I use my germanium boost for hours everyday. It's on right now. I especially count on it for my Gibson L5 which only has a neck pickup. It just brings life to the sound which in turn bring great tone under the fingers. It has a perfect sparkle that I've not found in other boost pedals. I highly recommend it. Thanks guys for your products!
The Benson Germanium Preamp is amazing I can get any from a fuzz face to Big Muff to a super smooth overdrive. I had original one before and loved it but the addition of a Germanium transistor was a game changer and added warmth, Richness and plenty of grit. It gives the guitar a huge sound. They did it right this time.
Well I'm not a guitarist but? This looks like the Preamp for a guitarist, to own! Yabaddabadoo! But primarily because? I'm a retired Audio Engineer. And quite a good one. With a hell of a career, now behind me. And we used to have a Studio Tape Recorder. Called a Scully. And when they first came out. All we had were Germanium Transistors. And that produced a certain kind of sound. That the later, Silicon Transistors, totally lacked. Oh sure. Those were quieter. Lower in noise. Broader frequency response. More linear, more flat.. And more boring. And so today. These,, 50-70-year-old recorders. The transports were trashed, long ago. The audio electronics are highly coveted. For their, Germanium Transistor Sound. Which is bigger fatter rounder Boulder sounding than silicon. It can also be a bit hissy. Which hopefully won't give you a fit with hissy. But that depends upon your pickup, lines and coils. I'm just saying… So if you can read between the lines? You. Will Want. A Germanium Preamp. And people will think. When they hear you play. That you have put on some pounds. And it will sound like it. As a Pound of Sound. It is worth 2 in the bush.. I don't know I just made that up. But it will sound great with, Germanium Transistors. That are also likely made by GE? They make the best ones. They may still be making the only ones? But that was the ones we used at Scully. As I worked, for Scully. Back in 1979/80. Their last years of existence. And we would still get those older legendary machines back in. For refurbishing. To make them like new again. And a great pleasure and honor for me to do so. As some came in really scuzzy looking. And we would look at them and go, what? What did they do? Ugh! As one deck plate top was painted brown. With a paintbrush. On top of the brushed aluminum finish. Ugh! I'll never forget that one. We couldn't figure out who would do such an atrocious thing? I mean they must've had some screws loose? But the screws were painted over also. It was a lovely mess. Obviously maintained by a psychopath. Maybe it came from Charles Manson? I don't know? David Karesh or somebody? They both played guitar. They both thought they were Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrapped into one. They were mad men. Just like Donnie. Hitler and Osama bin Laden wrapped into one. Oy vey! Jews will have to vacate the USA and the planet at large. Where is that damned spaceship to Mars!??! RemyRAD
