I recently read Travis Barker’s book and he says that he knows he doesn’t have the perfect technique and it’s on purpose. He does it because he thinks it’s more fun to play and especially more fun for fans to watch
I get that it's for the fans and all but he's shortening his career, and he's damaging his body during the process. You saw that picture in the beginning. I know that he wants to have fun and entertain his fans but in my opinion, if you're severely damaging yourself while playing and practicing, just like sports athletes you will shorten your career and it is the quickest to end your drumming life.
You talk about how his technique is bad but I would love to hear exactly HOW it is bad and how it could be better. You mentioned the death grip on the sticks but would love to see you break it down with good/bad examples.

same. first time i heard "take off your pants and jacket" i was amazed at how creative his beats were. unlike anything i've heard in the pop punk scene. most people always focus on how 'technically' good some drummers are but what they fail to respect is how big a role creativity plays in music. it's not just about turning every song into a drum solo, it's about finding the perfect way to express something. the way travis drums always fits the song he's doing, whether it's blink, BCR, hiphop, or something else.
Another issue with the death grip playing is a loss of dynamics. When you lose dynamics, expression and nuance are severely limited. He makes up force through force of will essentially. Would love to see you check out Darren King of Mutemath, Reset live.
Jeremy Brazzell That’s a great point. I’ve always enjoyed Barker’s playing and it works incredibly well within Blink’s vibe but it’s like there’s a very uniform ‘downforce’ on everything. Those sticks get really planted every hit.
Divinity Mode in a TH-cam vid by Harry Miree he mentions that Travis uses dynamics not by hitting softer just hitting hard at quieter instruments like a side snare or rim.
I cannot like this comment enough. If it's not enough that he's ruining his body with jungle rot on his fingers and carpel tunnel in his wrists, then it's enough that he's hamstrung his dynamics. I love it.

No biggie but the 1039 smooth ep by Green Day wasn't actually Tré Cool drumming, he arrived on their 2nd album Kerplunk.
Please review Matt Greiner from August Burns Red, he’s the Travis barker of metal. Provision is a good song to review
Men react to anthem or Adam's song by blink.
Hey man, could you review John Siorek from Knuckle Puck? One of my favorite drummers atm
Listen to Matt Greiner - August Burns Red. Amazing drummer, very technical and rudimentary for a heavy metal drummer
If you don't know Travis, you don't know drumming.
Hahaha. Oki dokie
Id like to see you do a reaction and maybe a comparison between Travis Barker and Scott Raynor doing Dammit
Jose Pasillas’ Sick Sad Little World clinic is fire!!!!!
His thumbs look like that because he plays soooo much and some songs of theirs you cant physically play like Travis UNLESS thumbs are used! ITS CALLED BEAST MODE something you will NEEEEEVER understand!!!
You're obviously not a drummer. But thanks for the view!!
Please up the subject level so we can hear it. Otherwise, I really appreciate your honest reviews.
Ron Welty from The Offspring is really creative too.
If you havent already reacted to Mike Portnoy, The Rev, or Chris Adler, then you need to asap!! Theyre my favorite drummers that inspired me to take up drumming. And if you already have, then do it AGAIN!!
I've done videos on all them. 2 on the rev
@@JunkdrummerTV oh! Guess im gonna have to watch more of your videos lolz
Please do
john kiffmeyer was in the kit for 1039 smoothed out
Rodrigo alfaro, satanic surfers. Superb fast punk drummer and on top of that he sings too. Really well. Be interesting to see your take on him. I'm also a drummer. But I never grew out of punk or had a kid punk phase. Haha. It runs in my blood ✌️
I know I'm late to the party here, but I got a question. Does nirvana era Dave Grohl have good technique?
