You are so great at putting outfits together. May I suggest something in the nicest possible way with the intent of constructive criticism? You need to have a color analysis done. That yellow sweater is not a good color for your skin tone. It’s amazing what color can do to elevate any look IF it’s the right color for you. All the best!
Yes, women always love to come and tell me what colors to wear or not wear. I definitely know the rules but am never afraid to break them. I wear mustard often and can you believe it? Receive many compliments. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
I had a seasonal color analysis and the results have upped my game! I get more compliments on how great I look not on how great a piece of clothing looks! Once you see the difference you can’t unsee it! But it is not for everybody but it a great suggestion!
I've gotten so much inspiration from your videos. I know you've featured faux leather, but I'd love to see you put together a couple outfits specifically using a black, faux leather blazer. I'd also like to see you explore items from L.L. Bean. I've been a fan of theirs for years, and I especially love their button down blouses, pima cotton t-shirts, and anything flannel. Just a thought.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY ONE OF THE LOOKS YOU PULLED TOGETHER HERE - I'VE TWO SPECIAL LUNCH DATES WITH FRIENDS THIS WEEK AND HAVE NOW COMPLETELY REVISED THE OUTFITS THAT I'LL BE WEARING,THANKS TO YOU AND HOPEFULLY I'ILL BE LOOKING FAR MORE LAYERED AND A LOT MORE CHIC THANKS TO YOUR TERRIFIC TIPS AND TRICKS BTW MY LAPTOP CAPS LOCK KEY HAS JAMMMED (IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING)
For me, layering is about comfort first, then style. I love layering, but I overheat so easily, I need lightweight, breathable, natural-fiber layers. The rayon/lyocell/viscose family works almost as well as silk, but cotton knits, like tees, are too hot under wool or cashmere. Linen knits are great, too, but tend to be on the baggy side. Yesterday I wore a silk shirt, a cotton corduroy blazer, a leather skirt and knee-high boots and felt just right (all except the boots are new from Banana Republic, which is one of the very few American brands using natural fibers, in their linings, too, so I’ve been shopping there a lot this year).
Great video, Beth. Layering is essential in the Phoenix, AZ climate when we approach the end of October. I can't wait until cooler temperatures so I can wear my sweaters.
Love the outfits and appreciate the layering advice. Envious of your weather. Where I live we had 5 inches of snow yesterday and our high for the next couple of days will be -8 C with windchill of -19 so I’m afraid I will be adding a few more layers than might be considered fashionable 😊
I love these looks! They are functional yet really cute! I truly appreciate the focus on more casual looks, as for me, they are the most difficult to pull together. Thank you!
Loved the outfits at the end. And I just bought a black, navy and tan plaid blazer. Wore tan pants to a work event, then wore my black faux leather skirt with it to another event. Plan of wearing jeans and faux leather pants and the jacket all fall! It’s gray when you can get multiple outfits from one good piece.
I retired 2 years ago. Dressing for fall and winter can be tough. I prefer dresses with heels and do not like wear pants. Thanks for giving me a few ideas.
I just had a shopping spree in the states and while picking pieces I kept your video's in mind and came home with a nice haul I can't wait to wear. My best find was a dark olive green barn style jacket by Michael Kors on a TJX sales rack. 🙂
the source is JCrew and the link is found in the description box under the title of this video. If you're on your phone look for the word "more" and click on it and then find the word "more" again and all the links will be there. If you're on a computer there will be an upside down arrow to click instead.
❤love the monochromatic black outfit! Sharp and edgy! Love the brown and black outfit cute. The barn jacket is awesome. Love faux leather pants both black and brown
This was one of the nicest videos I've seen. Except for the faux leather they are all doable for me. Except I don't buy from J.Crew. a certain person with the initials MO ruined the brand for me. I'm sure they're are other comparable stores to find similar or better.
I am a bit confused. In a recent video about style choices to avoid, you suggested avoiding skinny jeans except those worn with knee high boots. However, both in that video and in this one, most of the pants worn by you are of the skinny type, with some more straight legged. I am 5'9"and very slim and I personally feel comfortable in any pants style except ankle length ("high waters" on me), so this is a general, not a personal question.
Knee-high boots look fresher than ankle boots with skirts and dresses, and the very long cardigans, like your nice beige one here, are a lot more modern-looking than granny cardigans.

Those long, tunic-length sweaters/tops are always going to be frumpy and aging, regardless of how they’re worn or the trends. They create a brick-like shape, not a feminine one. Especially those thick and bulky ones! I only wear cropped, classic-fit sweaters, which cover my waistband because I’m short, or thin sweaters that I can tuck in. I have three longer (upper thigh) cardigans for at home, but mostly wear them on days when I’m not feeling up to going out (fighting chronic pain). Not in public! That’s why I don’t shop “mature” brands, everything, even light tops, end below the leg break, obscuring the figure and unflatteringly visually cutting the body in half. The aesthetic benefit of my long legs and high waist are completely lost in tunic-length tops of sweaters. I don’t want my figure to look stumpy and square, because it isn’t, nor am I overweight.
I love your wardrobe ideas but it doesn't rain occasionally here, the month of November can have 28 days of rain for the month. How can someone change up their rain gear look and/or come up professional looks that don't look at the same. 🙏🙏🩶💙💙🩶🩶

I think the ivory sweater looked stunning on her.

Love from Ontario, Canada, love to layer with my outfits especially now the weather here is changing but beautiful fall.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Beth, I absolutely love the outfit with the brown leather pants, the color of those pants is just gorgeous.
Glad you like them!

Wowsa..... I like all your outfits, Beth. And my fav is outfit #4. 🥰 Chic and smashing. Thanks for posting!
You are so welcome!
Great outfits... here in the UK we need to layer. We have rain at the minute.
You never know what mother nature is going to deliver!

What a refreshing video! Practical advice and some killer outfits. That houndstooth jacket. The source? Enjoyed this very much. ❤

Thanks for watching!
I love the yellow sweater you're wearing. Is it still available somewhere? Thanks!
That sweater is a few years old from Ann Taylor.
Thank you!
Another great video! Love the tips.
Thanks, girlfriend! Always love to hear from you. Hope all is well!
Love how you style the outfits, thank you for sharing 🙂
You are so welcome!
Great advice and beautiful outfits thanks Beth. It will soon be too hot here for layering but spring is patchy here too. Love your videos Down Under 😊
Great advice Beth, thanks! The link to one skin doesn't seem to be accurate!?
Hi! I just checked the link, and it's going to OneSkin. Or is my code not working?
Does this remind anyone of the Glamour magazine “Do’s and Don’ts” column? 😉
Nice! Thank you!
Thank you aus Greece ❤❤
I'm a fashion junkie😂 Love these looks Beth!!

I wear straight leg pants, rarely skinny. But when I refer to skinny jeans that means skinny jeans.
Nice 😊❤

Beth, I love your channel and am subscribed, but I must say I don’t like the ad.

I agree with others...avoid frumpy not old
English weather is like that at the moment all over the place, light layers are the only answer.
