The cut and the music usage is epic in this video. At 5:00 is where the best part starts. The explanation with song used plus cut to the map than to that location in game with mobs roaming, music sudenly pauses when gnome enters the scene, where scene stops, arrow points at him. Music continues to play with added beat and melody as the video continues and gnome does his job demostrating what are titles explaining. This is for me the most memorable part of the "In frost we trust." It's so masterfuly put together. Well fucking done lad!
Annotation: I made up my mind - with the release of vanilla reloaded I will return to WoW. And guess what I will do first...Yep, correct, aoe frost grinding. I will as well fiddle together some clips and make a new vid (with mostlikely old info ;) ). Brace yourself. I am even thinking about a livestream - what do you guys think of that idea? Update ( 9/14/19) - still busy in RL, will not be able to go Vanilla before end of september. Livestream will mostlikely not be possible, because my potato-computer can't handle it...
Hey, question. If you opened with a Flamestrike before your first blizzard on the frozen mobs (for the likely crit and aoe while slowed) how much better or worse might that work? Especially if you picked up shatter for the crit? Mana and speed-wise? great guide btw
I ended up never even leveling a mage in my time in WoW, but I watched this video so much, it had a lasting impact on my taste in music. Brilliant work.
This video forms such a big part of my nostalgia for WoW, the way its edited really stuck with me as a kid and it's the only reason I ever touched the mage class to be honest, I must have watched it a hundred times as a little noob in 2007 haha. Thanks for the re-upload, and the memories ;)
Felt great revisiting this video more than a decade later! It turned me on to "Lemon Jelly", and I learned a lot about AoE when I first saw it. Thank you for the content!
Not going to lie - this, for me (way back in 2007-2008), was the single greatest video that got me started on WoW and created a mage. I salute you good sir. You are a legand
I'm glad to see the creator of this video upload it to YT! Just wanted to compliment you on both these videos, they're amazing, really. I never saw them back in the day but even in 2017 one can see you put work into it.
6:02 In this case, cold snap is not needed. It only is if more than one resists. Here's what you do: - Don't step as far away as in the illustration, only just outside melee range. - Polymorph the one who resisted. - Blink and start blizzard. This way you're not relying on a long cooldown every time a mob resists.
I saw this back when it was originally posted. LOVED it. Still my most favorite WoW vid of all time and taught me the basics of Frost Mage AoE. Truly changed how I played the game. For the longest time this vid was not available anywhere. Now that I am playing vanilla wow again... revisited it for a refresher.
i used to play from 2005 to 2010. i was warlock en then played on pservers like nostalrius northdale kronos. i m late on classic because of that. i m going to use your method to level up a mage fast horde side. Your vid is from an era were players knows how to make videos of this faboulous game. greeting from France
Love the vid, way more instructional and informative than anything else. I've been getting asked a lot how to AOE farm from other players and I just point them here. One thing that took some adjusting though is that you are aggressive as heck in some of these pulls. I dunno if you just had that much stam or what but I feel like I'm constantly riding the lightning with my pulls. Watching JokerD's pulls are much more consistent with how Classic pulls are actually working. I tend to find that a "valley" formation of sorts works the best, where i pull a mob with frost bolt at one side, one on another, they'll usually grab 1 or 2 more, then I run up the gut and grab a few more for pulls ranging on average from 5-10. The more you outlevel mobs the more aggressive you can be. Also, as you mentioned, Eagle gear is SUPER important, the more stam the better.
First off: thanx for the feedback, much appreciated;) About the agressive pulls: Maybe you are right and that there are much smoother ways to get the pull together (or, as you described it pulling with frostbolt). But when it comes to "actually working" pulls: this way of pulling worked for me back in the days - so, to each his own, I guess. Eagle gear, btw., is pointed out in the guide (maybe not intense enough to stick) Atm I am still to much invested in RL to give Vanilla a go, and this will not change until end of september, but I am really looking forward to winter - I hope I will find enough time to do all of this again (including all those countless deaths when practicing ;) ) Until then: May The Frost Be With You :)
@@dunngyllite7883 hey man, for sure, less feedback and more providing some insight for anyone else watching the video now, like calling out my anecdotal experience and how important the gear is like you said! great video, its 12 years old so critiquing it would be silly.

ah Hi Deluxo, still around? I remember you from warcraftmovies ;) Yes, thats me, Dwarv. No WoW atm, maybe return with vanilla reloaded, that's really tempting...
I just leveled a mage on a "blizzlike" private server. You can expect 1 lvl/90min at lvl 40 to 50 so 6 lvls take less than 24h, provided you know what you're doing. Lvl 1 to 60 took me ~5d 4h as a first char on this server (i.e. no weapons/gold/bags waiting in the mail box etc) which is pretty decent considering that this is 8h from the (inofficial?) world record. Frost/ice armor vs mage armor: Use mage armor when you can but esp. in lost rigger cove, tanaris it's pretty hard.
Little bit of a problem with the first lvl 20 stages. No damage done to the mobs outside the Frostnova. Frost Nova is still on cooldown when mobs break free leaving 9 seconds. All this while Frost nova is the main damage? Or was a step missed?
That was not the original vid. Shortly spoken: I made the vid back in 2007, released it on "warcraftmovies", Dingus4life released it without my permission on TH-cam (like many others), now I started a "cleaning" action, asking all the people who released the vid on TH-cam to delete it.
