Hi. Watched your video. Used your method and managed to revive my laptop... stoked as it was a gift from my husband and was hardly used still- not even a year old yet.
Thank you, this video helped relieve a lot of stress. I spilled coffee on my wife’s Mac. To be more specific, I spilled it on the table but the coffee flowed right into the air vents. Picked it up, turned it over and coffee was just dripping out. Let it dry and it would not turn on. Light was dim on charger and would also start blinking yellow green. if I tried to power it on. I followed the instructions on the video and I was able to restore it using the existing battery. Thanks once again!
You literally just saved me $1200 from the Apple Store or $615 at a local Mac repair shop. Damn. I feel like I at least owe you lunch. Thanks a million
+Anesu Chimkupete it is but I replaced the logic board at a local shop for $580. It went back to randomly restarting a day after cleaning so I figured I'd spend the money
LyrixandLicks302 I have a MacBook Pro that just got soda spilled onto it but I haven't attempted this since I don't have the screw driver to open it, I have another mac (MacBook Air) that also got soda spilled onto it, I took it to Apple and once they looked at the damage they said it would be 900 to repair (which is the exact amount it costs to buy a new one) I ended up taking it home, months later I randomly had an idea to try to start it and well it worked! Although it needs to stay connected to the charger for it to stay on otherwise it turns off as soon as it is disconnected. I really wish I can fix my MacBook Pro though, I have very important data on it. :c
Rey Arias your message is 4months old so I don't know if this will help you but the info is just on your hard drive so you most likely have not lost it. Also, you can easily replace the battery and have it working without the power cord. If you don't know how to do it, just look it up online. There are many videos and articles showing how to do it. Hope this helps you. Have a good one :)
Great great video. Thanks so much. Apple Store quoted $1200.00 to replace my logic board just for one small corrosion spot from minimal water damage. I was having a problem with it restarting itself randomly at times. I'm cracking this baby open and cleaning.
Well done video thanks for sharing. After a water spill the corrosion on the mother board was severe and I tried to clean it. Unfortunately the tooth brush broke a capacitor. Bought a new logic board and still no power on. In the end it was the DC in board that was preventing boot up even though the charge light was green. Battery or not even disconnected it wouldn't boot. Replaced the DC in and worked straight off.
+Louis Rossmann Anyway to get into contact with you? I got a mb pro 13" retina - where it starts up for a minute then just drops off.. Light on the magsafe turns from green to red even without the battery connected. And without the battery it wont boot at all.. Cleaned the mobo but no diffrence? Thx
I found your instruction very informative and probably the best overall quality of about 25-30 others I have wasted time on. Very thorough while keeping it under 15 min, only focusing on the specific details related to the task. I wasn't aware that this model would still work without a battery, while on a charger. Thanks!
Spilled some cereal on my laptop, wouldn't turn on. Eventually decided to try it myself since it's an oldie. Well, it bloody worked. Thanks so much for the video!
I took my macbook 2009 to get looked at, it got nail polish remover on the keyboard and the screen stopped turning on even tho the charger was green. They said it damaged the motherboard and might cost 500 to fix. Then the only person that worked on mac products quit, so no one could fix it. So they told us to pick it up. So we took it home. So I found this video and looked aty macbook and they had a loose screw inside the macbook and had components loose and not connected inside. It made me upset. Also it looks like they tore off a piece which is now broken when it wasn't before. The piece they broke was near what you were messing with at 13:08 Should I ignore what they did or should they be held accountable for messing it up further?
my mac did have a spill on it and i did everything in your video and when i unplugged the battery my computer and plugged in the charger it came on so i ordered a new battery and when i plugged the battery in and tried to charge it the light didn't come on on the charger and the computer will not turn on either. but if i unplug the battery from inside the computer and plug the charger in the computer works. it just doesn't work when the battery is plugged in. please help your video is the best one out there and very informative. thanks for your time!!
Wow thank you so much, I followed your instructions when my MacBook Pro died after a coffee spill, one toothbrush and a little bit of window cleaner later......and bingo my MacBook Pro works again 😀thanks again
Thanks for video! Also had a spill, turned it around to have the coffee drip out. 2017 macbook pro 13". there is a coffee stain mark on the back of the mac screen which i want to clean up. any tutorial on this please?

Okay so two days ago I spilt a little bit of water on my MacBook Pro, my computer will still turn on it has power, it's just after turning it on each time the screen will go fuzzy and black after 5-10 minutes, will this method still work?
what is the white thing on the side where the CD goes in and how do you get rid of water damage there? // is it neccessary to get rid of there or will the mac come on anyways?
hey, i spilt water on my keyboard 2 days ago on my macbook air so i turned it off for two days, and now it won’t turn on at all but the charger plugs in and works fine (led light is on), do u recommend this method to see if it can be saved or not? thanks
Awesome! I got my computer to turn back on after year of thinking it was a lost cause. One question tho, after cleaning the board, everything seems to be working fine now buuut while using the computer after a few minutes of working a task like going on the web, it heats up slightly and then shuts off. Almost seems like it overloads the computer with any heat. Any clue on what that could be?
Would it be the same technique with nail polish remover (non-acetone) spillage? Keys don't work well but otherwise still a good laptop, because of the keys not working properly I use an extension keyboard which works well.
I have a mac air a1466 model. They spill coffee on the it. The screen is black, but if you use a flash light you could see the image. I think the backlight is the problem. Any suggestions on getting this fixed or what part my need replacement?
Hi Adamant IT, spilled Coke Zero on my keyboard of my pro last night. Turned it upside down and dried for a few hours (it was powering on and working fine) before taking the back panel off. Saw Coke drops under the battery but nowhere else so far. Took out the hard drive too but just realized I don't have the star screwdriver to pop out the logic board. Don't see any visible damage though. Should I get the screwdriver and keep going or leave the system as is?
i spilt tea on my macbook pro about a year ago do you think this could work? the battery checker on the side says full power but it still will not turn on
Sooo... found 2 replacement capacitors that exploded on CPU vcore but the mosfets right behind them have no markings anywhere 😭😭 how am I supposed to fix this MOBO???? ASRock 970m pro 3 Oh yeah and informative video as always!! Thanks
Ok question, was it only the battery? I mean I’m sure the cleaning helped but could the fix have just been the battery? I know it’s an old post but my wife recently spilled a little pop on hers and I would love to be able to save a trip to the Apple store/geek squad and save some money, hers turns on after a few tries but it’s slow as hell!
Thank you very much for your useful video. I have plugged in the charger without connecting the battery, and there is green light. I thought this was great but then I could not switch the computer on. There is still a black screen. Any advice as to what I should do??
Hi Thanks for the video, I did exactly the same didn't find really any sign of liquid on the moboard but cleaned and when I plug the power it goes green then orange, I can hear the HD working but not the fan, and nothing on the screen. Any idea what I can do next?
Hi there, I went to purchase a screwdriver kit from ifixit but loving in Australia they wanted to charge 3 times the price just for postage? Do you know of any alternatives that might be a bit cheaper but still good quality?
Mines a MacBook pro 2015 and the power button is fail from spilled drink and no CD player and it has a bad smell. Praying I can fix it but if the small does not go away I may need to replace or pay for the part
Hey Adamant IT, I just watched your video which rased hope in me that I can fix my MacBook alone. One week ago I spilled wine on my brand new McBook Retina 2015 (2 months old) a glass of wine. I let it dry for 5 days and than I went to Apple Store, they told me that there is a liquid on the Board, Hardware, Screen etc, so it would cost 1 200 €, which is nonsense considering that i bought it for 1 400 €. What drove me crazy was that fact they told me I need a new screen, but they even didn´t tried if it works, turned out it actually works. Upset and completely lost trust in Apple I started looking for other options. What do I loose at the end, my Mac doesn´t work anyway, so I eyther fix it alone or buy a new one. So my question is, wine damage could be cleaned just the same way you did fix the water damage on this Mac, couldn´t it? Can you give me some advice, I really need to save that laptop, I was savig money for two years, so I can afford it...
After clean my MacBook Pro is not working.. speaker wire is not connected.. so that’s pin is broken.. Can the system be turned on without plugging in the speaker wire? plz help me out 🙏🏼
I spilled a very tiny amount of water on the right side of my keyboard. The return key and a few of the buttons won't work. Any recommendations sir? In the meantime I've connected a wireless keyboard.
I took it to the apple store three weeks ago and they opened it. They sent me pictures of where the liquid have reached and I think it reached the logic board. However, it works totally fine and it only says for the battery "replace now". That's why it needs to be plugged in order for it to work. Do you think I need to replace the logic board?
Hi Adamant IT! I just spilled monster energy drink on my macbook pro. When it happened, the laptop turned off about 2 secs later. I quickly cleaned up the liquid off the the laptop and let it dry. I then was able to turn the laptop in and it was working fine with no problems. After a while I put my plugged my laptop charger in and i noticed that it was not charging. At first the charger had its normal orange light but it would not charge. After a while, the light went out completely and the laptop would not charge at all. What do u think the problem is? Would cleaning the inside help? Or will i need a new battery maybe? Thank you for your time.
Your motherboard is damaged, try what Adam did in his video or else u have to go to the apple store and they will replace it with a new one ,still you have to pay nearly 700$!!
Hi the macbook my sister owns got flooded can you send any tips or how to fix it we charged it and we turned it on but didnt really work too good now it wont turn on please help me😢😥
Hi, thanks for the video. I think some dirty water spilled and bounced off my desk into my usb ports. Since then the message that the USB devices Disabled error message keeps coming up. The ports don't work so can't use any usb devices. Apple Genius condemned it today. They say you can't get parts to replace old USB ports like that. Can we fix them ourselves? Do you have a video showing how to just clean them? thank you in advance.
Hello thank you for your video I recently spilled water on my computer and tried to power it back on it was plugged in and once I unplugged it it powered off I'm wondering if trying to power back on has caused any more damage that couldn't be fixed with the toothbrush and glass cleaner technique let me know or is it worth giving it a try I hope so because your Technique seemed pretty straightforward anyways thank you
First step is to take the back cover off and use a paper towel to make sure there's no standing liquid. Once you're sure it's dry, you may as well plug it in and try turning it on - if there's no liquid, it's not going to break any more than it already has done. If it doens't come good, then start attempting repairs.
My macbook pro had a water spill and the Geek squad guy suggested and i open the back panel and keep it near a heater so the water can evaporate. . i did so. And the laptop got pretty hot as well, since heat was on max. After cooling down, it still will not turn on or charge. Did I do something wrong?
So I had my MacBook and lemonade spilled ALL over the keyboard. And then the screen turned off immediately. I didn’t touch it at all though. I just left it and then i tried to charge it. Nothing showed. And then in the middle of the night I heard the sound when it’s turning on but the screen was dark. They keyboard started lighting up and everything started working but no screen just black. I’m not good with these things so I’m scared to even try and fix it. Any easy methods that don’t have to do with taking off any peices of the electronic?
I have an A1502. Opened it and cleaned it and it would charge. However I let it charge over night and now it won't charge. It would not turn on either. What should I do?
So my mom has a 2009 MacBook which she spilled coffee on around 2011 and the apple store told her it’s probably fried what is that supposed to mean and how could I fix it and can I fix it?
Hi Adam, My daughter spilled water on a week old macbook pro dec 2015. Apple said the water indicator did not show up however quoted over £1000 to replace. I have just now taken it to a local computer store and they have said the logic board showed signs of a lot of water damage and quoted £645 to replace. Do you think I should try this method before agreeing to a new logic board..? Thank you for a fantastic video by the way..
hello again! i opened up the A1502, disconnected the battery, plugged it in, but the small light still flashes the orange/amber light. its possible that the battery has to stay connected to further troubleshoot. this video i want to watch a couple of times. thanks again, it might also be the adaptor (magsafe to magsafe2) that might not be functioning properly. thanks that alcohol youre using, does it have a small amount of regular ammonia added?
Hi so I spilled some tea on my mac and I immedietly turned it over and started getting rid of all the external liquid. I turned it upside down and powered it off. By accident I started up the boot up process a bit later but immedietly powered it off before it officially was on. There wasnt that much tea spilled on it, wasnt a complete cup or anything but im pretty sure some liquid seeped through the keyboard. So my question is what kind of damage I can expect, even if there arent immediate problems is it guaranteed im screwed down the road? I set up a genius appointment to inspect the damage so hopefully thatll give me some clues
Adamant IT Hi so I booted it up and it still works perfectly. At first there was a bit of stickiness on a couple keys but that soon went away after use. So should I still be worried, is there a reason to expect more serious damage in the coming days? Thank you so much for your help
Adamant IT yes I spilled milk on my Keyboard and the Apple Store said the batteries, logic board, and hard drive needed to be replaced so I'm assuming that's where most of the damage is. I know you only cleaned your logic board but would this same method work for the battery?
Adamant IT basically when the milk spilled, the computer automatically turned off. I made the idiot move of turning it back on, but when I did I got a black screen with a file with a question mark on it. Does that mean the hard drive is damaged?
I spilled water on my Macbook air keyboard a few days ago. Everything seems to be working fine except my screen is completely blank. What should I do ?
Is there a switch for the screen? A few days ago I spilled some water over my MacBook. Now the screen is turning on and off automatically. Like it is going to sleep and after 1 second it is waking up.
I can't find it... I have a macbook pro late 2011 17 inch. This computer looks a bit different from the inside. I have send you an email with the picture of the inside.
Spilled milk on top of keyboard. Cleaned it off, before turning it off. Turned it off, turned it back on. Worked fine for a little while. Then, the command and shift keys started to turn "on". I restarted it, but it booted into safe mode since shift was constantly being held. Webpages had pieces missing, couldn't see what was in Google search bar. Turned off, isn't turning back on. Help!
@@Adamant_IT I left it upside down with a fan blowing on it all night. It turned on and is working 100%! Is this fix permanent or can the symptoms come back?
I spilled a glass of water on my mac book. I let it dry for about a week then when I plugged my charger in there was a faint orange light so I unplugged it and tried 2 days later and it charged well but the light remains green and somehow the laptop won't turn on 😪 help please
Hi I just wanna ask, if do I need to still clean my laptop eventhough its working fine now? I spilled some water and I let it dry for 4 days with electric fan before turning it on. Can I use it just fine or do I still need to open it up and clean because I'm scared if i opened it up and then wont work huhu. Please reply. THANK YOU.
Hey man, I have a Mbp late 2011 with a motherboard issue. It doesn't recognise any battery but it runs well on charge (just a little bit slower). In the repair shop they told me they have to replace the logic board completely, which I think is not that damaged to get replaced, because they saw some liquid spill damages. I haven't "washed" it with alcohol and brush yet, but I noticed there's a small bump next to the battery connector like a fried chip (or component, dunno). You got any ideas please? Is there a mail or site I can send you a photo of my motherboard so I can get a tip. I don't have money for 500$ new board, so any help is appreciated. Thank you! :)
so all it took was disconnecting the battery and starting it up. So just resetting the SMC worked. I'm having trouble with my early 2015 macbook air. Liquid damage (Dr. Pepper). I disconnected the battery to reset the smc, plug into power with disconnected battery, it started right up. Then connect the battery and it either would start up once but I think it wouldn't start up, I can't exactly remember. I replaced the track pad connector and that seemed to solve everything and it worked perfectly fine as normal. After a plane ride, I had to connect to power (with battery connected) in order to turn my computer on. Now after a few days after the plane ride, the charger indicator light doesn't show any color, can't turn the computer on with or without battery connected. I'll try scrubbing the Logic/Mother Board with isopropyl and tooth brush. tbh, my logic board looks horendous. Spilt Dr. Pepper on it 4 years ago on the keyboard. It still worked fine ever since except for the track pad and keyboard for those years but I had to use a wireless USB mouse and keyboard. The laptop keyboard worked rarely, just here and there. I just don't want to pay 1k for a new computer which is what one computer repair guy told me I'd have to do when I told him I spilt Dr. Pepper on part of the keyboard 4 years ago. Good luck to everyone else with DIY! You got this! Don't give up! Watch more TH-cam! Soon enough you'll be able to watch TH-cam on your Mac!
So I had the problem of corrosion however my laptop still turned on and worked but it would not conduct to wifi, I went to apple and the quoted me the extreme price as usually. So I watched the video ad followed the steps however after I was finished my laptop never turned back on... Did I do something wrong is it damaged I'm afraid. The green light turns on at the charge port and it also turn orange does anyone have any suggestions ?

Your motherboard is damaged, try what Adam did in his video or else u have to go to the apple store and they will replace it with a new one ,still you have to pay nearly 700$!!
what screwdrivers do you need to remove the battery pack screws and the trackpad
Hi the macbook my sister owns got flooded can you send any tips or how to fix it we charged it and we turned it on but didnt really work too good now it wont turn on please help me😢😥
Thank you Sir!
This was really helpful..
@@Adamant_IT are there ever times where you have to re solder it
My macbook pro had a water spill and the Geek squad guy suggested and i open the back panel and keep it near a heater so the water can evaporate. . i did so. And the laptop got pretty hot as well, since heat was on max. After cooling down, it still will not turn on or charge. Did I do something wrong?
very nice video mate good job
Can we use surgical isopropyl alcohol? Please reply...
What and where did you get the little tool from?? I'm wanting to try this soon.
I have an A1502. Opened it and cleaned it and it would charge. However I let it charge over night and now it won't charge. It would not turn on either. What should I do?
Hello , My MacBook is still turning on after spilling beer on it but it immediately turns off after login screen...Any suggestion on how to fix it ?
BLVCK REFLECTION ENT. What you end up doing
So just having water damage isnt enough to replace to logic board?
what tool did he use to take out the cooling fan screws?
Yes absolutely try it, you have nothing to lose
hello again! i opened up the A1502, disconnected the battery, plugged it in, but the small light still flashes the orange/amber light. its possible that the battery has to stay connected to further troubleshoot. this video i want to watch a couple of times. thanks again, it might also be the adaptor (magsafe to magsafe2) that might not be functioning properly. thanks
that alcohol youre using, does it have a small amount of regular ammonia added?
It's Isopropyl Alcohol, best to buy the higher quality stuff from an electronics shop if you can....
getl0st that sounds right. thank you
Nice to know it was the battery! 😧👍🏼
Will this also work for MacBook Air? Also, do you know if my hard drive could be repaired in such a method?
Adamant IT yes I spilled milk on my Keyboard and the Apple Store said the batteries, logic board, and hard drive needed to be replaced so I'm assuming that's where most of the damage is. I know you only cleaned your logic board but would this same method work for the battery?
Adamant IT basically when the milk spilled, the computer automatically turned off. I made the idiot move of turning it back on, but when I did I got a black screen with a file with a question mark on it. Does that mean the hard drive is damaged?
Adamant IT What's the likelihood that cleaning it will get the laptop up and running as well as the computer finding the HDD
I spilled water on my Macbook air keyboard a few days ago. Everything seems to be working fine except my screen is completely blank. What should I do ?
Hi I spilled water on my MacBook Pro Retina and now the screen won't turn on but it still work do you have a solution ?
Is there a switch for the screen? A few days ago I spilled some water over my MacBook. Now the screen is turning on and off automatically. Like it is going to sleep and after 1 second it is waking up.
I can't find it... I have a macbook pro late 2011 17 inch. This computer looks a bit different from the inside.
I can't find it... I have a macbook pro late 2011 17 inch. This computer looks a bit different from the inside. I have send you an email with the picture of the inside.
What window cleaner did you use ? Is there any recommendations on cleaning fluid to use ?
Get Isopropyl Alcohol if you can, but if you're going for house-hold stuff, any vinegar-based glass clear is passable.
@@Adamant_IT thank you
Thank you for this. It worked ❤️
Does this work on MacBook Air too?
Spilled milk on top of keyboard. Cleaned it off, before turning it off. Turned it off, turned it back on. Worked fine for a little while. Then, the command and shift keys started to turn "on". I restarted it, but it booted into safe mode since shift was constantly being held. Webpages had pieces missing, couldn't see what was in Google search bar. Turned off, isn't turning back on. Help!
@@Adamant_IT I left it upside down with a fan blowing on it all night. It turned on and is working 100%! Is this fix permanent or can the symptoms come back?
Can I use spirit instead of isopropyl alcohol?
Can i know where i can find someone that would fix my mac in Rhode island please answer me ty it have the same issue
THANK YOU.
+Adamant IT Okaay ill just inspect the back part. Thank you so much God Bless :D
would this method still work after a week and a half?
Thank you! :)
Thank you, I did send two high-res on the given mail. :)
what is all the screwa you uses?
Got a Sub as you didn't just clean it, you also trouble shoot it. But why didn't you clean the keyboard and keys?
GOD BLESS YOU SIR!! SAVED MY LIFE!
so all it took was disconnecting the battery and starting it up. Soon enough you'll be able to watch TH-cam on your Mac!
great video helped me out a lot.
Just to add... When the laptop is plugged in the charger shows green and then turns to orange.. Thank you
So I had the problem of corrosion however my laptop still turned on and worked but it would not conduct to wifi, I went to apple and the quoted me the extreme price as usually. So I watched the video ad followed the steps however after I was finished my laptop never turned back on... Did I do something wrong is it damaged I'm afraid. The green light turns on at the charge port and it also turn orange does anyone have any suggestions ?
The charger light is dim for me a lot and nothing bat happens
I bought mac book pro m1 2 month ago. Got damaged due to liquid. And took it to apple and got quoted $2700 while the brand new one is $2199. Please do help me.
