I do not want to detract from Andor at all. But, this video has shown me that the character archetype of Dedra is basically Thrawn's character. It actually makes me wonder whats going to happen to her, clearly we can't have a competent imperial this early on in the galactic civil war. She's going to have to be killed off next season to allow the rebels a chance to grow. It would actually be cool if we found out that she was transferred to Thrawn's command before most of the OG trilogy, maybe we'll see more of her in Ahsoka 2 or the Mando movie.
I think after the incident at Ferrix, I feel like she'd face a massive demotion. Her record may be permenantly scarred and her peers within the ISB may dismiss her theories or refuse to take them seriously

Andor was the best Star Wars anything since its release. I don't even care about the lack of iconic figures I would have wanted to collect. The story is awesome and much better written than I could have imagined.
It's often said how Palpatine's Empire only lasted 20 years as opposed to the thousands of years the OR lasted, but given all we see, only the public hunger for peace after the CW kept them from lasting less than a decade. If there was a mistake to be made, they turned into it with cackling full force.
I always figured that Palpatine was the type of person who loved all the scheming and betrayal to get to the top but then had no real interest in actually governing. He jumped right into his next project an let his lackeys run things. However, since he eliminated or sidetracked all the honorable, competent politicians and military leaders, he was left with the corrupt and/or incompetent. The Empire had the resource to sustain this for a while but even an evil organization cannot withstand too much corruption and incompetence.

Like the Joker, he was a dog chasing cars. He claimed he was after immortality but in the "real" sense of using the Force to achieve everlasting life. In reality, he was just a petty and selfish man who wanted to be king of the ashes, so long as everything burns beautifully. He's like a grand strategy gamer who is using memes and half-baked ideas just to see what happens on the board. He doesn't care, so long as it causes chaos.

Since Palpatine got to the top through ruthless betrayal, he saw that as a sign of strength and set up a system where the most ruthless backstabbers got to the top. However, it also meant that all the top people were beholden to him and would not dare rebel against him because they made too many enemies on the way to the top. I imagine Palpatine thought that was the perfect system for running the Empire and was constantly looking for new contenders to play his games.

I feel his order to "open fire" was also an emotional response to nearly being blown up anger confusion and as you said fear, he was probably angry with the people for killing his soldiers aja his brothers so I would say that the order to open fire was also revenge as well as a fear based survival action
The entire situation went out of control because of the imperial captain. Also they were very limited in number, perhaps a company (+) size element, with standard security trooper platoons and an attached stormtrooper platoon from the local Star Destroyer in the sector. Those stormtroopers looked very disciplined and professional, if the garrison was just waiting inside the HQ and the surrounding buildings, even if the crowd actually attacks unprovoked (because it was provoked by Tigo assaulting the droid) after the end of the funeral, the imperials would've had even less casualties, since they have chockepoints at the doors and windows of the buildings. Then he can call the local Star Destroyer and request air support and reinforcements from the stormtrooper legion on board.

There are the stormtroopers as well, they'd all likely be out to show force, I reckon there'd be no more than 50 of those, perhaps about a platoon of 30. Then there are the death troopers, but there aren't many of those at all. I'd go as far to say that 200 is the absolute maximum number of personnel, and perhaps only 150.

I don't think they even have representation. The Proex Morlana Corp might have had a seat like the Trade Federation did in the Republic but once they got the boot? I doubt they had any representation unless they were in the Core Region and I think they're Mid Rim.

The point is that if such a protesting demand did not happen, his father would not have died and the Empire will not even be in this mess in the first place. The point is that if the Empire didn't do anything yet but simply raising their flag, was such a protest even necessary to begin with? After all, such protest led to the protestors getting slain and the innocents got caught in the crossfire. Had they not, no ones would have died in the first place. Heck, the fact that they allowed a corporate entity to govern Ferrix on behalf of the Empire after what happened at that time clearly said a lot that they have no interests in putting Ferrix under Imperial military occupation at all.

As for the protest they protested the Imperial occupation caused by Cassian Andor's murder of severall corpo officers, in return they got shot at, you may think a bunch of scrappers aren't the wisest people in the galaxy.
in a situation like that, you stand aside, deescalate emerging situations with small enforcement actions, and let the crowd as a whole continue as they are. the captain had his entire force out IN FRONT of the crowd, so if anything happened behind the line, there was nothing he could do, like that bomb, instead of spread around to stop incidents from occurring. if he had, he could have stopped the bombing before it happened. sure it would have not been great, but he could easily show, hey, this guy had a bomb, we had to step in. thats not unreasonable

Too bad Papa Palpatine wasn't there. His political talent would have turned the people of Ferrix to loyalty. The thing in andor that I hope they touch on is andors father and the possible mistake in the first season around separatists/republic. If you read this an are interested I’d be happy to go back and pull the exact info about this point as it is my only negative take on andor.
The Captain would have been better to have left his riot squads and Stormtroopers out of sight inside the hotel, and just leave a token guard on the entrance with instructions to remove their helmets and bow their heads respectfully as the funeral procession goes by. There's no riot, you don't look weak, you showed respect to an elder of the community. Then two days later you quietly arrest everyone who organised the funeral and let them learn the meaning of "ON PROGRAM!". Of course the wildcard is Wilmon Paak, does he still throw the bomb if there's no riot?

The Captain would have been better to have left his riot squads and Stormtroopers out of sight inside the hotel, and just leave a token guard on the entrance with instructions to remove their helmets and bow their heads respectfully as the funeral procession goes by. There's no riot, you don't look weak, you showed respect to an elder of the community.
