PS one version pushed the hardware to its absolute limits
Probably as evidenced by how Driver 2 struggled on PS1
I never noticed those NPCs sitting down at picnic tables tapping their feet in the PC version before.
Driver 1 and 2 deserve a remaster like the classic Tomb Raider trilogy, I hope that one day Ubisoft brings this franchise back.
I'm happy that era of different versions between consoles and PC is over
I'm really glad they made the brenches destructibles on the PC, given it avoids unnecessary frustration. BTW: there are two things that are at least for to mention (could even make it into another video, that is as long as you make a 2nd part XD XD)
1)PC version includes the "In hood" camera
2)Director mode allows more camera modes for cops. In the PS1 version you could only set 1st person camera to the cops (in Driver 2 this was fixed)
There will be a second part. :)
Just a small thing I noticed; pressing both brake and handbrake give you the shortest braking distance in PS1 version but in PC version, if you pressed both, only handbrakes will be applied.
The car alarms are just random pitch
there are few things PS1 did better than the PC version. Maybe you have already ideas for a video. Great Video as always. I love Driver... both PS1 and PC. In my memory PC was easier in Undercover Missions
I noted some ideas yes but i still listen to people suggestions. :)
The last one was the "Freight Train" cheat on the PC. As a kid, it was a blast flying through the cities with no worries while watching all the carnage.
Still have my pc copy of Driver. The memories of playing and beating it with my dad still are strong. Now I want to try the pc version
I generally preffer look of player cars and cities on ps1, but i have quite alot of nostlagia for PC version and Miami car especially. I think mix of best from both would be ultimate Driver 1. PS1 looks more pretty like stylized ps1/n64 games, PC kind of looks worse for extra resolution and draw distance and some of the texture work is just plain worse than PS1 and it tends to look somewhat basic at times.

*TRAFFIC CHECK* ★ ★ ★
I had the gameshark and playing in newcastle was the best!
I have both versions but I finished only PS1 version.
Nice driving son.
pc back for revenge eyyy
This is a small difference, one of the traffic car horn sounds is slightly different in the PC version.
I also heard that you can choose different vehicles in any of the cities on PC as well without any gameshark codes
You could easily change the car in the mission script for each and every mission. Had some runs on the PC version with only the police car 😂
oh yeah and that too @@granfury1238
There are understandable differences, like the draw distance, but old games sometimes had differences between versions that doesn't really make sense. In this case: Miami player car being totally different. Why?
These were a thing until around the PS3 generation games. I never undestood those.
driver 1 pc its only game i have ever seen that taxi have 2 doors :D
Doors are overrated anyway :D
I wish there was a mod that mixed both versions! Both have very interesting differences. PC has more content, but I like PS1's content more
The PC version also has a feature I sorely wish it was on PS1 - you can choose your car in Take Your Ride mode (after beating the game of course), and if I remember this correctly (correct me if I'm wrong) in Undercover mode in certain moments. Heck, for Take Your Ride you could even choose the default car from another city! On PS1, well, you must input GameShark code, and even then, the car selection is limited.
You are right. :)
Yeah, it's so frustrating not being able to choose car in the ps1 version
Shame that they didn't make Driver2 PC!
The car selection mode in Take A Ride only available on the PC right? I don't remember I can't select car after selecting City in PS1.
Yep, unless you use gameshark codes.
There's one more thing that PC are better then PS1 is the police lights when flashing 🙂
PC version is much better at the important bits imo like general graphics and especially draw distance. It's the first game I've played properly and finished so it's very close to my heart.
Can you give link of PS one version please ?
The only thing I dislike from the PC version is the car models, some of them look worse in my opinion.
seems like PC version is better in many ways. when i was a kid i downloaded it once and saw the PC miami car be all ugly and stopped playing.
The PC version has notable visual differences, but as gameplay is an important factor for me, my point goes to the PS1 version. I feel more in control of evasive maneuvers and agility with the car and a fixed axis camera, more than in the PC version, where camera movement affects gameplay, exactly following the view behind the car, which makes it difficult to see what is in front, especially when going up bridges or hills, making it difficult to see the car ahead to avoid crashing.
Hot take: PS1 version had the better looking cars (not in terms of quality though, obviously).
but the ps1 had better graphics
The PC version looks ugly to me, the PS1 just looks better, I dont know if it's the proportion, art style the PC version is just off.
