Wow, I guess I just passed the halfway mark on this series. I'm new to FO4, playing survival (mostly) blind, and just wanted tips on exploiting settlement mechanics to make survival easier. But this series has given me so much more. I even learned some tricky ways to get objects closer to each other just by watching you build. And I've really gained an appreciation for crap shacks and things that are built a little at a time in a natural progression. I can't wait to get Hangman's and see what I do with the place.
I really agree with your D&D analogy. The roleplay of this game is what holds me to it and the building aspect supports that hugely! I can tell that you've really studied the aesthetic of the game which is why your builds look so good; they fit seemlessly into the landscape of the game. I really like how you've tackled the house. I'm just getting used to the wiring trick mysel and it makes a huge difference. Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks! And yeah, I discovered I've never actually recorded the wiring process (I generally do it much later in the build when everything's in place since the wires sometimes interfere with new placements) so it was time. ;)
Yeah, I just got done with the wall and I can't really figure out either. It's close to a railroad so I'm imagining them, "somehow" bringing a railcar back to use. I also added a sentry and assaultron because they can be found close by.
I did not know this. Didn't even occur to me as a possibility. Tried it last night and it worked a treat; redid the whole field and now it looks much better. Thank you! :)
You can sink the Razorgrain pal. It's really annoying to group select it but if you use the metal post from the warehouse section it can be done. It's just a real pain
Tried this last night and I could not get it to work--the razorgrain didn't have any collision at all and none of the posts would grab it. Is there a particular spot or am I just doing it wrong?
It is a real pain to do. It is a real mission but I sink the metal pillar very slightly into the ground within the razor grain if that makes sense? Then you can just about group select the top of the metal post. A real nightmare I know. Also if there is no collision you need to store the Razorgrain and then place it again to group select it. Hope this helps.
as good as u r at this, u r still a student of the art. that's (partly) y u r my fav. I'm not terribly creative but I love building s***. n I can count on u 2 inspire. and u always try n out do yourself. I'm so glad u don't build the same f'ing junk wall over n over n over. thank u. good work as usual
I think that it would be great to walk around the Boston area and take parts of buildings, have the building look like it would if you actually did that. Maybe scrapping piles of bricks, and building with those bricks. Off topic: They had resource wars. Recycling should have been the law. It doesn't look like they were into that. People didn't have the usual hobbies that existed in our 1950's. If you really think about it, you realize the Bethesda didn't really think about it.
Definitely; with rationing and stuff, the pre-War CW would theoretically been much more vigilant about resource use and waste. I think they thought about it, but I'm not sure they thought it all the way through... then again, we're sittin here two years post-release with all kinds of time to ruminate on it. We didn't have to hit milestones and such. ;)
Yay!^^ Thx for answering the Questions so detailed!^^ And high 5 for P&P and D&D! XD Actually i watched the Vid hours ago after a P&P Party!^^ So, yep, i know Pen and Paper and i totally agree with you! (= And haha, NoRespawns was my first main Inspiration in Building Stuff. Thanks to him i came to NAHTE1696, who too builds very cool and unique stuff! (= You three now are my most beloved super duper scrappy-weird-awesome-stuff builders lol Fan-Girl-Modus XD And again a very cool Video! I love this Generator Shack O.o You can make 'simple' Stuff so nice *_*
Probably going to ignore it, other than leaving a clear space around it so the game has somewhere to put the enemies when they attack and placing some tactically interesting turrets to cover it.
I tried Skyrim and absolutely hated it! I hated the graphics and the fighting/battle mechanics. Hated the story and even the voice acting. I played for about an hour and deleted the game. That's $20 I'll never see again.
Five years and I'm still coming back to your video

it's really coming together. Looking great as always.
Thanks loco. :) More coming soon; almost positive the next video's gonna be more building here.
I really like how you plan to build the structures based on the surrounding areas and locations
Thank you! That's kind of how I have to build... without "anchors" I don't know what to do with the space haha :)

You can rug glitch the razorgrain so it doesn't float.

SarDeliac any time. You are welcome.
Oh thanks for this tip! :) :)

I often use a concrete wall the length of a row to sink the whole row at once. I find posts can be difficult to select over crops.

Great conversation ty from the future of an old man gaming👍👍👍👍🍺😎
Another great little build my friend. I havent been around in a while,(busy summer) glad to see your still uploading vids.
Thanks Bry. It's all good, yo; the videos'll be here when you get time. ;)
Very varied build for not using mods, but the floating plant are immersion breaking.

I really liked the Q n A and the wire glitch. :) :)
How did you get a brahmin so fast? Is it b/c of the razorgrain crops??
Thanks! And just got lucky with the brahmin; one of the first two settlers brought it with 'em.
Lol, ok :)

Thank you! They were good questions, and since I ramble anyway, detail's kind of part of the package haha :P
How r u planning on dealing with that enemy spawn point that's more or less right in front of the house?
Probably going to ignore it, other than leaving a clear space around it so the game has somewhere to put the enemies when they attack and placing some tactically interesting turrets to cover it.
13:57 you could have put a doorway and boarded it up
& I never had even heard of fallout until after fo3 was released
You know it never even occurred to me to stick a doorway there since I had the "entrance" on the side already. Would have sped things up a lot huh ;)
