Magnum Case History Logan Bleachers

Logan High School and football field are located on a narrow island in the Guyandotte river known as Hatfield Island. Most of the soil was random fill, coal refuse, and slate that was brought in many years before from local mining operations. Because of the poor soils, the geotechnical engineer of record called out for these piles to be the Magnatude Piles, end bearing on the bedrock roughly 40’ below the top of pile.
