I'm from Rome, Italy. When I watched the NBA games in the early 90s Pat Ewing was one of the most beloved by us italian guys. He was always correct in the game and above all very charismatic. I always liked the fact that he was always in the Knicks despite not winning anything ... and he deserved it. A great man even in life!
I've seen snarky remarks about Ewing being on the wrong end of a lot of highlight dunks, but I respect anyone who prioritizes contesting a shot over worrying he could be put on a poster. That's something missing with most of the NBA players now. Only a few play with that type of intensity on both ends.

Not the best big man in history but the biggest in my heart. First, I was a Georgetown alum when he signed with my Alma Mater and got all those thrills watching him play for GU. Then, he was drafted by my NBA team that I grew up rooting for, The Knickerbockers! They never made it all the way but damn, those were some exciting years and some incredibly dramatic playoff battles. No regrets, #33 is #1 to me.

It was all about the ride. I started watching the Knicks in about 1989 and watch them get a little better every year. They finally peaked in 1994 and came within one game of winning the NBA championship. It wasn’t to be, but you will always be a champion in my eyes. And it was one hell of a ride.
Ewing is the most charismatic center I've ever seen. Not the most skilled but surely the King of the warriors. When it's about Pat Ewing, peoples just have to remember his intensity during the games, how his teammates (not the most skilled) love him and fight with their captain, the sound of the Madison Square Garden, how the crowd was hot for the opponents. During the 90's, all the centers in this league, olds and youngs, were rated as very good or average after playing Big Pat. Ask to Zo Mourning, Chris Webber, Shaq how much it was hard to play Ewing. Each game of this guy was special. Sometimes, it was a battle. And people love him for that. Big Pat had retired since 2002 and had never been replaced in people hearts. Big respect to Pat Ewing!

You Know, Yamcha...I was thinking about this for a while--PE may not do the greatest job in the would stopping a giant like Wilt or Kareen...But i do think he can give them a run for his money (Willis Reed at 6'10' was able to guard Wilt & even took a ring away from him) Ewing always had a decent 20 feet jump shot & doing so would mean that whoever guarded him would have to step out of the paint & try to stop him (Leaving the paint fairly open) But don't get me wrong...Wilt can easily score at will & drop 50+ points, grab 27+ boards, Block 15+ shots & get like 10+ assists in a single game (If he really wanted too) & I don't think PE could match that all by himself...He would need some help

Ewing gets the ball on the free throw line, with his back to the basket and four tall players between him and the basket. He took one dribble turning towards the basket, lowered the left shoulder as he often did and slam dunked it like a freight train. That is still the definition of the monster move, for me.

This man was the perfect 'Big Man' for me. He had the size, the power, the skill, and even the agility to get the better of his opponents. It was just that other teams had a better supporting cast for their stars like what Hakeem had for their Rockets team thatʼs why they won championship titles. But for me (and I believe even for a lot of people), Patrick Ewing was a lot more complete of a player than his contemporaries and even more over Kareem and the acclaimed big men of the past decades before Ewing. And man, was Ewingʼs jumpshot a thing of beauty! I loved watching him pull that off from the high post and even the 3-pt. line. His dribbling moves and his low post also were to be reckoned with. When Patrick first came in to the NBA he was mainly a rebounder and shot blocker but through hard work and dedication he developed one of the prettiest jump shots and face up/post up games for a big man that I've ever seen. Injuries and father time eventually caught up to him in the late 90's but in his prime Ewing was one of the best ever. He gets forgotten alot because of the era he played in because there were a lot of great big men in his era and Jordan of course who reigned over everyone. It was a great time to be a basketball fan.
Ewing was a classy leader who worked hard and played with his heart, making him a true competitor. Carmelo was only a scorer and wanted money and fame. Ewing will always be the better Knick!

This man was the perfect 'Big Man' for me. He had the size, the power, the skill, and even the agility to get the better of his opponents.
It was just that other teams had a better supporting cast for their stars like what Hakeem had for their Rockets team thatʼs why they won championship titles. But for me (and I believe even for a lot of people), Patrick Ewing was a lot more complete of a player than his contemporaries and even more over Kareem and the acclaimed big men of the past decades before Ewing.
And man, was Ewingʼs jumpshot a thing of beauty! I loved watching him pull that off from the high post and even the 3-pt. line. His dribbling moves and his low post also were to be reckoned with. He really defined the 'Big Man' that revolutionized the versatility of what they can be.
Thank you, Mr. Patrick Ewing. You were truly one of the greatest to ever play the game of Basketball. God bless you!

When Patrick first came in to the NBA he was mainly a rebounder and shot blocker but through hard work and dedication he developed one of the prettiest jump shots and face up/post up games for a big man that I've ever seen. Injuries and father time eventually caught up to him in the late 90's but in his prime Ewing was one of the best ever. He gets forgotten alot because of the era he played in because there were a lot of great big men in his era and Jordan of course who reigned over everyone. It was a great time to be a basketball fan.
