While I agree with you, there is one part of Palps plan that you might be missing. Suffering. Sith thrive of the suffering and pain. They derive strength and power from negative emotions and hate. Looks like Andor will be working on Imperial security droids, which may be where he connects with K-2S0 and may be instrumental in his escape. On a side note, what the heck was Palpatine's end goal with all this? Just plain nihilism to destroy the galaxy and control everything to death?
When de facto control of the entire galaxy (or just the politically and economically important parts of it) isn't an end in itself ... You are probably looking too hard for an answer that's already pretty obvious.
if they show Yularen i hope they show him as an imperial with good qualities. Even tho he serves the empire he is not a bad intentioned person, hope we see more of his character
you're right. he's a terribly intentioned person after the clone wars. read some of the comics. he has NOTHING but pure HATRED towards the jedi and the republic. even in the later years of the clone wars he was said and shown to be working closely with Palpatine in order to secure personal gain when the republic fell. And like the other guy said, they already did show him. but seriously read the comics, he's kind of a hugeeeee piece of shit... that's why they've been showing him like that, granted it was one scene but still. theres a reason he was stationed on the damn Death Star.
To me the most messed up part was putting the prison in the middle of an ocean..like how cruel is that. To plan for slaves with no possible escape. Which is a dope idea, but idk how Andor escaped lol.
Hi friends, have you ever think in the way out? I was thinking, with your plastic plate and your companion plate as well as the clothes, one can make a pair of improvised boots. Where the plates are the basis envolved in clothes that also are fixing your feet there... Perhaps the companions without shoes can stand over the working benches and do not get fried during the initial moves of a breaking out attempt. Another thing is, in case all levels try to escape at once, or to take control of their levels at once, then the guards cannot fired all levels at onces, they will blow the electric system, because a single level already stop the electricity general system, so all levels at once may fried the general electric circuit.

I'm curious about your pronunciation of Ilum. Having played SWTOR for almost 10 years I've always heard it pronounced "ILL-um" - with the accent on the first syllable. You said it as Ill -LUM (like the Illuminating company) with the accent on the second syllable. Any reason for this?
Above all economic practicality, Palpatine, as a Sith Lord, feasts upon & thrives over the galaxy’s collective anger, hate & pain. His ultimate issue: being able to control all that suffering, halting it from becoming a legitimate reckoning. His & their hubris was his downfall.
Absolutely wonderful to watch and explore - to be sure. To me, it’s like Blade Runner (original) meets Star Wars - and as a Sci-Fi fan - it is absolutely welcomed in this day “splash and go” - love it!
Yo Allen, great job! Although alluded to, the old axiom should be emphasized: To the victor goes the spoils. Once Palp, took over a major city, country and then finally the entire planet or moon, All of its hard currency, whether held publicly or privately now belong to the Empire along with all existing Ships, machinery and of course slave labor.
Don't forget that Palpatine is a Sith. Part of the reason for the intentional oppression and corruption, even at the expense of efficiency and detriment of the Empire itself, is the actual oppression and corruption. Such cruelty and brutality strengthens the Dark Side, which in turn strengthens Palpatine. Unlike many villains, Palpatine is well aware that he's evil, and revels in it. He's not an inept leader. He knows exactly what he's doing.
From those trailer shots Iam pretty sure they are making those K-security droids, or parts for them. Would give him a chance to pick up his cool buddy. I mean, they did just shoved those droids in the show on screen to make everyone go 'ooh yeah he had one of those in the movie!', Iam sure they won't leave us hanging with that ;) xD
1:27 ummmm remember the yuuzhan vong? There is a very good case to be made that Palpatine knew the YV was a massive threat and that only a military dictatorship would be able to defend the galaxy from them

12:33 In a way it sort of is. In star wars human and humanoid characters are almost always seen wearing shoes. (Actually almost always boots.) Only certain alien species are seen not wearing shoes because of culture, their feet aren't compatible/are resilient enough not to need them, or they don't have feet.

When I was in High School back in the 70s , we were warned about robots replacing a lot of human labor force here on EARTH. That would make sense anywhere in the Galaxy.
Replace PORD with GULAG and you have a nice analogue for real world political systems. That's the real value of Star Wars since its creation: A good way to explore the complexities of political systems taken to the nth degree. The real genius of Lucas' construct is that it explores both side of the ideological divide: Capitalism and Socialism are equally scrutinised - thus exposing the real sources of tyranny... Monopoly, authoritarianism, political-detachment by the masses, ineffective regulation and government over reach, control of media and historical narrative. ... ANDOR is the best SW series since the clone wars.
You always assume that Palpatine is in the business of running an empire. He is not. He's in the business of spreading as much fear, pain and misery as he can because he's an Emperor second, but an evil Space Wizard first. The fear and misery translates to power in the Dark Side, and that is what he's talking about when he refers to ultimate power. A dark being he is; not that frail flesh.
A prediction. I suspect that Luthen Rael keep's handling will be put to use at some point, probably violently. I think this because of the amount of scenes that it keeps appearing in.
6:19 "and the Empire would become one of the largest employers in the entire galaxy." Also one of the largest implementers of Slave Labor in the entire galaxy. (like Amazon)
The biggest, most humorous thing about the entire show, so far, is how QUICKLY the people in the show, knowing very little about what the Rebellion is, of course, will consider anything a Rebel attack, and can consider anyone to be a Rebel. Cassian was assaulted by crooked cops and he ended up becoming guilty of manslaughter. Sgt Mosk gave a subtle hint of the possibility that Cassian could have acted in behalf of the 'fomenting pockets' of rebellion against the Empire. Afterward, Karn considers Cassian a Rebel and says it straightforwardly. I'm not sure who, but I think that either Luthen or Mothma is part of a Rebel cell, and it desperately needs money. He has been hoping for at least 6 months to get that money from Mothma, but, as a fallback plan, he recruited a ragtag group of people for only 1 thing, a robbery. The important thing is that he gets the money, but taking it from the Empire is a bonus. But he spoke to each of them as if the robbery was more than that, its primary purpose is to attack the Empire, and each person believed him. Skeen and Cassian were in it only for the money. Nemik whole-heartedly thought he was part of a rebellion. The 2 women could really be part of a rebel cell somewhere that the robbery is supposed to support, but I don't know. Either way, only HOURS, not days, when the crime scene and necessary interviews, and a thorough investigation has already passed, but literally HOURS after the heist, it's already in the news that there was "a large Rebel attack." Nothing less than an assumption, that just happens to not be true. Deedra Meero sees that a Starpath Unit has gone missing, and IMMEDIATELY her mind is made up that the theft was part of a coordinated effort by the Rebellion. Cassian was only trying to get a couple of dollars to get away from Ferrix, pay back debts, clap some cheeks, and buy some nice "styling and profiling" clothes, and take care of his foster mother. He's no Rebel, and he has nothing at all to do with rebel activity. Everyone is so quick to blame it on the Rebellion, but nobody really knows much about it. And in Deedra's Witch hunt to make a simple robbery into something infinitely more than what it actually was, she found solid evidence of what Bail Organa has been doing for at least 14 years secretly, of course. He's been using his wealth, political influence and power to lead humanitarian relief efforts to planets suffering because of the Empire, something we saw him do several times during the Clone Wars. He's been working with various independent rebel cells, and coordinating activities with them so that they work as a unified group. And that network of Rebel Cells associated with Organa's Rebellion has grown a LOT. And, as we've seen him do before, he refit small ships and freighters with the military equipment that the Rebel cells have appropriated from the Empire, to make those small ships combat capable ships. Just when you thought you were a pirate about to rob a freighter, it surprises you with Imperial weapons that will leave your ship shattered into pieces. As far as I know, Deedra mightbe the first person outside the Rebellion to find evidence that it really does exist as a unified network of Rebel cells. She will never know that Organa is it's current leader. And, again, nobody knows that there a large scale Rebellion, and that there are also many independent rebel cells with activities unrelated to the Rebellion. To most people in the show, all of it, even things that aren't Rebellion, are Rebellion. I nearly fainted when Deedra told what she learned from the report she produced
I clicked on as the photo leading to this clip reminded me of the scene from the “Ice Pirates” prison. Wonder if that was just unintentional or since Ice Pirates is over 30 years old that they would hope no one would notice?
There’s a Star Wars following who prefer science fiction over fantasy, whose imagination has been captured by a universe that’s been fleshed out enough to feel almost real, but are ultimately frustrated that its potential is squandered when storytelling is limited to children’s fantasies. I’m amazed at how many comments I’ve read from Andor fans who are delighted with the realistic characters and wealth of mundane detail in the show that help ground the Star Wars universe in the believable.

Not to get too political... but this is a case of art imitating life. You might be surprised to know how many of your favorite brands of clothes, food, or tech use prison labor as part of their supply chain.
Not surprised heard about this decades ago.
How many? What are these brands? How to learn more about it?
@@im_piano Chinese/Bengal sweatshops that are basically prison. You can’t leave unless you meet your quota. In the US I forget which brand but they have inmates make pens and tshirts, belt buckles.
@@mikloridden8276 Dont forget about phones like the iphone. The have nets along the building to prevent suicide jumpers
Palpatine's scheme and establishment of the Empire was brilliant, but once he had absolute power, he was a a very poor leader of it.
Speaking of Starship Troopers, one can elaborate that it was the Federation's militaristic regime that lead to war and not vice versa. Bugs just happened to be an ideal enemy. Remember that the Federation had already been at an undeclared war with the Bugs prior to the asteroid attack. Judging by the news reports from within the movie It seems this war was on Bugs' soil.
Looks like Andor will be working on Imperial security droids, which may be where he connects with K-2S0 and may be instrumental in his escape. On a side note, what the heck was Palpatine's end goal with all this? Just plain nihilism to destroy the galaxy and control everything to death?
"Power, unlimited power"
When de facto control of the entire galaxy (or just the politically and economically important parts of it) isn't an end in itself ...
You are probably looking too hard for an answer that's already pretty obvious.
Everytime i hear you say mobile infantry i instinctively think of starship troopers
if they show Yularen i hope they show him as an imperial with good qualities. Even tho he serves the empire he is not a bad intentioned person, hope we see more of his character
They did show him
@@georgie9723 He's a CRAWLER! He will loyally serve whoever is in charge!
you're right. he's a terribly intentioned person after the clone wars. read some of the comics. he has NOTHING but pure HATRED towards the jedi and the republic. even in the later years of the clone wars he was said and shown to be working closely with Palpatine in order to secure personal gain when the republic fell. And like the other guy said, they already did show him.
but seriously read the comics, he's kind of a hugeeeee piece of shit... that's why they've been showing him like that, granted it was one scene but still. theres a reason he was stationed on the damn Death Star.
@@Dezzyyy I THOUGHT self interest would have played a big part!
To me the most messed up part was putting the prison in the middle of an ocean..like how cruel is that. To plan for slaves with no possible escape. Which is a dope idea, but idk how Andor escaped lol.
10:23 who else caught the 4Runner make a cameo 😂 luv it ❤❤
Andor is "Breaking Bad" in space they should have called it "Breaking Rebel".
Hugo Damask would be appalled by Palps spending habits
😂
Holy cow I did watch the entire video on the Bureau, I think it was that it was so out of the normal that it became super interesting! Cool early 90's vibe with that lighting color/filter stuff. 🤣
The lightsaber stuff makes me think, "What up, Flow Fam?" ... I expect no one else will get that reference.
Andor is now warming to me (hot). It kinda like the sneaky Cold War/ French resistance feel to it.
3:54 YOOO What the heck is this scene from? I need the rest of this pronto!
The old republic cinematics! These ones were for the eternal empire I believe. 10/10, watch them all
ANDOR is doing a great job explaining how the empire runs the galaxy.
Definitely a cool host. Your video on the most evil non-Sith people in Star Wars was mentioned in r/StarWars today
I’m getting really excited for the Star Wars version of The Shawshank Redemption
Morgan freeman Morgan freeman
1:27 ummmm remember the yuuzhan vong? There is a very good case to be made that Palpatine knew the YV was a massive threat and that only a military dictatorship would be able to defend the galaxy from them
While all other youtubers have given up covering Andor due to the lack of easily weaponised hate based on ruined childhoods, perceived disrespect of legacy characters and whatever else they can make a quick buck off, Generation Tech is going fully down the rabbit hole with all the glorious world building we are getting and damn fine character development and story telling
This.
Anti-woke channels do like 1 video, realizes their audiences are capable of individual thinking and doesn't share their hate (despite having Disney's name on it), and move on to bashing something else.
12:33
In a way it sort of is.
In star wars human and humanoid characters are almost always seen wearing shoes. (Actually almost always boots.) Only certain alien species are seen not wearing shoes because of culture, their feet aren't compatible/are resilient enough not to need them, or they don't have feet.
“Hi. My name is Tech Generation, and I am Allen.”
“I like to wear a reversed baseball cap because I believe in Democracy.”
Allan, like your analysis!!
Other than the Plaguis book that shows Palpatine training and learning, they never showed him in a light where you could relate to him or anything. But reading about him and his absolute hunt for power, his plans within plans, within plans.
Definitely should put some Star Wars background on your tv would really set the mood and catch a good vibe but overall love u vids
It's almost like Palpatine's goal is to increase the fear, anger, hate and suffering in the galaxy regardless of the consequences - OH WAIT
Love all the andor worldbuilding and videos
Your channel rocks!
Somehow Palpatine returned!
3:26 what is that pic of Ilum from???
I guess everyone forgot Palpy was preparing for an extra Galactic invasion where Death Star Fleets are necessary.
Hey! I ordered a saber from Own A Saber using your promo code. Just got delivered today, in plenty of time for me to use for my Sith Halloween costume. I just had to comment - these are SOOOOOOO nice and such a great value considering the price (especially with the discount code!) If anyone else is thinking about pulling the trigger, go ahead and order with confidence. These are the real deal.
When I was in High School back in the 70s , we were warned about robots replacing a lot of human labor force here on EARTH. That would make sense anywhere in the Galaxy.
What's with the Toyota 4X4 at video Time Index 10:23???😀
Could be a good alternative if ATATs prove to be unreliable
Replace PORD with GULAG and you have a nice analogue for real world political systems. That's the real value of Star Wars since its creation: A good way to explore the complexities of political systems taken to the nth degree. The real genius of Lucas' construct is that it explores both side of the ideological divide: Capitalism and Socialism are equally scrutinised - thus exposing the real sources of tyranny... Monopoly, authoritarianism, political-detachment by the masses, ineffective regulation and government over reach, control of media and historical narrative. ... ANDOR is the best SW series since the clone wars.
Well said pete
11:50 I think it was because she made a reference to one specific prosthetic part...
and I'm not referring to his limbs... if you know what I mean lol
Fear and intimidation is the absolute worst method to motivate people and inspire them, in fact it often inspires the opposite reaction of rebellion!
The entire galaxy in the Empire’s grasp.
Emperor Palpatine, “Oooohh! Free real estate!”
A prediction. I suspect that Luthen Rael keep's handling will be put to use at some point, probably violently. I think this because of the amount of scenes that it keeps appearing in.
Excellent transition to the ad
maybe it's too late but I keep hoping word of mouth gets more people to view this great show, its deserving of it.
The right people are watching it... that's all that matters. Disney know this.
@@miamijim5964 more people watch it Disney will back more star wars like this, that's why it's important. But I hope you're right.
I'm with you man. I love seeing all the minutiae of Imperial life.
Is this legit?
I nearly fainted when Deedra told what she learned from the report she produced
yeah and that standards video was fascinating too...lol so yeah we watched
For a second there I thought this was gonna be a critique of the actual prison system. lol
I heard the food is meh
The guy they got to play Colonel Yularen played a historic British general from the Irish Revolutionary Period so he’s quite experienced
FYI the music is too loud in the beginning.
Comparing the Empire to Amazon right before an Amazon recruitment commercial, LOL.
I clicked on as the photo leading to this clip reminded me of the scene from the “Ice Pirates” prison. Wonder if that was just unintentional or since Ice Pirates is over 30 years old that they would hope no one would notice?
I thought this was a Star Wars deep dive, not an American one.
There’s a Star Wars following who prefer science fiction over fantasy, whose imagination has been captured by a universe that’s been fleshed out enough to feel almost real, but are ultimately frustrated that its potential is squandered when storytelling is limited to children’s fantasies.
I’m amazed at how many comments I’ve read from Andor fans who are delighted with the realistic characters and wealth of mundane detail in the show that help ground the Star Wars universe in the believable.
what the hell is that sniff at 0:44?
I didn’t add that it was in the original scene
@@GenerationTechShorts oh wow an actual reply at my dumb comment, don't get me wrong by the way I love your content!
1:27 Don't you remember the Yuuzhan Vong?
I'm guessing the prison arc will end with Andor escaping with a reprogrammed Imperial security droid by the name of K-2SO who will aid in his escape.
Interesting that in the Empire, there is no middle class. Either wealthy and powerful, or oppressed and poor.
The prisoner transport looked a bit like a Federation shuttle craft to me.
oovoo 4 and despayre are the legends prison worlds i am vaguely familiar with. the former is where live captives of bounty hunters were sent in the republic era and the latter is where the death star was first test fired to see if it was functional.
A lot of people give TIE fighters a lot of trash for essentially being barebones starfighters, but... There are SO MANY of them. They really are just the most mass produced starfighter ever invented.
This is going to be amazing and I can't wait for it.
What the Empire's doing to innocent people would make me - a pacifist - join the rebellion to stop the cruelty and needless suffering and death.
As for the prison system, well... this is a tactic I put in my book about a year or so ago:
"Slavery… He was talking about slavery, and the Regents were hiding it under the skirt of the penal system."
Kinda puts facilities like the star forge and simular automated mass production facilities into a new perspektiv
basically looks like something lut of blake's 7 very intresting.
Hello there friends welcome back to another episode of Generation Tech, my name is Allen
That's what makes android such a awesome show the fact that it's about the the way the Empire works and/or at least parts of it the way the people have been slowly transforming from the Republic to the Empire and didn't just happen all at once it gives you insight into the life in Star Wars itself that's not focused on the main trilogy characters like that's what makes it awesome isn't just good it's awesome
It's gonna be awesome, I'm actually excited to see a starwars version of Shawshank Redemption 😂🤣
