I wish you the best. I had great appreciation for you and the movies you were in during the 1990s and early 2000s. You’re appearance, voice, and mannerisms remind me of a girl friend I had at the time. I feel a connection with you and the millions of others in our age group. I was born in November of 1970. For many of us born at that time, the 1990s were thrilling years. Because of your outstanding performances in films at that time I subconsciously associate you with the memories of those exciting days. And here we are, in what seems like a flash, a quarter of a century later. Like you, I’ve had some health issues. And so our focus has shifted just a bit from the wonderment of blossoming opportunities to more mundane, yet important topics. While my issues are different, I understand what you are going through mentally and emotionally. It is kind of you to share information and your experience with others. All of us in this age group are in a new stage of life that would have been hard to truly understand until we’d arrived here ourselves. Since we still have things to look forward to, I hope we all have the best luck as we move forward and do our best to support one another.
I also have ulcerative Colitis, I had to wear dipers for like a year at the age of 23. Thanks for Sharing. With Monica Potter and Brock Lesnar I am in good company
My god, the courage displayed here is overwhelming. Nothing can prepare someone to be so open about embarrassing health issues. Especially when one is a celebrity. I have the utmost respect for her candor and truly hope that she has gotten, or will get through this obstacle. Many thoughts and prayers.
Monica Potter - Thanks so much for sharing a very important, most un-glamorous message with us all. Colonoscopies are really easy, as you said the Prep is the worst of it. My best friend had her colonoscopy & discovered she had Stage 4 Colon Cancer! Luckily enough she has been cancer free for over 3 years. A colonoscopy saved her life. I had colon polyps at 40, going to get my overdue colonoscopy in a month. Good luck with your belly issues, keep sending out this great message!
UC is no joke and getting that annual colonoscopy is a must. Thank you for bringing awareness to this disease and reminding everyone that you can't ignore gi issues and hope they go away. May God bless you, and may your colonoscopy results be great!
I have digestive problems if I dont eat mini wheats or I do drink or eat too much milk based products. This may be an oversimplification for what you are dealing with, just thought it might help to try if you arent already doing these things. I just watched one of your movies and was reminded how much I enjoyed seeing you. Hope you and your family are well Miss Potter.
Thank you for bringing this to light and for giving me the courage to even do a faecal occult test...and I should know better, being a health professional. You are one courageous woman who I so look up to. Thank you again, lovely lady and so thinking of you, all the best from Australia
Norm Macdonald passed away recently of bowel cancer. He detected it at 32, and is the reason he lived as long as he did... not the kind of thing you want to surprise you and be told you've months to live. Sooner you get checked, the better. This is priceless advice. Thanks luv.
I am so sorry to hear this Monica. Hang in there , things will get better. You would remember me as Lars from Washington State ! lol Chats , a long time ago ! Praying for you .......
good luck Monica. i asked my self i wonder where have you been. wondered what happened to you as i have not seen or heard from you in some time. my god bless you in your recovery and get back to the silver screen again soon.
Hi Monica, sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. From what you mentioned it sounds like severe constipation. The best remedy is to take probiotics, and eat plenty of wheat bran. Hope that helps. Enjoyed watching your film Martha meets Frank and Laurence. All the best from London.
Nancy, apologies for the misunderstanding as I did not read the full transcript. There is an alternative remedy, rather than taking pharma products, Ayurvedic Ulcerative Colitis Treatment Known as Pittaj Grahani in Ayurveda, Ulcerative Colitis is primarily a disease of Pitta Dosha, with varying degrees of Vata involvement in some cases. The excessive consumption of Pitta-aggravating foods and lifestyle initially damages both rakta dhatu (blood tissue) and mamsa dhatu (muscle tissue), leading to formation of ama that gets deposited between the villi in the intestines, forming a smooth coating that impairs the normal function and immunity of the intestines. Vata Dosha in the lower colon is also aggravated and in the early stages blocks the Pitta and Kapha channels, causing inflammation, mucous accumulation and edema. Ayurvedic treatment of Ulcerative Colitis involves gently eliminating the ama, restoring healthy digestion and creating a bacterially-friendly environment in the body. After the basic strength and immunity of the body is restored, the treatment focuses on natural healing of the ulcers. Diet & Lifestyle Advice • Have soup prepared by boiling split gram (split legumes), buttermilk, and yogurt prepared from skimmed milk and goat’s milk. • Increase use of cumin seeds, coriander, and celery seeds in cooking. • Avoid whole peas and beans, broccoli, potato, garlic, jaggery, yam, sweet potato and other indigestible foods; fried, oily and highly salted foods; and fermented and packaged foods. • Improve eating habits by having food in calm surroundings without watching television, listening to music, or working on the computer. Chew the food properly and completely. Eat slightly less than your appetite. • Avoid tea, coffee, and alcohol.
Thank you for making this! I have been struggling so badly with stomach issues, the doc's cant figure it out. But I've been actively trying to do everything positive, it is so frustrating sometimes, but its nice to have other women out there speaking actively about it and also nice to know im not the only one :( I hope everything is ok with you!

I'm not an actor, or a hero or a firefighter or a soul singer or maverick politician or law enforcement or make people happy or laugh and I've never killed anyone... will you all pray for me too. I deserve hell just like anyone else born on this planet. Pray for us all. "for by God's grace are we saved through Faith, not by works, it is the Free Gift of God, not that anyone can boast of their salvation." "none of us are righteous, no not one." "for the wages of sin is death,( we all die, therefore we are all sinners) but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Did she die on a cross to save us from our sins? Eternity will be nothing to do with any of us. It will all be about Jesus Christ who died on a cross to save us from our sins.

Umm, it's ulcerative colitis, as she clearly states. Not constipation. HUGE difference. Requires serious drugs. Not probiotics and wheat bran.
