Coffee Walk Ep38: Craig Jackson's rare '65 Shelby GT350

- Today on Coffee Walk I travel to Arizona to visit the one-and-only Craig Jackson (CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company) to talk about his one-owner 1965 Shelby GT350 #553 - that I sold him!
This Shelby was originally from California that Richard Rawlings and I located in a barn sitting in the Texas dirt. Craig, being an avid collector of classic Mustangs, wanted the car for his personal collection. After countless hours of restoration and searching for original and NOS (new old stock) parts, Craig restored a true champion of the Ford Mustang line.
Fun fact: This exact Shelby Mustang GT350 is a "Triple Crown Winner". It is also the only 1965 Shelby to ever obtain the "Thoroughbred" award due to the level of restoration and original condition.

Adding my "wow." I had an "original" matching numbers 66. Stripped it to bare metal and repaired minor rust with steel (no filler). It was the 6-cylinder with three-speed stick so not that collectible but still very nice when finished. Sold it on to take on another project. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

I used to ride in a convertible GT350 my friend owned in St.Charles Mo., very sweet car with that blue white color combo., My other friend had an Orange Boss 429! Those were the days.

I'm from the UK and I wish we have the great cars that you guys have, we don't have any muscle cars of such, the cars that are collectable over here is Mk1 / Mk2 Cortina Lutus, Mk1 / Mk2 Escort Mexico / Rs 2000 also the Capri 3.0L and then 2.8 L capri obviously we the Porches and so forth, I've often wondered why Ford didn't bring the Mustang over here, Thank you Dennis for taking the time to share your knowledge with others, very interesting and informative,
If your interest I own and restoring a Mk1 escort 1300e which is a 1300 Gt but with cloth seats and a few extras like over riders on the bumpers / spot light and a few other bits.
I do watch fast and loud and often thought you should have you own show doing what you do here, once again thanks for sharing,

You never know 1986 my buddy's dad was going to sell me a GT500 Shelby for $13,000.... I was not a mustang man .. and I had like 50 big block Chevy cars original numbers cars.., in the early - 80 - you could buy Big block cars for $800 to $1,000 all day long. Don't know why my friend didn't buy it it was a real one had the Shelby plate on the apron... The friend I took I did sell him a brand new (427 side oiler) crate motor in the crate ...He still has that motor to day still sitting in the crate never did anything with it... He is probably high seventies 80 years old right now .

Yes it's an awesome car but I don't think it'll ever be driven like it should or even seen at a SAAC (Shelby American Automobile Club) convention. Would love to meet him and see the car an have him prove me wrong lol
And that purple Chrysler product in behind them is probably worth more money, if its the one that went through the auction couple years ago for $3.5 million lol

I have to laugh it's called the Mustangs GT350 but I love the Cuda with the 426 Hemi white interior white vinyl top purple which I think takes both of them cars
It's a stunning car and I get the whole rarity aspect but it's still kind of sad in a way. What you have is a 'perfect' museum piece and that's fine, I guess, if you're mainly into enhancing its monetary value. But these cars were meant to be DRIVEN. Driven hard, driven fast. Raced, enjoyed. The thrill and true enjoyment of these kinds of cars lies in the visceral feel, sound, smell, and exhilaration you get from driving them, not polishing them and visiting them once in a while in their climate-controlled storage facility. The thing that inspired Caroll Shelby to design and build these cars was the thrill of driving them. Mr. Collins, I'm sure you personally knew Mr. Shelby and as such could call BS on my opinion about him but from what I've read, I would think that he would want to his cars driven, for wasn't his vision to produce an all-American sports car that you could drive to market and also race during the weekend? It's awesome that guys like yourself have the ability to find and restore such wonderful and significant pieces of history. But I think the car collector world needs to stop worrying about if every washer and gasket on the car is authentic and take these cars out for a thrilling drive on a winding road every once and a while. Love your channel. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

I had one stole in dec 2015 after my dad died belong to my maw Essie Mae Pruitt and my paw Johnny doyle they stole over 600 old cars my mom still hasn’t told anybody they took everything I had 4 old safes so many baseball cards stamps guns gold coins so much other stuff pray for me Dennis I’m a big fan

One of the things I hate about this level of car collecting and car showing is this arguing over seat stitching. etc.... We have a 356 in the family that I have custody of. You can't touch it. You can't enjoy it. Never sell it because we couldn't stand the nitpicking. Enjoy your damn car.
owning a pristine musclecar is now a hindrance ,an expensive undertaking obviously and a pain in the ass rather than pure joy as it was intended.
my friend owns a 100 point gto judge,he drove it once to work and moved it 6 times in an hour because people parked within 2 spots of were it was parked.
my other friend has a 1969 camaro z28...dz 302 4 speed car with 20,000 miles and he is the original owner,appraised at $180,000(the judge is closer to $400,000)
