Wow, before this video started I was doubtful that this could be done in less than 3 minutes. Color me impressed! That definitely deserves a like and a sub!
If anyone is not able to get the shape properly despite the exact steps.. i tried this and it helped! Keep the outer flower in the front, the middle flower in middle and the circle in back In blend options, keep the steps between 500-600 In pucker bloat keep it to 70% In zig zag keep the size higher eg. 18-19 and the ridges 10 Hope this helps. Thanks Ashlea for this amazing tutorial
Many thanks for the tutorial, and for displaying as text the paths and values, makes it so much easier fo follow than trying to see what’s been selected and where.
holy shit thank you so much! i'd been struggling with my older version of element but this one is perfect Thank you so much! I swear non of the other tutorials worked but this one did! ily
Hi Naman, Its hard to troubleshoot without seeing it, but first make sure your circle and star only have a stroke and no fill. Otherwise, maybe take a look at your layers and see if anything is being grouped or compounded by mistake.
HI Pansilu, You will simply create a new document, any size and then follow the instructions above. You can download the file as well (link in the description). Thank you
mine didn't work well and I suppose it's because my illustrator version is CC 2019, do you have an updated version of this tutorial for recent versions of the program? thanks so much! xo
Very nice format for instructional videos! Super quick. However my issue is when I pick the color and adjust the gradient it fills in the shape rather than just the line being colored any tips? I followed everything step by step and I am confused. Thanks!
Hi Jake, if you check the fill and stroke color on the swatches or just under the tools on the toolbar, you will see if there is a fill color. There should be a red line through the fill to indicate that nothing is in the fill. Only the stroke should see a color.
Thanks Martha, you could try working in outline mode first. Outline View hides paint attributes, displaying the artwork as unfilled paths. Working in Outline View can speed the display of complex artwork, such as objects containing gradients or patterns. Outline View can also make it easier to edit objects hidden behind other filled objects. To display an Illustrator document in Outline View, choose View > Outline. Here is a helpful link to try other ways to optimize (there is also a PC version of this article): helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance-mac-os.html
Make sure there is no other effect on the blend. Also, ensure you have the correct view mode on (CPU). Lastly ensure you are using the correct blend tool (and not the blend mode) :). Hope that helps. Its hard to know without seeing it.
when i apply pucker effct dn don't get a same effect....actuly i applyng ds effect dn i don't get a circle in middle....dts y i can not make ds...plz help...
Yes, you will need to expand the appearance of the flower once it has been done and then you can resize. By expanding the appearance you will flatten the effects and remove the linked appearances. You can also export a PNG or JPG and resize for your final output.

is it possible to copy this into Adobe XD?
Hi Ivan, once you have designed the flower in Illustrator you could copy it as a graphic into XD.
Simple and Amazing!!
My pucker & bloat tool does not give me the same desired look [at 60 %] that I want from the video. Any reason why?
Make sure you only have a stroke color and no fill color.
I really thought it was just a joke that it would be that simple but it was once I retraced my steps and saw what I did wrong. THANKS for everything!
Awesome! Glad you were able to get the effect!
beautiful

@@AshleaSpitz its yet not applied !!! rather get filled in a shape
@@garimasharma7934 If you are using an older version of Illustrator then you can not apply a gradient to a stroke.
I have been able to follow this tutorial, super easy to follower. Only thing is it slows my program down like crazy, Any way to fix this?

Hi there, does anyone knows how to adjust manually the outer start bottom curves? Handles, doesn't appear for me. Thanks!
Make sure you are using your direct selection tool, then select the anchor point, secondly, ensure you have your edges showing (⌘H).
Thanks so much!
this is sooooooo epic.....!!
Can this flower now be resized? I want to make it smaller, but shape doesn't stay same.
Yes, you will need to expand the appearance of the flower once it has been done and then you can resize. By expanding the appearance you will flatten the effects and remove the linked appearances. You can also export a PNG or JPG and resize for your final output.
you're boss of Illustrator !
Why oh why can't I get the Radius and Points dialog box to come up? What am I missing?
Hi Lanier, you need to click once on the artboard after you select the star tool. Set the parameters and then hit OK.
terrific !
