in a natural way before she went stellar.
2000: SIA Interview with SEAN HUGHES | Inside Tracks | When They Were Young | BBC Archive 0854am 28.9.24 amusing, for sure...
He died? Wow.
@@Dangerman5 yup I think he suffered from alcoholism and it gave him health problems.

Ireland created some great comedians. He was a great comic foil in the underrated The Last Detective.
Damn, I'd forgotten he'd passed not long ago... 😢
They could never keep a camera steady or not change to another camera for at least three seconds in those days 😆
Blame 24

I miss Sean..he was brilliant.
Loved this. Reminds me of the more indie style of shows at the time.
I wish i could of known and hung with Sia in her 20s she has a magnetic personality
Two beautiful human beings, very different to each other but equally loved. RIP Sean.
The year 2000 is “Archaeological”!? That’s depressing 😂
Sia was interviewed as early as 2000? Wow. I did not know about her back then.
She's so beautiful here
First heard Sia with Zero 7, great singer and seems lovely. Sean was class as always

I’d really love to see that Crashland performance of New Perfume that was edited out, if anybody has it.
The camera work from the interview with the Radio 1 guy is like something from a Mitchell and Webb sketch

Isn’t it time for a broadcast music show, that doesn’t feature dancing?
She’s so natural and cute. Funny Aussie in London.

Sia's most famous song is Chandelier, if you look it up you'll likely recognise it. She's come out with so many bangers. Love a lot of her stuff.

What about the Transatlantic slave trade?
