Watching this on my exactly same generation MacBook which is kind of strange. Quite happy that I didn't have to do repairs to mine (yet). Nice fix & good video!
39:30 I cannot speak about that specific computer, but from my experience that does look like a result of previous rework using solder paste. Just another example of a limitation of using solder paste to rework a densely populated PCB with very small components. EDIT: And yes... even ECM's employ initial rework processing during manufacturing runs.
Try fixing an iMac G5.... MacBook pro is nothing compared to the G5. But yes most Macintosh computers are a real pain to fix. Most pc computers are able to replace processors while a Macintosh you have to resolder components. They use alot of screws and alot of glue when it comes to the screen. Also every Macintosh model uses new plug-ins, new set ups and new logic board design making it next to impossible to modify, update or upgrade new logic boards and new processors..... The new Macintoshs have changed everything, from no optical disk to no usb ports. If your a music producer you have to buy a usb adapter to connect it to the mac and most adapters only have 3 plug ins.... Which doesn't leave you with much to work with, maybe a midi keyboard and a mixer or an audio interface.
Hmmm... you could have put something in the closed machine between the keyboard and the display so that all the things you brush off don't fall on the display :) Would have made your life easier a bit :D

Nice video, I would like to see a video about your lab setup, looks very impressive.
Where do you get the a Hamitic seems for mac Logic boards
If you thought that was a pain, You should try the macbook air keyboard assembly..
Lots of punched-in studs that need to be levered out..
Hi! I think I saw one of Louis Rossmanns videos about those - these things are evil. I hope I will never get one of these :-) .
Hast du das gute 3M 9448HKB benutzt ? :D Apple ? Bestimmt der SMC kaputt. :D
Maybe the drink was hot enough to melt the solder and produce the little balls?
After watching this I'am never gonna work on a mac book. Seems like APPLE don't want anyone to be able to repair them.

Great 👌
Thank you... You saved my power on button spring... :)
"have no idea about what it was" - ask Rossmann :)
Yeah. I think he actually did a video about replacing that exact capacitor.
You are awesome.
I think I’ll buy the iPad Pro rather than repairing my old MacBook Pro’s defective keyboard
Faster replacement
