Ur AV on this topic was the best. Im learning knitting on YT as visual seems to work on my old brain better than written. Ive been left wondering even with visual cues on other sites. U explained it so succinctly. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you SO much for breaking the "how to" down the way you did and as another viewer mentioned, doing so in the different styles of knitting. Some people are just born teachers...you are truly one of them. I subscribed immediately.
I know I’m late to the party but wanted thank you for this demo. I echo previous comments, it’s the best German Short Row tutorial I’ve come cross yet!
I was so glad to find your wonderful video that makes the process of German Short Rows so clear. Plus you explain so well what DS and Wrap and Turn are. I had watched three other videos and was not fully understanding it. I finally get it. Yay! You are such a fantastic teacher. Thank you
Bless you for doing both. I'm the target demographic for that sort of thing because it's really hard for me to figure out some things when it's demo'd in continental only since I throw and my brain doesn't register how Continental works at all haha
Thank you for this! I have a short row question. When would you do short going to longer short rows vs long and then getting shorter rows? I am making a top down sweater and I want the back to be longer to cover my bum so was going to put short rows before the ribbing. (I don’t want a split hem) Which way do I do that? Does it even matter?
if you aren't trying to make a curve (a shirt tail hem), but sneak in a few extra rows, I cover how to do that here: www.moderndailyknitting.com/2019/07/05/ask-patty-the-long-and-the-short-of-it/. You'll see from the shape of the triangle which way to work it depending on how you go.
Great video - I am getting ready to do a shawl written for wraps and turns. I prefer to do German short rows instead. My understanding is that if I’m going to substitute German short rows for the wrap and turns, then I need to work one stitch beyond what the pattern calls for with a W & T. Is that correct? Thank you.
Thank you for your prompt reply, in fact, I was shocked to see how quickly you answered my question. I have done the German short rows before but never the wrap and turn-I’m doing the Wonder Woman Shawl for my daughter. The pattern calls for a wrap and turn, so I was hoping maybe I could do a German short row instead. I read your article, which was quite thorough-thanks again.
Not on hiding the DS on the purl row, but on the knit row, you'll have to reverse the stitch mounts just like you do when you do a K2tog. Here's a blog that shows the concept with shadow wraps: www.moderndailyknitting.com/ask-patty-short-row-mail-bag/
@PattyLyonsKnitting thanks Patty. Was just wondering if it was only me or a technical problem on your end. I was watching on my phone, so maybe it's not compatible in some way.
@@lynnlennox9978 TH-cam is totally compatible on an iPhone so I don’t know what kind of phone you have but again I think you need to take it into get looked at because TH-cam works on all Internet connected devices.

Great demo. Thank you for not wearing nail polish, I find it very distracting. Just finished a blanket with mitered cable corners. German short rows made it sing.
Miss Patty. Best instructions for German shorts. I have your book which helped but to have a demo on film & the written was so helpful.❤️
You and Roxanne Richardson are my favorite knitters

Depends on if it's long to short or short to long. Read here: pattylyons.com/2018/04/substituting-german-short-rows-for-wt-short-rows/

@@lindanovak7232 She is amazing.
Patty, is there any difference if I am a combination knitter?

Not getting any video on this. Only audio.
This is a video. I'm not sure how to offer computer help. You can try a different browser, or take it into a computer shop.
