People always say Sack this Sack that Hakim the Dream is the best five of all time and more but they forget Pat. He was an awesome 5 a great player who had a dozen moves as we see in this video and more. He could go in and dunk, he could shoot from inside the paint he could do of balance shoots and he was a very good defender. This team with Starks another great player deserved a ring or two but there was the best player of all time MJ the GOAT (Greatest of all time) that had different plans and stuff and a great vid btw.
@@ΕυαγγελοςΚαρακωστας-χ6ν Well one of the best centers with Hakim, Jabar the dude that scored back then 100 points and Sack. Best 5 of NY for sure ever but the GOAT is Michael for me IMO.
Pat Ewing was a mercenary playing for the Knicks, he brought them to respectable heights during his playing career, he never complained or bitched about wanting to play for an NBA contender, didn't make any deals behind the scene like LeBron would do to end up on a team that's going to be dominating, dude showed up and played hard and people forget, Ewing was a big mofo, 7' 250, 260 and he had a more all around game than Fatboy Shaq, could hit from the outside, good passer, good free throw shooter, much respect to Ewing, shame he along with Barkley never won a championship but doesn't deter they were among the greatest to ever play in the NBA, Shaq talks to much for me
@@bumblebity2902if we are gonna paint a narrative of Kyrie Irving not being enough help for the alleged greatest ever then I think we can cut Ewing some slack for having John Starks being his second option. Ewing was originally drafted to be the defensive anchor while Benard King took care of the offense. Then King got hurt and Ewing had to carry both.
1992-93 New York Knicks were the best team record wise that year but lost in the eastern conference finals to the 2 time defending champions Chicago Bulls
Yup. They had the bulls down 2-0. I personally liked the 91-92 team better. If they had the Xman and Jackson on 92-93 instead of smith and Doc I think they beat Chicago but I’m a Knicks homer lol
This is the same season Patrick Ewing lead the league in defensive win shares and defensive rating and still didn’t make the all NBA team. People forgot how great Patrick Ewing was on both ends of the field. He led the league in defense win shares and defensive rating multiple times, and yet was robbed of the defensive player of the year numerous times.
Nonstaglic times when brothas wore flat top haircuts, the designs, along wit the game being played on offense maximizing the 24 sec shot clock, wit the ball being passed down to the interior, kicked back out to the perimeter, with timely pushing the pace transition, along wit tough defense
This was close to prime Patrick versus rookie Shaq. Prime Ewing was 90/91 and Shaq would take 2-3 more years to dominate. Would have been an incredible matchup. This one is also great, as Shaq already shows dominance inside, while Patrick was an overall better player
Patrick Ewing is cool for giving props to young stars by saying he loves to see them play! He himself was good, but wasn't as good as the top centers of today. He didn't have the moves, he had a more fundamental game. The Knicks were a team though. John Stsrks, Mark Jackson, Charles Oakley, and Ron Harper were just some of his teammates. Ewing wasn't a star they built a team around. He was instead a part of a great team.
Here we have a video where the dude shows us his dropstep, turnaround, fadeaway, and midrange jumpers, drive-2-the-basket one-hander, numerous dunks, lays, and putbacks, and finally the jump hook that should have been a staple of his game that he rarely bothered using, and you’re saying Patrick Ewing didnt have the moves? Look, Big Pat was known for taking a step every so often. But not every possession! Today’s “centers” would be turning the ball over every time they tried to cross somebody up, but for the relaxing of travelling calls and elimination of the handcheck (2004?). Prior to 2004, big men didn’t play with their backs to the basket cuz they too dumb to face forward. Per the laws of physics, a 7-footer can’t take 10 dribbles basically at eye-level to a 6-foot guard who’s allowed to extend his hand. He’s gettin picked off all day long.
@@lestermoonbottom All basic stuff. He wasn't flash or technical. You have to know that Hakeem Olajuwon was the premier center in those days. Now that's some special talent that no center has ever duplicated. So yes, compared to Hakeem, , Patrick Ewing was a basic player.

Patrick Ewing is the best my friend!!!
Best of the East!!!

That's Hakeem, bruh!!!!
Choker, when MJ wasn't in the league. He was beaten by Hakeem and Reggie. Both times Ewing often was no show.
It's a shame we never got a Shaq vs Ewing playoff matchup when the Knicks and Magic were both contenders in the mid 90s.
Pacers got in the way twice (93 and 95)

To think this was almost a 1st round playoff matchup if not for the Pacers edging out Orlando via FIFTH tiebreaker
It was almost the 95 ECF matchup as well

Loved the Shaq mid-range jump shot attempt in the 1st quarter.

that ,93 knicks team gave the bulls every thing they had..finally got passed them in 94 thanks to hue hollins

🎉 I love Shaquille O'Neal ❤❤❤
The terminator attending this game. He was doing last action hero at the time in 93.
0:39 John Starks with a face mask on, boxes out Shaq for the rebound and starts the fast break.. are you kidding me?
Walt Frazier was absolutely correct on what Shaq needed to improve on to be great and to Shaqs credit he did.
Knicks Commentators was slick talking a bit too much. Talking Pat Ewing doesn't want come inside & as well that Shaq doesn't have any handles 😆

Ewing was better than O’Neal period
This is a Ewing three to four years past his prime and he is dominating O’Neal here.
