The best part of this story is that you also follow the story of supporting characters even if they are not the focus of the story. Not only we see the 3 stooges (Kimura, Aoki, Itagaki) side of their journey, but we also have seen Volg, Date, Mashiba, and Sendo's growth. No actual "villain" other than Mr. Sakaguchi (I think lol), just big powerful antagonists, that sometimes you can sort of like as well... Yes even Brian Hawk. I think that's why HNI manga is still ongoing, because it's not only the story you're following, but it is also about every character's growth and journey.
And one of the reasons HJI still ongoing because coach Kakogawa's dream has not been fulfilled yet, the thing he want to have a Boxer that hold world title is not for Takamura as he say's in the manga. Takamura was born to become world champion and coach kamogawa knows it very well. But dream he wants is for Ippo to fulfill, Kamogawa and Ippo's fighting style had been always the same, this is why HJI still ongoing the dream has not yet been fulfilled and ippo's question "What is like to be Strong" has not yet being answer.

I even became my basketball teams CAPTAIN after 5 years from reading that manga. If your an ippo fan then you are 100% gaurenteed to become a slam dunk fan. Lets see if you guys love basketball more than boxing because I sure as hell love ippo but hate boxing . I am a fighter at heart and I am quite strong but boxing is extremely tough. Its hard to enjoy a match if you lose because you lose beatup inside and outside.

Me encanta este opening, sin duda alguna Ippo se convirtió en una gran inspiración para mí. No me gustaría dejar de entrenar por tener que trabajar, pero se me presenta una gran oportunidad laboral que requerirá gran parte de mi tiempo y posiblemente tenga que decir adiós. El sábado pasado participé en un torneo de kickboxing y cuando levantaron mi mano anunciando que yo había sido el ganador me sentí tan poderoso y eufórico que no pude contener la alegría. No les negaré que cuando me quedé solo y vi mi cinturón, por mi rostro descendieron lágrimas de felicidad pues todo el esfuerzo realizado había valido la pena, recodar aquellos días en los que me sentía cansado y aún así iba a entrenar o los días en los que salía lastimado del entrenamiento y tenía que ir a trabajar, sin comer, sin dormir bien, al recordar todo eso mi corazón se afligio y no pude contener las lágrimas. Este es un recordatorio para mí yo del futuro, esperando que hayas tomado la mejor decisión ojalá no abandonemos esto que tanto amamos.
Entiendo tu sentimiento compañero, practique taekwondo y competí. No gané torneos pero si algunos combates. También se me presentó un trabajo y tenía que entrar a la Universidad , tuve que dejar de entrenar. @@pipoarnold7313 Decidí renunciar a ese trabajo de mrda y enfocarme en lo que realmente amo y disfruto hacer que es entrenar, volví a competir en un torneo de kickboxing y quedé segundo lugar en mi escuadra, comencé a dar clases de MMA y trabajar de manera independiente, aunque aún no gano tanto dinero como antes, sé que poco a poco lo conseguiré y este trabajo me permite seguir entrenando. No me arrepiento de nada. Ojalá que tu también puedas seguir haciendo lo que más te guste ¡ÉXITO!
I dont even have an interest in boxing but this anime is so much more and i enjoyed it so much, watching all these different characters it helped me work on my self and also just be grateful for what you have. One of the most best anime’s out there.
What I really enjoyed about this show is that ippo is honestly in love with boxing and there's no heroine. He's just working this hard for himself and his passion. Don't get me wrong, I love my fan service but the fact that ippo doesn't need it to make it badass is great. One of my favorite animes easily.

Ippo's dempsey roll can get countered and the anti anti dempsey roll would also get crossed countered. Joe has faced harder opponents. Ippo isn't even world level yet. Atleast anymore
