    Being a mechanic myself, I switched from the red silicone to the permatex Grey, it really holds up better than the high temp

    • @JFabrication
      @JFabrication ปีที่แล้ว

      absolutely either use grey or honda bond. I like grey permatex because its a little easier to remove at next service but holds up way better than red/black and doesnt look messy either.

    Love the video. I restored a 2000 CR 250R it was a blast. The fly wheel will make a world of difference in the woods, also I felt the brakes sucked on my CR and went with a Galfer oversized brake kit for my bike, worked Great. Also found a Magura hydraulic clutch system on eBay for cheep. The bike is a blast to ride. I do not race anymore, but I take this old girl out every Sunday and ride with my old buddies. Most of my buddies have bought old 2 strokes and brought them back to life. Again love the videos.

    The 12t cs will make it rev out even quicker and lessen the flywheel effect. Why not try it with stock gearing and see if the FW can tap into the grunt? Changing two things at once always leaves you guessing.

    I have a 97 cr250 got it bone stock put some v force reeds in it and did a 12 oz weight as well also I went up too a 52 tooth in the back kept the front sprocket stock and its truly amazing in the woods and tight single track the flywheel weight gave it so much more mid range power as well as helped with the stalling. But the biggest mod you can do with these CR’s is the carb I swapped out the pos carb that came with the bike and got a keihin pwk air Striker. No fouling no black premix everywhere bike runs clean and mean

      What would really make a great is a PWK air striker and pulse injection. Or add pulse injection with the Lectron Then you would get the low-end power you’re looking for and crazy over rev. No stalling. And best of all, All around improve power in all stages of RPM

    For the low budget folks, put the bike in fifth gear and use an impact gun to remove the nut. Someone can sit on the bike and hold the brake if required Then use a rope to run down the cylinder hole to hold the engine from spinning when you torque it down. No special tools required.

    I once owned 1996 and 1999 CR 250s and they actually had pretty good bottom end torque. I installed fly wheels on them, and also tossed the aluminum clutch plates and installed steel plates. That kept the transmission oil cleaner longer.

    The thing with that UHMW plastic spacer is nothing adheres to it. Probably better off getting two gaskets or making two rubber or fiber gaskets. The company I used to work for got the idea to CNC small UHMW electrical enclosures as a way to save money vs the stainless steel enclosures they were using. At first they tried to use silicone on the mating surfaces, that failed so they machined an o-ring groove but the plastic cover deflected enough to allow water in. The company ended up replacing all the enclosures with stainless enclosures and replacing all the damaged electronics inside plus the labor for me to change them out. If you pull on the dried silicone it will practically fall off the plastic so it probably makes no difference using the sealant.

I found the bike really difficult to rev up and come on the pipe, if you need the power down quickly for a big hill it becomes a big problem almost feeling like the bike is jetted wrong with a big flat spot. Anybody else feel the same? Or just me 😂
