You have come out of such hard situations in life and its trully inspiring to believe in having that aw for life again. YUBA IS SO TASTY! And you can buy it dried at different Asian markets, and you can rehydrate it and fry it (like a breaded cutlet) and it’s amazing at texture
@@KingKogi OHHH!! Now that you describe it this way, I realize that I've had it from Chinese supermarkets, literally translated as "tofu skin." It is 💯 but I had no idea there was a hot pot version available (which makes sense, given how it's made) ✨
Lol there used to be a mama moose that brought her babies to scratch on the swing set in my dads backyard, the thing was like 10ft tall and the babies would reach the top of the A-frame...massive things!

I highly recommend a Hakka Chinese dish. It's basically pieces of tofu with a slit filled with herbed minced pork, and then pan-fried on both sides in a soy-based sauce...🤤🤤🤤 Best tofu I've ever had!

My favorite way to prepare tofu is to freeze it, thaw it and then press all the water out of it. The ice makes it expand a little bit and creates a more spongy tofu. Then I bake it instead of frying it. It literally soaks up sauce like a sponge.
Such a neat tip, thank you so much. I currently have two tubes of Korean, soft tofu in the freezer, didn’t get the chance to eat them.

I am so ready for an adventure in tofu land!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this video. My favorite part of the meal you shared was the bubbling sounds! It was so relaxing and somewhat like the sound of a witches brew bubbling. And then you said the soy milk skin was yuba, and I thought is that the same as the name of the witch in Spirited Away? Yuba? no ... memory kicked in, its Yubaba.Also The streets were delightful and the title thumbnail was a joy. And the AIRSHIP at the end!!!!! So many feels, so much joy. Thank you Martina! I love all kinds of tofu and make many recipes at home. Yes, it can be bland, but if you know how to treat it, it's amazing! Mapo Tofu and sesame deep fried tofu are my favorites! I also love inari sushi!

I miss tofu SO MUCH 😭I recently found out that soy was part of what was making me sick and dang do I miss delicious, silky tofu. Haven't found anything quite like it. This restaurant looks amazing!!! I've never had yuba before so I'm so curious about the texture!

My favorite tofu is Inari sushi. SOOOO GOOD!!!
That yuba looks super tasty (definitely a patience test 😅)! What was the dipping sauce for the yuba?
For those who don’t have a source for fresh tofu it’s pretty easy to make. So much better than the typical mass produced stuff. You just need fresh soy milk (store bought works; not sure if shelf stable does), and a coagulant (can order online). You can use a colander for a mold, and paper towels if you don’t have cheesecloth. Heat, add coagulant and let it hang out for a bit, then scoop the curds into the cloth lined mold and wrap/compress. Usually a super gentle soak/wash stage is needed to debitter it (depends on the coagulant) as well. Can eat it fresh or chill to let it set more.

YESSSSS. I'm not much of an adventurous eater and am super squicky about seafood (I still eat meat) but if tofu is on the menu or a protein option, I'm getting it. I cook with it all the time. This place is seems AMAZING. Maybe there's hope for me after all if ever I find myself in Japan! 🥰

I love tofu. My favorite way to make it is fried up with some chili oil drizzled on top but honestly you are so right when you say most tofu haters just haven't had it prepared properly.

My mother in law once told me when I was cooking Tofu, “what is that? Tofu? Ew” I didn’t know the stereotype of thoughts about Tofu among Americans so I was actually shocked. My husband and kids love Tofu.
