    My friend has an XT2 and cannot import GPX I email him into the Tread app, without failed loads or corrupting the route. He was fed up with the XT2 and was going to return it and get an XT. But I worked out that if he uploaded the route to the Explore website it would then synch, as a workaround. But Garmin should fix that bug. For road riding, I'd buy the XT and save the difference.

      Interesting. My experience with the XT2 was very positive. Tested it for about a month and it worked flawlessly in every respect. Tread app along with Explore functionality was good.

      @@3131960dan Update. It turns out after extensive testing an talking to Garmin support, he has a faulty unit. They've replaced it and hopefully that will solve all of hiss problems. In general terms Garmin GPS have always been excellent in my experience.

    Very good Dan, I'm still coming to grips with my XT2. I sold my Tomtom Rider 550 and find the XT2 more user friendly. My main concern is working out the best way to load my gpx route and track files. As and off road rider I find the Garmin map lacking in detail big time, especially here in New Zealand. Keep up the good work

      Thanks for watching! You might find GAIA maps to be useful. You can export a track or route from there then open it in Explore and it will be transferred to your XT2. ( if you have Tread set up and a Explorer account)

      Does it still take you out from paved roads over to gravel just because it's a shorter route?
      Or does it still go crazy for highways even if I set it not to??

    If the XT loses a stable power connection it goes to 40% brightness making it unreadable. It is impossible to change brightness back to 100% as the XT prompts you to connect to a 'stable power connection' to achieve this, which you obviously cannot do on the road if your stable power connection fails making battery life useless. it has to be connected to a power source to function which is a big design flaw for a motorbike satnav in my opinion if you ever have to rely on the battery for whatever reason.

      If you install it correctly you shouldn’t have this issue. There have been a few owners that have had connection pin issues but not many. I have had the XT since it was first released. Use it on 3 different bikes that i ride rugged offroad trails on. It has worked flawlessly . If you want something that will run off battery power you need the Montana. Battery will last all day but its not designed for riding. More of a hike/ hunting gps.

    I am pretty happy with the XT for 3 years now. Its absolutely enough to simple navigate (what its made for) or just following a offroad track as i often do. What keeps me also from upgrading is the fact, that i dont want to dismantle my KTM tower again because of the new mount that has to be used. A shame that you cant just use the old mount from the XT...

    Touratech handlebar mount for zumo xt is the same for xt2?

    • @3131960dan
      @3131960dan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t think so. XT2 has bigger screen. Touratech probably makes one specifically for the XT2. I have it for my XT. Expensive but well made.

    I'm pretty happy with my XT, but would like the XT2. My biggest frustration with the XT is the occasional Bluetooth issue when my phone & headset don't want to reconnect randomly, which could just be a Bluetooth thing. Do you find the XT2's BT connections to be any more reliable?

    • @3131960dan
      @3131960dan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      you may be more happy with the XT2 then. it's connection with Tread seems to be faster and more consistent than the XT and Drive

      one thing you might try with your XT is to make sure you keep Garmin Drive running on your phone. this may help

      @@3131960dan I do keep Drive running, but still have the occasional issue. What’s most frustrating is it often happens mid ride, after a gas stop or lunch break. Then I have to restart the XT to reconnect, or occasionally re-pair.
