    You can get a counterfeit claim from companies directly especially if listed as new. I received a counterfeit takedown and the email had a contact email for the company. I emailed them since I had bought the item in Amazon and they apologized and told eBay to relist for me. Tbh I think some companies are just trying to discourage resale of their item and are banking on not being challenged. If the takedown does not have a contact, I agree to not poke the bear

    Regarding the inquiry about store sell through rate, that information is very important to someone who needs to make a certain amount of money each month. Knowing your sell through rate helps you calculate approximately how many items you should have in your store to generate the amount of monthly profit you’re trying to make. Then you can take that information and decide whether you want to maintain that inventory level or change what you sell to adjust the profit per item and ultimately end up at your desired income. It can be an eye-opening calculation.

    I only factor in sell-through rate if the item will be "difficult" in some way (Difficult to list, hard to pack, or large and inconvenient to store). I feel a quick selling item is worth a small inconvenience.

    Items also get flagged and ended as counterfeit if you're selling internationally and one of the countries doesn't allow that item. I had this happen recently with a cosmetics item that I'd purchased from a reputable major retailer. I just changed it to domestic shipping only and it's been fine since. The long and long of this is that it may be worth the seller's while to pick up the phone and call to find out why it was ended for being counterfeit.

    The product research tool is helpful in searching sold items going back 3 years, when general searches don't give back much results, typically rare to moderately scarce items would be suited for this search option and to track the changes in the value of an item over time, if that doesn't work Worthpoint is another option tracking sales going back 10 years.

    The perfect sell through rate is selling the exact number of items you can list in the same amount of time. My store is 600 items. I sell 150 items a month. I list 150 items a month. I had a higher sell through before at 200 items a month but kept bumping my profit margins higher to sell less. My store was shrinking and was incapable of growing unless I put in more time. Funny thing is, I make the same amount of money selling 150 per month now vs 200. The only way to know for sure is experience over a long amount of time, being consistent and constantly making small changes to see how it affects sales.

      Was it Ticket to Ride or similar? New "specialty" boardgames are notorious for manufacturers only allowing sale by authorized vendors. Used ones are typically allowed but not new as the manufacturer wants to support their authorized dealers (and often fixed pricing.) I have no idea why the notice is counterfeit but have seen and heard this with Ticket to Ride. My guess is the manufacturer flags it that way given it's not authorized and thus "fake."

      @debrahansley I cant say for sure but would guess eBay is the most common depending on how and who is scanning. (My first experience was with the Furminator pet grooming tool. It was new in package and had been listed for several weeks before I received the counterfeit notice. I researched it and found they are also an "authorized dealer only" company.) It could also be that another user flagged it after they had theirs taken down ("If I can't sell mine, you can't sell yours.")

    I noticed many resellers have thousands and thousands and thousands of listings in the pre-owned category not yet sold and it doesn't account for all the inventory not listed how does that affect numbers at the end of the year. Example, all the stuff that was purchased to resell in 2024 that hasn't sold by 2025 what do you do. Do you claim a loss ? Could you bring the topic up in a video, not so much about advice because I know TH-camrs don't like to give tax advice but could you at least explain how you personally handle yours. Thanks , videos are always soothing i like the ambience.

    Not a question but more of a suggestion. As a business owner that buys and sells on eBay, I had a problem a few years ago with a seller. I opened a claim and left them negative feedback for an item they never shipped. Then they started purchasing off me using multiple different accounts and filed a not as described claim against about a dozen sales in short order. I did get a hold of eBay customer service and they were able to link all of these accounts to one person, the same person that I purchased from. Although eBay shut down all of their accounts, I didn’t want my buying activities to somehow compromise my selling account so I opened a second eBay account dedicated to buying only and haven’t had a problem since. Therefore, I think it might be a good idea to have a separate selling account and a separate buying account. Oh, and it’s also a good idea if you sell out of your house to use a different return address. Getting an address at a UPS store, for example would work. You don’t want angry customers showing up at your house.

    Shipping same day comment. Isn't it considered "shipped" once you create the shipping label? Most of what I sell are trading cards. I can typically print a label for the card, seconds after the order is placed no matter what time of day it is. That typically marks it as "shipped" in eBay, even though I haven't actually dropped it in the mail yet.

    • @justinresells
      @justinresells  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This works as long as the item arrives within the time advertised to the buyer. If it doesn't arrive in that time AND the initial scan occurred AFTER the handling time, eBay considers it late and dings your account.

      This is easier to pull off with cards, assuming you’re using eBay standard envelope shipping, because they have limited tracking. It’s more obvious if you do this with other items as they’re tracked more heavily and are also more likely to arrive late.

      If I sell something late on a Friday it is not going to the post office until Monday morning. I work third shift so I'm not going Saturday by the noon post office cut off. I typically go to post office later at night on my way to work since they are very close by. I'm wondering if technically Tuesday would be the cut off as one day shipping. If a salecomes in late Friday night after business hours, wouldn't it roll over to the next "business day", which would be Monday? And if it's a Monday sale, it would need to go out on Tuesday?? I've been wondering this and if I don't have to make a day time trip to the post office. (That's my sleepy time😊) And I can just drop it off when I go to work Monday night?? Phew, that was a long winded explanation/question 😂 my apologies...

    • @debrahansley
      @debrahansley หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bobbiellison4315 I do next day shipping and anything I sell on the weekend has shipped by Monday. I think it would depend on the last pick up of things dropped in the box. My PO has a self-service machine. I don't print my labels at home. When I sell something on the weekend, I drop it off over the weekend, so it goes out Monday morning. Would you be able to drop off on the weekend without disturbing your sleep? If an item sells, on Friday even through Sunday evening, Monday will be your ship by day. Weekends, even if the post office is open Saturday morning, do not count as a day. It sounds like you drop your items off after the PO is closed, so a Friday evening sale would be able to be dropped off Sunday anytime to ensure a Monday scan, if that is doable for you. If not, maybe consider a two day ship time, so packages dropped off Monday evening, and scanned Tuesday, wouldn't get a ding. Hope this helps!

I also couldn't access my scheduled listing during that hour (I went to try edit it and the title was blank and when I clicked the link I got a page couldn't be found). Please review all photos" ... if the item has something wrong with it I add (after great condition) "EXCEPT there is (describe any flaws/issues). if the item is not in great condition because it's well used then I don't use the words great condition I use "good condition" . I will not sell some thing that I can't say is in at least good condition it's not worth it to risk getting negative feedback and returns. if a size on a pair of pants says 34 inches and I measure it and it's 30.5 inches I use the 30.5 inches in the description in parentheses after the size on the tag because it might be jeans that sits low on the hips that end up being 34 inches due to the style. but I just feel like it kind of covers us as a seller to be as transparent as possible. I take a lot of photos and I play a measuring tape on all clothing items and measure shoulders chest sleeves if it looks like it's a little stretched out at the bottom if it's a T-shirt I measure the bottom of it and the length on the back from the bottom of the collar to the bottom edge. it's a lot to do but I get very few returns like only a couple year. granted I'm not a big seller but that's what makes it so important is I can't afford to have a bunch of returns because I am such a small seller.

    I have question about coupons on eBay. A couple weeks ago I finally had someone use one, but in doing so, it raised a concern. My top rated sales amount reflects the purchase price minus the coupon amount. HOWEVER, when I look at the paid and shipped sales amount, it reflects the price before the coupon was applied. While these two often don't match, I am pretty certain it is the latter that appears on the tax form. I am not concerned about having to pay tax on one coupon that was used, but if I were having to pay taxes every year on thousands of dollars of income that I didn't actually get, that would be an issue. Do you know if this is the case?

    Plus selling alcohol on eBay is a FELONY. Not worth it.

    Not that it happens often but once in a while we will pick up electronics that don't end up working and cannot be returned. Can you write that off from your final profit come tax time?

      Yes, the purchase price is likely tax deductable, but consult with a CPA first!

    What do you do when a buyer harasses you that you have falsely advertised your product BUT in fact your advertising was entirely accurate? Like of you listed a part and it’s compatible appliance yet they threaten you about it?

      I guess I should add they then requested a return and it was granted but then threatened “to take it up with eBay”

      You can add them to your blocked bidder list. They should no longer be able to message you through eBay.

    Hi Justin, I'm about in tears with this shipping delimma. I see Thousands of people selling Tiny jewelry for $3-$5 with Free shipping and I can't get my shipping cost for under the Advantage rate of $4.31-8.90 per small package! I tried to send both 1st class envelope and more expensive Large 1st. Class envelope BUT my Post Office says NO NOT ALLOWED, due to it not being Completely Flat and uniform with a tiny 1/4" rise or barely even that much. Plus shipping that way i dont get a Tracking number either. And eBay won't generate a Shipping label for anything below the Advantage Rate. The Post Office has a chart and they say eBay is Wrong! How are these Thousands of people shipping these low cost items with Free shipping? And how can I ship my Tiny low cost items like rings, earrings, chains and pendants that I sell for $7.50 - $12.50? I was about to Cry today after leaving the Post Office 😢

      Ima noob but it could be they have a higher band of shipping. Aus post has 5 bands. I think you have to send a certain amount of items to reach higher bands.

      Chinese sellers by chance? They can ship for pennies to us, it's a very unfair advantage they have over the USA sellers. Plus Ebay pushes their Chinese sellers as they make them huge $$$$.
      Also possible drop shippers who are ordering straight from Temu, Alibaba, DH Gate, etc., and shipping to you.
      Just some guesses.

    My current Sell rate is 57%
    I follow a lot of ebyers over 10k listings and 100 sold in 90 days what’s the point especially 10$ items

    This is kind of off subject, but can anyone explain to me why when someone sends you an offer on your item, and you counter offer with one or two dollars more, they send a counter offer for five dollars LESS than their first offer. It is so juvenile. Is there any real reason they would do something that dumb?

    If your item fails authentication or if they can't determine authenticity, you will get a defect on your account.

    +10 under promise, over deliver. When I get feedback on condition, it's always "much nicer than described". Thats my goal. I price things where I make a good profit, and I like it when I delight buyers. This is feedback I got yesterday "Way cool. Very nice. Very well organized and packaged. Way nicer than expected. Great Seller. A+++++"

    13:02 when I do research on eBay or open a pop-up when I'm looking at Facebook they have those Amazon product pop-ups anytime I look at anything than in my social feeds I start getting advertising for the things that I was looking at so I think that the information at this point is being sold to so many third parties that there's no getting out of them then advertising and sending us offers it's crazy how deep that rabbit hole goes 😅
