  • It’s time to repot Oncidium Sharry Baby. Onc Sharry Baby is a vigorous and easy grower for me. Her blooms smell like chocolate 🍫
    I decided to repot her in a much bigger pot with moss. And this time I chose a plastic pot.
    Happy growing. 💜

    Looking great Danni! I repotted a sharry baby earlier this year like this and after 4 hours trying to get the medium off, I hacked off so many roots to get the medium off. You were so gentle. It was a nightmare because it was in small grade bark.
    Can't wait to see the blooms this gives you!

      Hey there! So sorry for such a late reply. Yes, just that tiny bit of moss I tried taking off I snapped three roots. They are so brittle. I bet with the small bark it was a nightmare for you! Hope you have a great night. Happy growing. 💜

    What a root system on that Oncidium. Yes, the spotting is normal and I too think most oncidiums have brittle roots. I love a non fussy orchid grower when it comes to repotting. I think it was wise not to disturb that root system. Great growing Danni.

    That was a huge root ball it had formed. I have never seen that on a orchid. I think if you had let it continue to grow in that pot for another year you would have had to break the pot to get it out.

    Huge Sharry Baby. Yes the leaves sometimes developed those spots unfortunately like you mentioned. But those blooms have a fragrance like no other.

    How do you water when it's just moss? Do you soak it or just make sure there's enough to be moist?

    Do you recommend moss over bark-type medium?

  • @Harphoney

    Can Sharri baby be potted in bark? Mines in bark and seems happy but has not yet given any spikes. I ordered her this past fall. There are 2 pseudo bulbs that have nothing on the tops, I’ve chosen to leave them as they seem healthy. What do think about all of this? It’s my first Sharri Baby orchid. ❤

      Congrats on your first orchid! Most certainly can be potted up in bark. It will just require watering more often. And yes! Absolutely leave healthy bulbs even when they don’t have any leaves on them. Sounds like your doing great. Happy growing. 💜

    Would your use lava rock or peat gravel for Sherry baby?

    • @dannisorchidjourney
      @dannisorchidjourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there! Thanks for the question. I wouldn’t use anything but moss because it’s a heavy drinker and like to stay mostly moist. They do not like to dry out. So moss is the best option. Now I like using lava rock for my Catt/ Brassavola hybrids. Hope this helps. Happy growing. 💜
