Our 2021 Florida Winter Camping trip in our Winnebago Revel continues as we head further south to Naples where we stayed at Collier-Seminole State Park. While there we took a trip over the Tamiami Trail 41, stopping to go wow over huge alligators. We continued on the Homestead and did a happy dance over milkshakes at Robert Is Here. One of the best things to do at Collier-Seminole State Park is the paddling trails. We took our Hurricane kayaks out for a long paddle and even caught and landed a tarpon. Lynn does her impression of On Golden Pond song and at the end of this video we tell you the things we love and don’t love about Collier Seminole State Park.

O but so much fun, it is hard to control in a kayak.
Pretty cool seeing the alligators. Man those milkshakes really look good. RVs in the circle made me think of a western when they put the covered wagons in a Circle. Florida definitely a good place to be this time of year. Can't wait to get there in a little over week.

Colier is always crowded. But I will go just for the fishing. Those Anhinga birds are my favorite. I like to guess where they are going to come up after swimming. Thank you for the video. I like it when you go to some of my favorite spots. I hope you all are lucky enough to see a Florida Panther while you are close to the Preserve.
We would also love to see a Florida panther. Even though Colier is crowed we will definitely go back because we love all the water. Thanks so much for commenting.

My husband and I love watching your videos. We are supposed to get our Revel in June and can’t wait to visit some of these places we see you go. I don’t like the busy campgrounds either (we tend to boon dock camp most of the time, but do enjoy state parks). Spring is on its way here in East Tennessee and we can’t wait to explore. I too dislike small campsites with too many neighbors and little privacy. Sometimes you don’t have much choice though and have to make the best of it. Nice laid back video. A lot of folks laugh about being tired of temps in the 80s but being a Midwesterner I can relate. You can always put on more clothes when it’s cold but there’s a limit to what you can take off when it’s hot.
When you travel like we do you don’t always get to choose the best campsites, that is a down side, plus if you have never been to a park you don’t necessarily know the best sites to get. I totally agree about the limit to taking off clothes when it’s hot. Thanks so much for sharing your comment.
The weather here is cloudy 44 degrees feels like 33. Rain and snow tapering off this morning. Great video guys! Glad you found the positive in "people watching" when at the circle campsite.

I agree that campground is not my favorite but it is a beautiful area. Your photography or videography is on point. You caught an egret eating a fish, the alligator and fish in the water. I have chills what incredible creatures. I don't even know what the bird in the tree is. Was it a buzzard? Your videos are amazing Lynne and Owen. Your videos are like I am there. The color the scenery you can pick out a leaf on the walkway. The colors are wonderful the sky, the trees, the water, the dirt for crying out loud. Great camera. Your videos are wonderful. The bird in the tree sunning himself was an Anhinga. We both love birds so we do film them a lot. There was an abundance of them all along the Everglades. Thank you so much for your kind words.

That had to be a heck of a milkshake to drive an hour out of your way! Stop at the Savannah Wildlife Refuge sometime when you’re heading back home to NC. They take the alligators that get to be too big in the Lowcountry there. They are all huge. It’s off of 95N just a few exits after Savannah downtown exit. Just a few miles off the interstate. Pretty drive too because you feel like you’re driving in the marsh. Safe travels!

As a Floridian, I was very surprised not to hear anything about the dreaded mosquitoes? Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Stay safe...
There have only been a few times we felt the mosquitoes were really bad and it was mostly in the early evening.
Love your vids. We're on the 6-10 month wait for delivery of our first RV/Van. 5 kids, 3 about to be out of the house. We in Alabama, so we went with the Storyteller Overland. Liked the Revel, too. It was a matter of the power...and supporting a local business for us. God willing, we'll be on the road before the new year. Hope to see y'all. Will be watching til then (and after).

That is a crowded campsite! You still had a great time. You can have the gators though. When we lived in Charleston they were a problem. Always have to keep the little dogs on a leash! I love the shorebirds though. We are near Asheville and there is no winter weather here. It is cooler, but no snow, sleet etc. Maybe where you are you are catching the tail of the big storm that is coming across the midwest. That was quite a kayak launch!
There were sites in the campground that were not as crowed, we did move to a couple of those for several days. We always keep Maggie on a leash when we are not a home. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
In Portland Oregon at almost 5pm, it is raining lightly and 41* F. I think I prefer that to 84* and muggy. Beautiful vid though, I get a kick out of you three!

The older the campground the smaller the sites. I think the green on the alligators is alge from being in the water in the summer under the sun. It grows on them.

On your way back home, if you're anywhere near plant city, you have to stop at Parksdale Market! Best strawberry milkshake you'll ever had, and best strawberry shortcake!
We live pretty near there and they do have some amazing desserts! They just missed the Strawberry Festival.

Those Kayak launches are great. Getting on and off the water is so easy with them. We have one close to me I use at a place called Mallows bay ( google that for some history, it’s worth it)
We were in Naples last year and I was not impressed. Maybe I’m just too poor to enjoy it 🤷🏼♂️ but I don’t own a Bentley 😂. Great video 👍🏼

We traveled yesterday and got to see the video today. Too funny, we pulled into Highlands Hammock State Park outside of Sebring and we dont like it here. Thankfully we are only 2 days here then off to Hillsborough River State Park. We are so close to our neighbors that I want to scream!!!! Glad you guys didn’t encounter the gator at the boat launch. @@VANTREKKINGlifestyle The gator was at the kayak launch at Collier-Seminole. Juanita caught him on a rod and reel. The gator attacked a popping cork and she handed the rod to me. I got him close, then he broke off. He was an aggressive gator so maybe Parks took him out! We will post again after we get home on the 24th. Gotta learn to edit on the road!!! Miss you guys!

Just got back from that area last week. Stayed at Midway Campground Big Cypress Preserve about halfway across rt 41. You guys should check out the Shark Valley Visitor Center...15 mile bike loop out through the everglades. Lost count of the alligators. really enjoy your travels.
We also stayed a Midway, we’ll show that next week, it was our stop over before the keys. I guess we’ll have to put the Shark Valley Visitor Center on our list for next time. The bike loop sounds great. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yah, we were at Collier Seminole last winter for 3 days. Hated the camp sites - way too packed in! The river was lovely though and we rented a canoe (1st time on one). Don't think I'd go back there again.
We loved Roberts too! Such a cool place.
We would probably go back but be more careful about the site we book. We actually liked the tent area the best. The water is why we would go back.
I'm getting a Revel later this year Sept/Oct'ish. I plan to haul a trailer at times and a small RV for my teen kids when they come along. For easier placement of the trailer in tight spots, when I had my Class C I put a Trailer hitch on the front. Keep it up you love you videos, I'm sure our paths will cross at some point.

I agree I’d much rather not tow anything, that’s why we got the van. I’ve got two home bases Maine and Florida Panhandle, however we head south west for winter and Happy Life / Happy Wife dictates I pull a trailer more than I’d like.

If there is water there are alligators .
Sometimes there are alligator signs, but we hardly ever see any while we are kayaking.

Elliptivango have elliptical bikes and they are making their way to all 50 states to ride their bikes. They also travel in a van. We absolutely loved meeting them.
My sister and I like to people watch while we camp. It's too funny at times, and we know others enjoy us to, so it's all good.
Owen likes to people watch too, just watching all the things people do to set up is always interesting and entertaining.
Another great video! I'm with you guys when it comes to the mid 80's. Florida sun is hot so I like mid 70's and even high 60's.
As I get older I would prefer cooler weather rather than hotter and shade. I always say you know your old when you go to the pool and sit in the shade.

Just curious if there are any cameras you could use on your phone for the inside to see Maggie or the air conditioning button just to make sure then you will be able to relax about her? The struggle is real!
In the other van we had a pet monitor that you could tell the temperature and it would notify you when it got above or below a certain temperature. We may do that again. There is a monthly fee and since we weren’t traveling as much in 2020 we couldn’t justify the monthly expense.

Robert Is Here in Homestead, FL. Kayaks are Hurricane Skimmer 106 sit-on-top kayaks. They are super lightweight and track great. Yes, we would definitely recommend them as long as your weight is below 250lbs. They make a bigger version for bigger folks. Lynn sits much higher in the water than I (Owen) do because of weight. Thanks for being with us!
How long does the ac work with the lithium batteries? Thanks Dave
I hate to say it but it all depends, the temperature and if solar is coming in will change the amount of time a lot. Our guessament would be if it was night time (no solar) and around 80 it would last around 6 hours. We keep up with the times and conditions when we leave Maggie, but we have never run it over night.

The mosquitos got bad in the evening but durning the day they weren’t bad at all. We do hate it when you can’t setup and enjoy the park because the bugs are so bad.

How come Lyn never drives?
When we don’t drive very far each day Owen usually drives, and I don’t mind that all. If we are driving for longer periods we do split it up.
How did you into the tent site without a tent ,,or did you set up a tent ?
It did not seem to be a problem. We could have setup our room if it was a problem. There were other vans and small RV’s in that area as well.
Sorta have to do a little happy dance when getting pulled into the mangroves by a big fish. : - )
