I remember when he lived in SoCal, tim minchin would occasionally come to the lobero theater and perform. I'm so grateful he moved to west coast America, cuz otherwise there is NO WAY i'd ever've been able to see him live.
A very interesting conversation. I really like Mr Minchin, he is an amazing person. I would like to address the topic of autism. I am a thirty-nine year old woman. I've probably been on the autism spectrum since childhood, it's just that no one has diagnosed it. I don't see the point of doing it now. It won't help me find a job or behave differently or perceive reality differently. I won't tell a future employer: ‘I'm autistic, please treat me differently’ or “I'm suitable for this position, but I'm autistic and I have trouble reading people's emotions, I don't always behave appropriately to the situation”. - Employers aren't looking for damaged people just fit for work. A diagnosis now will not help me in any way, nor will any therapy change my attitude. It doesn't matter if I understand my childhood better through the prism of the disease. It is impossible to fix the past or change my situation in the job market. I think it is too late for everything. It pisses me off, I feel that I am in a no-win situation.
