    I've been reading tarot since 2004 and I can say that tarot deck over consumption is not down to just social media. I was buying decks like crazy in the Noughts trying to find 'The One' long before I used TH-cam.
    The TarotTube community acts as a force amplifier, magnifying innate addictive tendencies. Since 2016 I have observed that deck unboxing videos have just exploded.
    I read tarot professionally and really you only need one deck. Mine is the RWS and I just stopped buying decks when I realised that's it.
    You find your deck by focusing on your reading, not buying decks. Practice your readings intensively with your favourite decks. Stick with them. And unsubscribe from tarot TH-cam channels.

      I agree with you 100% that you only really need one deck that you connect with to read. Having multiple decks is not needed to become a great tarot reader. But…decks can also be enjoyed for the beauty of the art. I have a few decks that I can’t really read with but I enjoy having them just the same because looking at them calms me and brings me joy! I think it is a great thing that talented artists now have another medium to share their art but…as with everything in life…there can be too much of a good thing. But that’s a line everyone must draw for themselves 😁

    This was an excellent video!
    Now that my TH-cam Channel is growing, with consumerism very high, deck reveals and walk-throughs seem to be the channels that Tarot-Tubers consume.
    I was wondering why my Subscriber count was suddenly increasing. In my head I thought, "I'm just showing the decks that I have." That quickly escalated to people telling me how they like how I describe and market decks...
    ...this lead me to buying more decks so that I can market and describe more! This completely destroyed my spiritual life and focus in Tarot itself! I had to take a step back. That's why my videos are divided into "My current" collection and my "Decluttered" collection to let my viewers know I'm not a serial deck collector. It was headed in that direction.
    Thank you for allowing me to reevaluate my journey and what kind of direction I want my channel to become. Once I'm done reviewing the decks I have left to show, I'm changing course!
    Thank you, thank you for this helpful video!
    PS: your voice is so soothing to listen to 🤗🤗🤍

    Personally I think unboxing videos help me to NOT over consume decks because I can narrow it down to the one I REALLY want by comparing the videos. Admittedly I have myself on a 1 deck a month limit though, so yes I was starting to develop a little problem.
    (I loved the clothes sewing idea to combat over wardrobe consumption💡!!)

      I completely agree with you. If I see a deck, I think I like, I look @ reviews, then try to wait at least 14d prior to purchasing. I've changed my mind on many a deck.

    I love this. That bit where you looked at the screen and said that you'll not get better by buying new pencils... you get better by practicing. Lol! Absolutely. I've been feeling recently that I was a better reader when I only had 5 decks. But that's not because I have more decks. It's because I'm not reading as much. And that's for many reasons and these things ebb and flow. I enjoy watching videos with decks I am never going to buy. 90% of the time I don't fancy them at all. But I started my channel to share this interest with others. To talk about things I'm excited about with other people who are too. Sometimes it leads to other people purchasing, but that's not really the intent. And I think you are similar. You're sharing, not promoting. I'm sitting here watching this practicing my riffle shuffling... which I learned how to do from a TH-cam video. Lol! Enjoyed your rambling. :)

    • @oldsoulmermaid1543
      @oldsoulmermaid1543  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes! You got it exactly right! I started because I wanted to share a new found passion/interest and don’t have anyone in my circle who has the same interest (though, my husband is very supportive). Oh…and I’m going to practice with my kiddie pencils and use them up before I purchase any new ones 😆!

    Fantastic video. I realize I had a bit of FOMO, some need fatigue, some spontaneous purchases that left me feeling empty. I definitely took about 3 weeks off of social media to reset my mind. Even my husband was saying that I needed to address why I felt the need to buy decks so often. He asked if I enjoyed the ones I had. I quickly became defensive, but knew i needed to do that reset to truly examine it. So thank you for thinking out loud about our consumption, attention, triggers for purchases, and desires that can be generated on social media. I love your content, I love your musings, and I truly appreciate your encouragement for practicing self-care. It is so needed right now.

    Such a reasonable position. Thank you for sharing! I think every person is obliged to look at their own practice and see what is best for them. If social media isn't helping - get off. If social media is just some fun, and your consumption is under control, it can be a good way to engage in comunity and with any subject you might like. Same for decks. One must be mindfull (as hard as it may be). TH-camrs can't and shouldn't be held responsible for other people's consumption. Still, I have struggled with this issue, and hearing and talking about it helps a lot to reach that balance!

Oye 😓 I never thought of your content as anything other than sharing what you love and are exploring, being newer to tarot. Your joy brings me joy! As you said, we as content creators need to trust that we're dealing with grown adults capable of thinking for themselves and making their own decisions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic. If I wasn’t already subscribed, this video would have prompted me to do so. Being able to watch tarot content and unboxings of all kinds has certainly fed my interest and love of tarot but it also has actually helped me to be more discerning about what to bring into my collection which I very much appreciate. It is also fun and interesting to see how others use their decks even if I don’t feel the need to have some of them. So again thank you for sharing….

  • @thewavesofyoursoul
    @thewavesofyoursoul 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    That was a wonderful video thank you for sharing your thoughts I agree with a lot of what you said. I think for me the biggest lesson I have taken into consideration when adding decks to my collection is thinking about do I want this new tarot deck to fix a deeper problem or situation I have ( in which case let’s be honest it never really does the trick) or is it because I believe it would bring me something of value( enjoyment, learning something new about a specific theme etc). Also I look at my collection as a library more than a collection & i always thought nobody would go to someone’s house and say you have too many books so why would I feel guilty about having decks that I can re read many many many times over 😊 so no guilt for me either. So agree with what you said about spirituality being internal and no objects or trends will help us connect deeper with ourselves. Whenever I have felt the need to go out of my way to search for new tarot decks to buy has been usually in times when I was disconnecting from my spiritual practice and inner self compared to times when I have bought a deck because I encountered it as a “surprise” either watching others videos for entertainment purposes or just finding one in the bookshop and it brings me joy or value etc that way. I don’t know if that makes sense 🙃 anyway thank you for sharing your thoughts I appreciated you inviting balance in the discussion and not polarising 😊😊

    • @oldsoulmermaid1543
      @oldsoulmermaid1543  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh, yes! I like how you view your decks as a library rather than a collection! You are absolutely correct when you said that people are not critiqued harshly about their large book collections. It’s natural to applaud this because it implies that the person is a heavy reader and obviously in a very active pursuit of knowledge, right? From here on in I will refer to my decks as my “deck library”. Thank you 🙏!

      @thewavesofyoursoul 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@oldsoulmermaid1543 Thanks Bonnie. In French we usually call our " collections" tarothèques ( like bibliothèque which is library but for tarot lol) so that always made more sense to me and like you say it refers to search of knowledge and personal inquiry + it's still all about reading so that gives less pressure I think around numbers etc :) have a lovely day :)

    Thank you so much for this. It’s been on my mind lately and causing me so much recent grief and guilt. I’ve practiced tarot for over half my life and used only 1 deck for most of those years. 2020 happened and the mixture of collective trauma + being introduced to so many beautiful decks via Tarot Tube and IG have definitely triggered it and I’ve spent a ridiculous, unfathomable amount of money on decks in this past year and a half - with still more on my wish list! I want to have a collection because I love the art, but I have seen what was once a full spiritual practice become more empty and shallow over time. Now I’m working to declutter and keep the collection truly special and unique to my interests rather than what is cool. I really appreciate your words and I completely agree!! 🙏🏻💛

      Echo, I think there are good reasons for doing it like creating a safe space to share delve into touchy subjects, but there are other ways you can support your favorite TH-cam-er…like watching at least one ad on a video (if they have ads) or watching as much of a video as you can. Commenting and liking a video is also great! All these things help your favorite TH-cam with the algorithm and helps their video generate more income by pushing their videos out to more people and it doesn’t cost the viewer any money. In a nutshell, the name of the game for TH-cam is that they want to keep you on TH-cam as long as possible and they reward those who create content that people watch to the end of the video. I’ve just spent some time off of Instagram and it has been great! But…it’s not so good if you are trying to build a channel 😆.

    Bonnie, I can understand using Tarot as a gateway. I am looking for a new path myself. I was raised Methodist, but they broke my heart when they would not support my marriage to my wife. The pastor actually did! But the church as a whole did not, and I can’t go back. Maybe I turned to tarot to find another way. ❤️ much love as your continue your journey and exploration of all the beautiful things out there, including those beautiful decks.

      That’s horrible! What I can never understand about Christianity is that Jesus taught absolute love and acceptance, yet these churches have exclusionary practices. I married a non-Mormon and I received a lot of flack from my family. I ended up eloping with my husband and didn’t talk to my family for 2 years. My husband ended up joining the Church and everything was fine, until years later we both left and took our children out of it. I was lucky that my parents did t flat out disown me, but I could feel their profound disappointment in me. After experiences such as these, is it any wonder that so many are being driven away fro Christianity to find a path that includes more love and acceptance? I do believe that tarot can be the gateway to another path, even if they do not remain a permanent part of your journey or practice. Just keep searching! I do have faith that the perseverance will result in some profound enlightenment 🥰🤗.

      Many Methodist pastors are more progressive than their congregations on this issue and others. It can be very frustrating (and heartbreaking) for pastors as well. I love the Wesleyan emphasis on God's grace and believe that the very positive aspects of Methodist theology get drowned out amidst the politics. Religious fundamentalism in general seems to be about putting the (oftentimes horrible) traditions of "men" above God, which is something that Jesus himself warned about. Grace and peace to you and your wife.

    More praise (I wrote my first comment when I was 1/2 way through) - I just love your humility (telling triggered people to unsub) and honesty. I have binged in decks during the pandemic and I don't either see that as a bad thing (better way of coping than many other things I could have done) or as something to feel guilty about. I do have a space limit, and i'm feeling the urge now to cull because I'm feeling my age (56) and feeling how I don't want to have so many decks that I simply don't have time to study properly. Therefore this weekend I'm handing over a big bag of decks to a friend who will take them to a hospice charity shop. Will I buy more decks though? Probably! Will I feel guilty about it? I asked my boyfriend how many games he’s bought and downloaded and he said maybe around 40..., I said, okay, well I have more decks than that. Then I asked how much he spends on each one and he said around $20-$40 or can be less... I said, okay well my decks are around that or more.
    I told my boyfriend that I have a hobby and passion too but it’s not for video games. The difference is he can see mine whereas his is neatly tucked in his computer. The excessive use of these tools (tarot and gaming) can be linked to addiction if purchasing and using disrupt your life in a negative way (lose job, lose family, debt, etc) but otherwise this is no difference than the hundreds or thousands of dollars that people dump in beautifying and maintaining a garden, or spoiling their kids and grandkids, or crafting, sewing, scrapbooking, etc. So I don’t feel bad about my decks. In the least, to me, it’s like a magazine full of artwork I get to enjoy and discover time and time again. People are so simple- and narrow- minded sometimes.
    And also what I was thinking too... tides. People dump money in tides to feel a part of a community. Tarot is a personal solo practice for me and once I have my cards it becomes free and unlimited in using them. So I prefer listening to videos like this and being part of a more “quiet” community. No one gives men and some women crap for buying an expensive car or boat or a second/vacation home. To each their own.

      @oldsoulmermaid1543  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, definitely…just pick your poison! I think there is a bit more of a stigma for the purchasing of decks and other spiritual tools because these items are suppose to be used for spiritual purposes, but some people like to collect these items just for the sake of collecting and that’s ok. Not everyone views a tarot deck as a spiritual tool.

    • @GAwildflower
      @GAwildflower 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Another thing to consider is the resale value of a deck. The downloaded games and even hard copy you are likely not able to sell those. Decks can even go up in value, so I see mine as very good investments and can sell them anytime I want or need. Btw my hubby has tons of games and manga, so thankfully he doesn't judge!! lol ^^

    Thank you for this video, Bonnie. I love watching your channel, I enjoy each and every one of your videos. I’m not at all triggered by your content, in fact, I watch your videos because they relax me. Your voice, your choice of music, and the decks are all soothing for me.
    And I don’t think collecting is necessarily a bad thing. As someone with autism, collecting actually gives me a sense of control and relief, especially now with this (seemingly) never-ending pandemic.
    Tarot and oracle decks aren’t the only things I collect. I used to collect rocks and sea glass as a child which has then evolved into crystals. I’ve always collected books, and figurines too.
    I feel like if someone has an issue with your content, it’s something they have to look inside themselves too. Why are they feeling triggered? You’re not stepping on anyone’s toes by posting your videos. You’re just sharing and doing what you love, and my good friend, Phoebe and I, we truly enjoy every single one of your videos. I really enjoy your content Bonnie, and was excited to learn that you are also coming from a post-Mormon background! I also found tarot shortly after distancing myself from the Mormon church (a couple of years ago, in my mid 30s) and have been exploring oracle/tarot ever since (i.e. obsessing over it, lol) for much the same reasons as you describe here. There's a lot of conditioning to undo around leaders "speaking for God" definitively telling us "what spirituality is", and cards have been a great tool for me in doing that work of deconstruction. (Looking for imagery of the Divine Feminine, almost entirely absent in Mormon theology and art, is what led me to goddess oracles, and from there to the whole world of reading and collecting decks.) It may interest you to know that I was recently at a "feminist mormon girls camp" where several women brought decks and one of the optional activities was a tarot tutorial. ;) So I think there's a connection there, particularly taking back our spiritual authority as women (did you know the official church handbook discourages/bans oracle cards as a "priesthood counterfeit" -yuck!), but maybe it's also something about how Mormonism trains us to look for messages from the Divine (? this is a working theory, haha). I also totally relate with what you said about being turned-off by all things reminiscent of tithing or "pay to play/belong."
    I really enjoy my growing collection also and have been amazed by how visual art can provide such a powerful tool/practice in connecting to spirit and can lead to such profound emotions and insights. (Art is not really something that's emphasized in Mormonism; it's much more about reading your scriptures constantly, listening and re-listening to talks by the leaders, etc...and, this is a tangent, but what variety there was in religious art has recently been limited to a list of only 30 or so approved paintings that can be displayed in LDS chapels!) Anyway, I limit myself to a new deck each month (for more expensive decks, only one every 2 months), and I'll probably need to slow down (or start rehoming decks) in the future because of running out of space and also overwhelm, but I don't think I'm to that point yet. I do spend a lot of time deciding on which deck to purchase each month, watching walk-throughs, honing my wishlist, etc., and it's good in that I'm more mindfully building my collection, but it's not good in that it's taking up lots of time I'd rather spend on other things (like working with the decks I already have, among many other things, haha). I enjoy the content, I just need some kind of time limit for myself. I do enjoy reviews about the experience of working with a deck, as that provides really important information beyond the unboxing and helps with decision making. I'm excited to continue following your exploration into tarot and spirituality. Thanks!

      Laurie! It’s so good to hear from someone who knows! Yes, I did know about what the handbook said about Oracle cards…my dad was a Stake President who took away the astrology book I had brought into the house as a teen. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at that Mormon feminist camp! My youngest son was only in elementary school when we stopped attending services, so he escaped complete indoctrination, and he made the observation that all the LDS kids are lacking the technicolor world view. The more enlightened ones may see some shades of gray, but it always tickled him at how narrow their thinking was. He feels sorry for them. I wish I could feel that kindly towards the Mormons. I have some unresolved feelings of hate towards some of the leaders I had to deal with and I don’t t like carrying that with me. I have lots of shadow work to do! As far as the decks, if there is something that’s keeping you from enjoying them, then it’s time to examine why. These decks should be enjoyed however you use them or why you have them and not be a source of internal and external contention. Thank you so much for sharing!

    • @lauriemadsen9051
      @lauriemadsen9051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldsoulmermaid1543 Boy do I hear you on the shadow work! One of my first spreads ever was a "rose spread" and the Morgan Greer King of Swords came up in the "thorn" position, and it was like every male priesthood leader I'd ever had or heard speak with "God's absolute authority." So much anger and, yes, hatred for the patriarchal system that often doesn't seem to care whom it hurts because it is so certain of its own "rightness," and also for the people in that system who are often so lacking in self-awareness of their own privilege (e.g., male, white, cis, straight, neurotypical, married, fertile, non-questioning/non-skeptical, etc. etc.). I recently drew the Hierophant in a "what I feel" position, and it was disturbing that I almost felt like I missed those voices telling me, "just do x, y, z and you will be happy and whole"...except that promise was a lie and was keeping me from ever fully owning myself and my life. Speaking of a "black and white" worldview, yes, there's a reason that movie "Pleasantville", where the people finally start seeing in technicolor, appeals to so many who have left! That's a great point about the cards; I want to give myself permission to just enjoy them/handle them, even if I don't "use" them often (maybe another relic from Mormonism's thrifty-ness/need to justify every purchase). I think also giving myself permission to do more one-card pulls would be good (spreads are often a lot for my very ADHD brain to work through)

I enjoy hearing your journey - where you came from to where you are now, but that doesn't mean I need to know all the details or have you bare your soul for me to subscribe and invest in watching your content. I find your content enjoyable regardless of you saying or thinking it is all over the place. Life is like that, right? It doesn't move in a straight light. If it feels good then record it. If it makes you hesitate then pass for now. :) As far as decks, too many, etc...meh, you do you. If you feel you have too many then you have too many and you cut down. If you feel you want a deck or two or three *shrug* then buy what you want and can afford. What someone says about my collection makes zero difference to how I feel about my collection. Generally speaking triggers and critique is on the person being triggered. You cannot tailor every video to what may or may not trigger someone watching. That being said you seem to be pretty aware and that is about all you can be. Nice brain dump and thank you for sharing your thoughts. (I saw Papa Squirrels video the moment he posted it. However as a collector, and not a reader (yet), I sometimes feel demonized by numerous TH-cam videos talking about collection size and it's getting old quick. I have ZERO social media accounts because I avoid that stuff like the plague. Do I NEED the decks I buy? Nope. Do I use them? Nope. Do I care? Nope. Do I have the disposable income and room to store them? Yep. I like to collect them. Big deal. Does it effect anyone else? No. Maybe it's an addiction and if it is so what. Better than a million other things to be addicted too. The holier than thou attitude of some people going on and on about how big collections are consumerism or whatever is annoying. You want a big collection just for collecting sake? Go nuts. You want a small, intimate collection of work horse decks? Very cool.

    I think if others want to be tarot and oracle deck collectors is totally fine! The reason why people want to collect decks is really none of my business! If they aren't hurting anyone through deck collecting, then do it...you do you boo. BUT for myself I found deck collecting to be really toxic for MY life. It doesn't mean I think everyone who practices tarot should only have a small collection of decks. Over buying decks last year and into this year had a huge negative impact on me financially, spiritually, and within my relationship with my fiance. Sometimes, my bank account would overdraft so I could buy the hot new deck in the hopes that it would fill this void of emptiness I felt at the time. Hitting that buy button was a shot of dopamine to my brain and then I would get another rush of happiness when the deck would arrive at my house. Most of the time, I would only use the deck once, put it away, and repeat the process. I'm at the point where I just can't do that anymore. So I did a massive cull of decks that don't serve me and want to dive deep with each and every deck that I own. I want to really USE tarot for it's intended purpose, instead of spending that time searching for the new and shiny thing.

Positive spirits only. Idk why this channel was recommended.. I'm a mainly a gamer on mine and hang with others on YT who are mainly gamers... Must be a reason. Weird. Totally weird. I'm going to watch this whole vid now. 💛

    I loved this! I had so many comments, I should have kept a journal. LOL But most of what I was thinking has already been posted by other viewers, so I will go random. It amuses me how we have some similar interests. I've started watching several channels about sewing even though I don't sew any more. One of my favorites is Lady Rebecca who recreates Victorian-era dresses and older periods. I just love the romance of those clothes, and I have learned so much about sewing in general that delights me.
    I enjoy watching content by ex-Mormons. It just makes me livid that so many people are STILL being taken in by that conman who just wanted sex with as many women as possible and to steal money. It's no difference in evil to me than the sociopath who created NXIVM. Ex-Mo's themselves are so much calmer about it. lol I am convinced the slashing rituals that used to be in the weddings are a left over from the threats sex perverts always make to frighten victims into never saying anything about what's going on. How am I the only person who sees that as a hold over? Or at least no one else has posited that, that I've seen. And having to be naked under a poncho to be "anointed" with oil in private places because that's "newly revealed" about what's required for weddings? Sweet baby Jesus, how is this still going on, how are mothers still sending their daughters into this vile creepiness. And having to pay to get into heaven. Yeah, right, that's how it REALLY would work. OMG.
    You did a lovely thoughtful brain dump. Sorry--eh, only sorta--that I went straight to rant. It just incenses me when good people are taken advantage of. Having their entire lives taken over is beyond the pale.
    Ah..... Deep breaths..... I do love having little packets of art and whimsy to enjoy, and I love watching other people talk about them. And I really love you and the kindness and intelligence and belly laughs you bring to all of us.

      Oh, Dana! I loved your rant! The biggest growth in membership in the Mormon Church comes from within these days (babies being born into Mormon families). Since the start of Social Media growth in the Mormon church has significantly slowed down in recent years (hey…social media can be useful!). But yes, it truly is amazing that people still convert in this modern day! You know, if I ever did decide to do a paid subscription thing it would be targeted specifically 100% for former Mormons because existing ones can be the most vicious of attack dogs!

      @@oldsoulmermaid1543 Oh, whew! I'm glad I didn't overwhelm you!
      I had a Mormon boss who would call me out for "lying" all the time, and I couldn't tell him off because of the work relationship. I'm still seething these decades later. The worst--or funniest, given enough time--was when I was so excited to have met a UCSF researcher who was on the team that found the cure for leprosy (Hansen's Disease). I had sort of a Mr. Monk reaction and said, Weren't you scared to work with that illness? And he said, absolutely beaming with happiness, OH, I've never met a tropical disease I didn't love!
      To this day, that is the most charming thing anyone has ever said to me about their work. lol So I told about meeting him to get to that punch line and I was told leprosy was incurable. I said I know it has been! That's what makes it so exciting! But he went on that he knew it was incurable because he had lived in Hawaii where the isolation hospitals for lepers were. Oh. Well. There's proof for you. lol WHY would I have made up that story? He just sucked so much joy out of existence, haughtily impugning my character.
      I'm sure people can keep him in check more easily now with the internet. And he really did try to be a good person. It just does a number on people to be raised to believe that they are the superior keepers of truth.

    I love this video!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts ... I was gifted my first deck (during shut down) I have always been spiritual and kind of witchy after all I was raised Catholic haha… so I thought to myself this would be a nice project to take my mind off the news and learn tarot reading! I was always intrigued by tarot cards so then I turned to youtube to learn how to used them and Oh my! I fell down that rabbit hole! … In no time I had over 60 decks!! now, however between tarot and Oracles Ive kept 21 decks after rehoming the ones that I didn't connect with. Funny thing is I'm not a really good reader LOL. But the artsy part of me fell in love with the art and I saw them as beautiful ATCs that sent messages to you… if you know what I mean?… It fascinates me the different interpretations of each artist/creator from that one traditional tarot deck! I love doing a spread and looking at them specially when I feel uninspired artistically and/or spiritually. I do agree with you 100% when you say any addiction can be dangerous if you're not careful or aware of what's going on inside you... "Do what makes you happy If you are not hurting anyone" that's my take! and yes you are responsible for "The Wandering Star" deck I just got hahaha take care sweetie!

    I agree. Tarot collecting is itself is not bad. The underlying problem is the person's behavior/habits (obsession over tarot decks, browsing for new tarot decks, spending time watching unboxing's), especially if a person is jeopardizing their financial/emotional/mental well-being like you said.
    An analogy: If someone spends all their time looking at clothes in a store and ends up buying way more clothes than they need, is it the store's fault for existing? Is it the clothes' fault for being at the store?
    Content creators shouldn't take the full blame for promoting decks or doing unboxing videos. Yes, invariably, tarot social media will encourage consumption, but It's up to an individual to exercise their self-control and not spend so much time looking/buying decks.

    I have no clue why you felt the need to answer this person. If she/he doesn't understand, don't watch.
    This is not aimed at you Bonnie. I am just tired to death of every person who feels the need to weigh in on another's possessions, collections, life. You buy what you want to, you make videos to share because you want to - it is NO ONE else's business. The passive/aggressive "I don't understand (why you have so many decks)" is the common starter with all these people. No one else needs to concern themselves with what you do. It pleases many people to watch your videos - great! If it "confuses" others - don't watch!!
    All the handwringing about the # of decks people have is BS. Turning it into a comment on their mental health (hoarding) is even bigger BS. Why doesn't everyone do their thing & if you don't "understand" someone else's decisions, who says you need to? Each to their own, people.

    I've only watched the first 6 minutes so far, but I have to make a comment now because of the red flags that have been jumping up as I've listened concerning this person "who makes no judgment" making critical (judgmental) comments about your "purpose" for this channel and for your collection. Whether or not you have a goal or a purpose, why in the world would you actually NEED one? The journey itself is important and enriching, so who really cares if it all ends up going nowhere when it has so much value in and of itself? (Though I don't actually believe it's going nowhere.) I also don't understand why people are feeling guilty about their tarot (or other) collections to the point where they feel obligated to get rid of decks or choose between two decks they love. Sure, it's not that people can't get rid of or re-home decks or other things if they really don't want them, but I've been sensing a lot of pressure and guilt in the community in general that people really need to get rid of decks they aren't using. Well do people go around their homes and regularly get rid of other artwork that they don't pull off the wall and "play" with once a day, week, month, etc.? NO! If you enjoy having it no matter if it only sits on a shelf looking pretty, then great.
    I see some really nice things on your channel, but nothing forces me to run out and buy them or not buy them. That's still my decision, and I appreciate you and others on TH-cam for bringing various things to my attention that I didn't know, even if I end up doing nothing with it because a deck isn't really my style or whatever.
    Everyone is on a different part of their spiritual journey and I doubt that anyone has reached an "end goal" in which they've stopped learning or growing, so if others don't like where you are and want to passive-aggressively "sea lion" you or criticize you in some way, then they just need to suck it up and get over it or even unsubscribe from a channel if it's not for them. You're not obligated to wear some sort of false mask because they have their own issues they need to deal with and are using you as a scapegoat.
    Not everyone needs to be a (tarot) minimalist and certainly not out of guilt or some other negative reason. In any case, I appreciate what you do, in case I don't feel a "need" to make another comment later as I watch more of the video. :)
