I have a Ronco "Set it and forget it" rotisserie oven. It still works as advertised, exactly. Never had a bad result with it. One funny thing, though. Just inside the package it came in was a LARGE orange card that said, "Do not take the phrase, 'Set it and forget it' literally. Do not leave unattended." Wait! That was a major selling point! Go figure.

I just got my replacement top ( the piece that sets on the top and cooks other stuff while it's roasting meat and I actually love it except for the fact that the non stick Teflon falls apart and I have the biggest one they made , noticed that the part came from Intel.

Hey James that is very cool, Hey by using it you wouldn't have to clean a few extra dishes. I have been going through some of my mothers storage. I have been finding some old Microwave gadgets from when microwaves first came out. There is this Microwave pot. My mother actually cooked a whole pot roast and sides in it in the microwave. I could not tell the difference. What happened to that old technology. I mostly remember all the old Car polishes that were as seen on TV. I bought one called Auri I think, It did nothing. Then something called Durashine. This was the most amazing stuff I had ever used on my car. Would completely repel pollen and dust, along with a showroom shine that lasted for a few months. I guess the big name brands had it removed. Oh well . Great Job. Have a wonderful day. Be safe.

I would say if they were going to improve this product I'd say they need to make the needle should be solid when the machine is off. Ronco went into liquidation last year! The building in Elk Grove Village (look at it on Google Maps; it’s huge) is now occupied by a dozen tenants.
Happily its major competitor, K-tel, is still in business primarily due to its extensive 50s era music catalogue. Every time you play The Twist or Tutti Frutti, an old lady in Winnipeg gets her share (and Little Richard does not).

In the late 70's early 80's I grew up with my parents and three younger siblings. Every Saturday night I was the oldest and my father allowed me to stay up with him to watch Saturday night live which was followed by 'Night Stalker' a drama in those years with a cop chasing monsters etc. ...
Anyway... at that time Saturday Night Live had all kinds of fake commercials that came on in between skits that were actually skits and not commercials. I remember clearly this Ronco in the egg Egg Scrambler commercial showing while we were watching SNL one Saturday night. We laughed our ass off! We saw the commercial a second time and laughed even harder thinking the SNL crew set it up.
It took us seeing the commercial about 4-5 times during SNL then when it showed while we were watching Night Stalker and it showed again I forget if it was my father or me that realized it was a real commercial, but we did realize it was real. Upon the realization it was a real commercial we laughed even harder it was belly laughing near dry heaves laughter. It was so outrageous at the time and we laughed first that it was ridiculously funny spoof, then laughed that we had been fooled and it was real, then laughed that this product was real.
I'll never forget that laughter and I will always remember the Ronco "In the Shell Egg Scrambler" as a good time with my father simply enjoying each other's company during father and son time.

Ronco products seem to be very good quality stuff, I have the pasta maker and rotisserie that I got from thrift store several years ago. Both works great still, consider both are 20+ year old. The rotisserie really save my life for thanksgivings and other holidays meals.

Scramble your self and cook it. There are other ways to scramble eggs inside the shell. Look at TH-cam you should find some.

Hey buddy I know you did this thing a year ago but you don't need that machine to scramble an egg or a bowl or a whisk all you need is a sock or a long sleeve or stocking you put it in there twirl around pull both ends and it shakes it so vigorously scrambles the egg inside without punching a hole in it I'm sure you've seen it before and this way you can hard boil a scrambled egg that's really nice let me know what you think thank you PS keep up the good work love your videos

They do sell these under a different name so you can still get them and they are streamlined. When you opened the box and said 80s cardboard I thought you were gonna show us a picture of you back in the day. 😊

Sears sold a Sears branded version of this sing. My mom worked for Sears and brought one home. I remember playing with it when I was a little little kid. It was kind of stupid so I mostly remember it living mostly untouched in the cabinet over the refrigerator.

Had one then I upgraded. I have a Scrambler now that is best described as a Pocket Scrambler - (think Pocket Pen Light). Just takes 1 AA battery.
I'm surprised you didn't Hard Boil at least one of the Eggs. But heads up, if I remember right they are even harder to get out of the shell. I Love silicone cookware.

My Dad bought one for my Mom. Every time we pushed the egg down, the egg broke so we couldnt get nit to work. But i wanted so bad to make a hardboiled-scrambled egg. You should make one so we can see what a hardboiled-scrambled egg looks like and tell us what it tastes like. I remember the commercial stating you can hardboil the scrambled egg IN THE SHELL.

Ronco...Pocket fisherman!!!....I remember all those Ronco commercials....Ron Popeil and his spray on hair for balding....The food saver vacuum sealer was the first infomercial I remember getting bombarded with constantly on T.V. for years... Old Rondo is worth a cool 150 million....

G'Morning! Did you ever review the Popeil Pocket Fisherman??I knew a guy kept one in his tackle box as a "backup", don't know what to! He said it did work, but wasn't super great. I guess in a pinch, when you just GOTTA fish! hahahahaha!!! Pet da Bailey for me, okay?? Love that puppy!!!

The reason it takes 6 batteries is because it's just a 9 volt motor (more likely a 12v motor being underpowered). You could use a single 9 volt and power the machine just as well, but why not use 6 batteries for longer life?
Ron Popeil is one of my personal heroes. One day I hope to invent something as successful as his ideas. I've been following as seen on TV products ever since I saw his commercials on TV, which is how I found this channel. Great to see you reviewing his classics - I'd love to see you test out his pasta maker!

Maybe James will see your comment and reach out to you and review this on a new video of his. Bet he could work out the shipping both ways with you, etc. and could then ask his viewers if they have any older "as seen on TV" products that they could have him review. I really enjoyed this video and it would be really cool to see him review other older "as seen on TV" products.
