~~~ DELTA ~~~ Delta kicked ass! One of the best scrolling shooters of all time. Thalamus, I believe (also did Sanxion) Rob Hubbard's music truely kicks butt.
True Story: for my final-year composition in high-school, I plagiarised the "Delta" theme, as I had left my schoolwork to the last minute (girls, drinking, going out were the main factors). I took a chance that none of my highschool music teachers had ever heard this tune before, essentially transcribed the tune by ear (didn't take long as I have Absolute Pitch) and handed the score in for assessment.
Nice - this retake gets the delta theme back to it's original roots, Philip Glasses' Koyaanisqatsi. by the way not the only time Glass was converted into a c64 game tune - parallax had a Koyaanisqatsi tune too
I was about to say the same thing. My high opinions for Rob Hubbard dropped when I heard the original by Philip Glass, makes you wonder what else Hubbard ripped without crediting the original artist. :(
A lot of music is based on previous works. I'm sure Hubbard made this one partly in tribute to those he artists he liked himself. Otherwise I think this song wouldn't have been created in the first place.
@motorpik Rob, Jeroen and all others are god to me... I listen all theirs songs in original. Which is SID-formatted. Pure geniuses those were . Live long and prosper... I only hope, taht they were perform these tunes in Finland. But i know they arent..
tfal23 I am just wondering how did you get on with the piece, how did they mark you and hard any of those assessing your work heard of this piece before? Very nicely choosen and I hope it went well.
It would be nice to see a MS-DOS orchestra too!!! fucking cool... or a 90's pc game tribute lol... what a nerd wtf! this orchestra rulz seriously :D my bitchy fat respect :)
Well, Master of Magic is technically a rip-off of one of the tracks on Audion by Synergy (I think it's "Ancestors" or "Shibolet"), but he actually takes the theme and does something more interesting with it.
where's my sid player... where's the original delta sid tune... i need that now. never ever heard such a lame version like this here BAH shame on them how could they rape that tune this brutal and disgusting way?
Loved it!
Brings back so many memories of my childhood listening to music by Rob H.
Memories, memories. Such great songs.
CONTINUED: I passed with flying colours. Till this day, I've felt sick with grief about it. Thank you Rob!!!!
Wonderful to see this classic performed this way, along with those visuals. Thanks a lot for sharing this!
echt klasse musik - Rob ist einfach perfekt.
This is very nice! I like the Philip Glass-based melody. Thanx for uploading this!
@motorpik The ecstacy of gold - an amazing piece of music :)
I heard that song from Philip Glass yesterday, and.. "but... wtf.. seems Delta" O_O.
Very similar indeed.
Loving it.
Rob Hubbard should made music for movies.
I agree, very similar but probably because its a classical version... I have heard some great remixes of the Delta theme on the KWED website
I think you just owned him ;)
absolutely stunning, I would also like to know if this orchestra has made any cd's or something?
I'd love to hear the Hawkeye song.... it was epic
yeah LOL if you played the delta theme on an organ you'd think it was a variation of koyaanisqatsi... the ingame music to this game was badass though
@Adefesio94
MS_DOS-orchestra would be cool indeed..
Geez... I got goosebumps.
Thanks for posting this, where was it performed?
Rub knob hard :P
like michael schumaker riding a unicycle
Is there any way to get an MP3 of the orchestra recordings?
also the GTA4 trailer plagiarises kojjaniskatsi. in a quite beautiful way.
Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi
tfal: Then you're really lucky, as Hubbard's Delta Theme heavily plagiarises Philip Glass's score to Coppola's Classic "Koyaanisqatsi".
primitive music with no soundchips involved
great for the over 50s... how olds rob no btw?
but he was a visionary....
Better than Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi
