At about 12, this film made me realize the impact the right musical score can enhance a film. Big is VERY underrated. It is among the best films ever made. Absolute magic!
I agree wholeheartedly. Elizabeth Perkins nails it absolutely perfectly with her motherly love expression once Josh has transformed and turns toward her one last time. She is an amazing actress and I dislike acting generally.

I can imagine if this movie was remastered into a ghetto version. Instead of the mother embracing Josh at the end, you have a ghetto mom smacking him around asking where's he has been, and letting him know how much he made everyone worry, while this music is playing in the background.

It is absolutely a different movie you're thinking of. Considering no one can find proof of it and it doesn't exist anywhere online, that says quite a bit on it not being real. This movie is inspired to an Italian comedy movie "da grande". "Big" has a deeper and sadder atmosphere, especially in the end. In the italian movie, the girl turn into a child.
