The Best Yakuza Game.

- I like to exaggerate a lot in my videos and make jokes that are very obviously jokes that everyone takes seriously. But if there's one thing I will never joke about, it's that Lost Judgment was so good that it made me genuinely not want to play any of the other Yakuza games ever again. But I do anyway lol.

It's like 6 frames out of 110,000 but there are some rendering bugs I couldn't fix sorry :(
And I also hope the music isn’t too loud and you can understand me throughout the video because I only realised after uploading that I probably should’ve boosted the commentary more

Yes, this has set the new record for my longest ever video. Yes, this entire video series was a ploy to talk about Lost Judgment for 30 minutes. Yes, I will forever hold a grudge against Skill Up (dunno why you'd ask that last bit though)
I genuinely don't know what shill up was smoking when he reviewed LJ. Probably the worst video he made.
Just wait until you see his Final Fantasy XVI review
@@SnowiestAngeman is it one of those "ff16 is not final fantasy" reviews lol
god, i hated that video. i still dont know what he was thinking when he wrote the review
Thank you!
ready to watch "The Other Best Yakuza Game" once Infinite Wealth comes out

The real anti-bullying PSA was at the beginning when kaito slapped that kid and grinned at him on the ground

2. Is also an anti bully PSA
Time for the annual lost judgment beat off. Will funny Australian man make lost judgment lose its judgment by beating it off? Let's find out!
Lost Judgment was a chef's kiss. Such a fantastic game to play through. I hope RGG will make another new game with either on par or better free flow combat. The ost is like crack, I need a fix of it so often. Chihiro Aoki crafted so many excellent tracks in this game with Dig in Your Heels and Unwavering Belief being personal favourites.
Chihiro Aoki music is like crack I won’t lie
It's onyl weakness was in the story.
@@Draffut2003yeah, I enjoyed the story, but there are things that can be improved, such as Yagami not making Sawa Sensei as the only example of consequences and stuff
@@jrirch2089 the UI was a far more serious issue than the story. Locking the controls to the screen at all times borderline ruins the game. There’s no first person mode without investigation HUD either, so in effect they basically removed first person view. They also didn’t get rid of the popup Tips, and there’s more messy icons and items around the world than ever. It all badly hurts the experience and it breaks my heart
@@LAK_770 in my experience it doesn’t really matter to me, never had an issue with it
I stand by the fact that Yagami has THE BEST fighting style in the entire Yakuza series, and it shines in Lost Judgement. This game genuinely has some of the best combat I've ever had the pleasure of engaging in.
The skateboard might be one of the best additions too. Playing Gaiden now, I wish Kiryu would just learn how to skateboard already.
If anything I expected kiryu to use the agent boots to jet around like how Yagami uses the skateboard... but then again that wouldn't be so covert for a secret agent, would it? Lol
@@RubyRedPhoenix413 doesn't he fly around already
Which do you recommend? Gaiden or Lost Judgement? I dunno which to play first
@@AzManaplost judgement
@@AzManapDefinitely Lost Judgment as it’s more of a whole experience.
Gaiden is more of a shorter experience, made to explain what Kiryu was doing during or near the events of the first Like a Dragon game, leading up to some explanation for his involvement in Infinite Wealth.
If you haven’t already though, I recommend the first Judgement game if anything. It’s the same engine, combat still feels great, really not that much older than Lost Judgement and it gets you more familiar with the characters and story as well.
One thing to point out is the way Yagami controls, he's much, much more nimble now when you walk and run around the open world. In comparison Kiryu feels like controlling a fucking tank in Y6 and same for Yagami in the original Judgement
You know what, the same can be said about controlling Dante in DmC (so flexible) vs classic Dante (so stiff). The difference really is night and day.
@@gotinogadenI’ve never felt Dante to be stiff in dmc3 onward
This game especially really shows RGG’s growth with Dragon Engine combat, I had huge issues with the way Y6 and K2 played and it makes me happy to say this game is on par with (and probably even better than) Y0’s combat, it makes me really excited to see what they’ll do to refine Kiryu’s DE moveset in Gaiden
Kiryu might be able to do juggle combos so looking forward to that
I also rate voice actors by how many times I have played Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer with them
It is a very standard unit of measurement

Literally my favorite game of all time. So freakin good. Best combat and gameplay, best story (because of the way its relatability cuts deep for me), best side content, best OST, best everything!
Playing through Judgment rn, and its great, I cant believe they could make something even better.
I kid you not everything that feels good in the gameplay of Judgment, will look terrible when you play Lost Judgment lol
@@SnowiestAngeman I wonder if gaiden will have the same effect on LJ, but on the other hand LJ sounds as if its gonna be hard to beat.
@@SnowiestAngeman I had the same experience when replaying Judgment to beat it on Legend. Judgment is still amazing but Lost Judgment upgrades the gameplay in basically every way (except the chases, they feel worse somehow) so it's hard to want to go back to Judgment anymore.
@@Awesomepelt It's probably due to the fact Judgment chases are typically longer. LJ adds a lot to chases but all those have the unintended side effect of indirectly cutting up the length. It's like they didn't take into account the new stuff when making chases.
@@mat8791 Maybe, but my issue is that the dodge timing is off and most of the time I dodge yagami still hits the obstacle I was dodging because he moves too early, whereas in Judgement he cleared any obstacle I made the correct input on. It doesn’t cause actual gameplay issues it just makes the chase less satisfying. In The Groove makes up for all of that and more, though.
BASED, always glad to see Lost Judgment getting the love and respect it deserves
Also 11:32 fun fact about mortal reversals for those who don't know, at least if my memory from playing the demo of Gaiden at PAX West is correct mortal reversals are actually coming back in LAD Gaiden which is pretty cool.
Yeah it's coming back, i saw kiryu doing an axe kick as his agent style mortal reversal in one of his style demo videos or whatever you call them. Cool stuff
Ok give update now
Peak gaming. Easily my favorite game from this studio and has become an all time favorite as more time passes.
I actually like the story more in this game than the previous because I found the way the mystery was framed to be more interesting. You're essentially working a mystery backwards where you know exactly who is involved but you're figuring out the motive and how they did it. That and while many dock points for the story not being personal to Yagami, I actually prefer it because it feels like he's a legendary detective that just stumbled his way into something bigger than himself.
It isn't my favorite story in the series but I think it at least stands next to the original and is one of the better ones in the franchise.
That’s actually a very good point about the story. I still really enjoyed it too though but I mean the game could’ve had a story about two cavemen going unga bunga for 30 hours but so long as the gameplay was the still the same I still would’ve popped off about it haha
@@SnowiestAngeman true lmao. Really wonder how they can top the brawler combat from here. Based retrospective btw.
BASED LOST JUDGMENT. LET’S GO BOIZ!!!
Lost Judgement is worth every penny spent. Smooth gameplay and so much content to experience in the game
I LOVE your retrospectives!! Can't wait to see you make for Infinite Wealth Demo or the full version
I watched all your series and what a ride. thank you for making this series video and I had a lot of fun watching! keep it up!

I’d gladly do it for another 30 minutes too

Thanks for this content. I highly enjoy this series and your take on the reviewing of those great games. Keep up the good work!
you're real good at making me look forward to play this games. & that outro was beautiful
Just watched the whole Yakuza Retrospective Series in one day because haha funny editing and great analysis.
I loved the videos, and I'm expecting to see what new content you bring us with LAD: Gaiden and LAD 8 :) .
That montage at the end got me listening to Hasty Spirit/Blood-Drunk Master’s Theme on repeat, and then I got to the part in Gaiden where they reuse that theme and I ascended into the heavens
Lost Judgment has the perfect combination of story, gameplay, characters, themes, and yakuza tomfoolery. I can't wait for IW and Gaiden, but I know that LJ has definitely set a new standard in RGG history. It, in fact, IS the best Yakuza game
No? IW is. Game’s gone gold and copies are floating around. Get yaself a copy and see how good it is
@@xbon1 Having finished IW, nah it's good but this was better
@@xbon1 Nah.
Having years of "experience" (making amvs) and passion for video editing seeing your commentary, editing, (audio sync, scene placement, etc), and overall passion in your videos is VERY inspiring. My personal favorite videos from you are your resyncs. Just wanted to drop a compliment, keep up the great work!
Holy hell man what video. That ending got me so hyped. Love the videos.
All my homies HATE Skill Up
Judgment and Lost Judgment helped me through some of the roughest times of my life; I adore the characters, the vibe, and the fighting; I adore the heartfelt drama and the feels of Kaito files. Thank you for this video, sir! I must revisit these sometime soon...thank you!
What an amazing time to release such an amazing video! I just finished Kaito files a week ago. All I can say is, reading your channel description and getting lost judgment was the best decision I've made in a long while. Truly, the peak of RGG.
Also, please put a link to the thumbnail in the description or somewhere else lol
man you've really kicked up your production and editing, keep up the great vids
I’m glad you think so :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one to use the reset camera trick. You make me wanna play the game again 😭
LJ's story is peak and no one can convince me otherwise. People who complain about Yagami spamming Sawa-sensei seemed to miss she was his best argument, appealing to the humanity the main antagonist had and THAT IT WORKED. Reminds me of the people who make fun of the Tidus laughing scene in FFX.
that ending was the best, you should totally turn it into its own short video (like 30 seconds or something, an excerpt)
very excited to play this game eventually, started playing the series at the start of the year and ive come back and watched this video 3 or 4 times
Another funny plot point is that Yagami just seems to be the bane of Japan's health ministry.
Something cool about the Kaito File DLC that you didn’t mention was that the main female lead in it was actually pretty cool and that’s a first for an RGG game 💀
The combat in this game is so sexy, I love it so much
There's a particular street in the game that has a 100% spawn rate on both ends of the street. So if you want to grind SP relatively fast, you can just run to one side of the street and when you win the fight, the next group like 50ft away will spawn. So just run back and forth
Ah yes.. The Ijin Street experience
Nice video and amazing outro!
Actually just finished Kaito Files tight before this video, Lost Judgment has to be my favorite RGG game so far, especially the ending
Thank you for singing the praises of LOST PEAKMENT 💯💯💯💯
Most accurate review of this game by an Australian I’ve ever seen
I appreciate the 30 minute upload especially knowing you love Lost Judgement so much.
oh my god that outro is so good!!!!
Damn that ending gave me chills. I loved being along for this long journey of covering all these games just to end it off with peak fiction. Lost judgment is so damn good you kinda wonder how they'll ever top it. Either way, great retrospective series man. I'm interested in seeing your thoughts on gaiden and infinite wealth in the future!
LOST JUDGMENT IS GOATED
Appreciate the well made montage at the end
a channel that ive been looking for
I agree that this is overall the most solid, complete, and aesthetically brilliant RGG game.....so this makes it even more terrible that you can't get rid of the control HUD. In a game where getting immersed in a hyper-realistic virtual tourism environment is 50% of the draw, ruining the visuals with UI is borderline unforgivable. Then there's the "Tips" that pop up after most fights, the items and icons cluttering the screen, and the lack of a HUD-free first-person view. Just a general lack of restraint with the UI that really hurts the aesthetic experience. It's a big deal precisely BECAUSE the game is so perfect in every other way.
Agreed, I'm really excited to see what the gang at RGG have up their sleeve for Gaiden after the masterwork which was the LJ combat system.
That montage at the end goes incredibly hard.
Yagami is slowly becoming more and more anime with every game. Have you seen what he can do during Crane's EX boost?
Lost Judgement is easily one of the best games in the franchise and has some of the most fun combat. It just feels so damn good to play, and all the side activities and arcade games makes it addicting.
Combat is god-tier. However, replaying LJ again after finishing LaD makes me feel like Yagami isn't that connected to the community of Ijincho as much as he was in Kamurocho during Judgment.
PS: Skateboarding around town, while barebones in terms of controls, has this satisfying sense of movement I can't seem to find anywhere else.
Definitely one of my favorite games of all time. One of the very few games I bought during release week
This video is so good, Lost Judgement is probably my favourite game of all time, its just peak gaming tbh
here’s to more lengthy videos, I genuinely enjoy these and I think yakuza needs an informative long-form content creator- wouldn’t pick anyone other than you.
The conversation Log is an amazing feature I sometimes i want to read what they said again because you might press skip by accident it just amazing
So glad they're going to continue the free flow combat in the judgement series. I like turn based combat, but it isnt what got me into the Yakuza franchise
This video's thumbnail emits one of the most visceral feelings towards me
I just finished Lost Judgement and the 25:10 "Fuck you its illegal, Sawa-sensei, Dragon Crushing Fist" is 100% accurate to the real ending
Admittedly I sort of love the story a lot, especially carried by the villains. I didn’t mind that bullying was the main social issue they were talking about, I think they did it pretty well. Especially when discussing the after-effects of high-school bullying. Just in general I’m impressed with how invested I got in Judgement 1 & 2, I hope they continue the series
Lost Judgment was such a great game. I'd love to replay it someday.
Babe wake up, Snow posted a new banger of a video
Lost Judgment kicks ass. I never figured out how the extract system works though
Babe wakeup new snowiest angeman on peak dropped
See you in November when you're going to do a review on Gaiden
Great video
100%ed the game and Kaito files and really the only thing I can criticize about Lost Judgment is that there weren't enough boss-fight quick events. The final fight only had one as far as I can remember for example
Lost Judgment also has one of my favourite DLC i’ve ever played, Kaito files was an insane ride, felt like a fully fledged game just without the side content.
That outro was insane❤
YESSSS A NEW VIDEO
And it’s 30 minutes too lets gooooo
This has been the video I've been waiting the entire series for.
Top 3 games of all time.
I personally don't dislike this video's title but I think " the best RGG game ever " would have been a better title.
And while I do enjoy Lost Judgement and see how it's easily better than Judgement in content and features wise but personally I still can't bring myself to think it's better than Yakuza 0. It's still the best RGG game for me in story, content, gameplay, minigames and overall everything wise. The only thing that I feel like it lacks is a proper English voice over which should've a thing in the beginning of the series instead of new soft reboot. Well that's at least what my opinion is.
Anyways amazing video as always and I was wondering if you you could cover other games like this instead of just RGG games in general ( for example, Resident Evil, Final fantasy, Tekken, Street fighter, Devil May Cry, Death Stranding or any other games you personally like in general ) I would love to see if you could cover other genre of games if you would like to. Anyways looking forward to your next video
Kuwana is probably the best written RGG studios character... my vaping goat
The most peak moment has to be when Jimmy Judgement said "I'm sorry, Kaito Files. Looks like I've Lost Judgement once more"
lost judgment? more like based judgment
if my 7 favoritism didn't exist i would probably put lj in my second or first favorite game of all time in a heartbeat
This was an awesome retrospective, and it's incredible how that we're finally at the point where RGG/Yakuza/LAD is now becoming a globally simultaneous release
Absolutely love Lost Judgment. My only significant complaint on gameplay would be cycling through fighting styles with a single button rather than have them assigned to a direction on the dpad like 0 and K1. The story also lulls a little bit in the middle. There are so many chapters in a row where nothing new is revealed to the player and its encounter after encounter of no one knows what the fuck is going on, as opposed to JE where info is steadily given to the player over the course of the entire game. However, the last two chapters are maybe the best thing RGG has ever written.
I was waiting for this
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS (I apologise if you have not played Persona 3 ‘cause otherwise I look like a psycho)
22:54 love the dig on Shillup there
Can't wait for the Gaiden retrospective next week
You know a soundtrack is amazing when it comprises over 25% of my workout playlist.
Man you went so hard on that ending.
I am aware im late but fun fact: last year the first thing they thought in phylosophy was morality. And i set up (poorly) a debate between yagami and kuwana. Unfortunately i didnt have much time so it fell through
Excellent summation of everything that makes Lost Judgment great, I appreciate you making this video. I feel Lost Judgment really hasn't gotten the praise it deserves, and hopefully your video can get more people to play this masterpiece.
Spoilers Below:
I also appreciate that you didn't linger on the Yagami "muh Sawa-sensei" point as much as others often do. While I do feel it could've been written somewhat better, Yagami's view is as valid as Kuwana's is, and I don't think Yagami is wrong for trying to emphasize that ironically, in Kuwana's search to protect the helpless and avenge them, someone got kiled. Obviously Yagami's view is less nuanced, but I think it works because of how it is contrasted with Kuwana. I feel most people miss the point that Yagami is trying to make that seeking justice through murder will inevitably end in the harm of innocents. Judgment definitely has the more solid plot, but Kuwana is without a doubt one of my favorite antagonists of all fiction, if not just straight up my favorite. The fact that most people who play Lost Judgment agree with Kuwana over Yagami says something.
i'm going through the series right now(starting 4 soon) but i'm so excited to play the latter games in the franchise they seem so dam fun
Judgement 3 please transform boxing into kickboxing style it would be perfect for yagami
this is legit your best video, no joke
Lost Judgment was and still is my favorite Yakuza game. The new Snake style was a very nice addition to his Tiger and Crane styles. The story was mature and more personal this time around. The school side content was very interesting even i did not enjoy a few of them (robotics) and it was a blast smacking dudes and watching them getting ragdoll and flail around... great stuff. Even Kaito files expansion was very good by its own right. This and the first game are my top favorite Yakuza spinoffs in the franchise. Hope for a third installment 👌🏾👌🏾
Holy hell that edit at the end was heat
The immediate first song I hear being Battle For Survival from DDS2 is a great sign
Can't wait for found judgment
But what about Sawa-sensei? Did she get to play Lost Judgement for PS4, XB1, or PC???
When i looked up crispin freeman to find out he was 51!?! that just blew my mind
I bought PS4 for both Judgment and LJ back in 2021 :D
Still replayed them on PC year later, 60+ FPS makes combat even more smooth
A worthy purchase
You know it's great they didn't just write out previous characters but with how Shino was treated I kinda wish they didn't even include him. My guy got character assassinated so hard, turned from a bit of a shy and nervous guy who was still damn good at what he did, had a great, strong heart and conquered his nerves when the time called for it into the biggest wank on the cast that it feels like character assassination. All the other returners and new characters are great but I was really dissapointed with how dirty they did him, especially because I really liked him in Judgment.
Playing it atm, could not really get into one of the Yakuza games yet, but I love this game so far despite is quirky control mechanics regarding climbing. But I love the setting and story so far and also the pace!
Lovin the SMT music in the background lmao.
Love your video. Lost Judgement is also my favorite game of the franchise (I played all the main line games + 2 Judgement games). My problem with a lot of other games in the franchise is that, for every new installments, RGG improves upon the previous games, but also introduces some pretty quetionable stuffs that bog down my enjoyment. Lost Judgement, however, is simply an upgrade on almost everything compares to its predecessor. The best combat since the introduction of Dragon Engine, finally a game in Dragon Engine that I do feel have better combat than the old engine; the game "school story" also serves as an excellent piece of side content; Kuwana being the best antagonist in the entire franchise. And yeah, while the story isn't as mysterious or suspenseful as the first Judgement, it is defintiely a lot more emotional.
It pains me that the future of the Judgement series is still uncertain. I hope they would at least do a complete trilogy with it.
To be fair GTA 5 has a take a dog for a walk button. Lol. My boy Chop.
Lost Judgment is peak! I waited for this review since the series started. The way you praised it in earlier videos hyped me up so much, which usually means that I will get dissapointed. In this case, my expectations got shattered though and this is now in my top 3 RGG games ever made
the edit at the end goes hard
